1.

Find:
a) -400000 ÷ (- 800)
b) -2 × 25 × 144

Calculation:

a) Division:

• Divide the absolute values: 400000 ÷ 800 = 500

• Since both numbers are negative, the result is positive: 500

b) Multiplication:

• Multiply the rst two numbers: -2 × 25 = -50

• Multiply the result by the third number: -50 × 144 = -7200

2. Fill in the blanks and name the property used :
1. 57 × [ __16__ × 26] = [57 × 16] ×__26___
2. 26 + __-26__ = 0
3. Using distributive property find the value of :
-295 × -66 + (-295) × (-34)

Notice the common factor:

◦ You can rewrite the original expression as: -295 × (-66 - 34)
◦ -295 × (-100) = 29500

4. Using >,< or = compare :

-135 + 64 + 41 -159 - (-81) + 160
5. Write the absolute value of −17.

6. Subtract the first integer from the second : −16, −4
=-4-(-6)=4+6=10
7. In a test (+4) marks are given for every correct
answer and (-2) marks for every incorrect answer.
Rohit answered all the questions and scored 68
marks. 25 of Rohit’s answers were correct. How
many of the questions he attempted were incorrect?

Calculate marks for correct answers=25*4=100

Subtract the marks for correct answers from the total score=68-100=-32
Divide the marks for incorrect answers by the marks for each incorrect
answer=32/2=16 marks
0

8. Simplify :
45 - [38 - {60 ÷ 3 - (6 - 9 ÷ 3) ÷ 3}]
