Science education is vital in shaping the future innovators, problem-solvers, and scientists. We
understand the need to offer solid science programs that meet the diverse needs of our learners.
Currently, our programs focus on three main areas: helping students with poor academic
performance, training students for science contests, and providing activities to showcase their skills
and innovations.

Our initial data shows that about 10% of our students struggle with basic science concepts, which
affects their academic performance. These students often lack confidence and motivation to fully
participate in science activities, stressing the need for focused help. To tackle this, we will provide
CURRENT REALITIES/
remedial classes, peer tutoring, and hands-on activities aimed at improving understanding and

encouraging a positive attitude toward science.

In addition, we will offer specific training for students and motivate them to join local competitions,
which can help boost their participation and performance levels.

Moreover, our school promotes a culture of innovation through science fairs, project exhibitions, and
STEM activities. These events give students the chance to present their projects, share ideas, and
work together with their peers. Participation in these activities has increased by 20% over the past
academic year, showing greater student engagement and excitement for science.

PART II. PPA CONTEXT/RATIONALE

In early education, a teacher centered approach is needed, but we must remember that
learning is a journey towards self-directed learning, helping students continue learning
independently , (Lacher, 2017).
Educational approaches and teacher strategies have evolved significantly over time.
Traditional approach like teacher- centered, lecture-based instruction, emphasis on
memorization and recall , limited technology integration have negative effects on the students
and the learning process. To address these limitations, many educators are adopting student-
centered approaches that prioritizes personalized learning, project-based learning, technology
integration, collaborative learning, critical thinking, and problem -solving, creativity and
innovation, real world applications and these shifts reflect a more student-centered, inclusive
and adaptive approach to education, preparing learners for an ever-changing world. It is a call
CIGPS AND PICTURE OF THE to transform education by shifting the role of the educator from instructor to facilitator.
SCHOOL/ STUDENTS’ FUTURE The school aims to develop three interrelated skills for improving students’ literacy:
Vocabulary development, reading fluency and reading comprehension and improve numeracy
skills. The school should also improve learning outcomes by utilizing strategies and actions
that facilitate effective teacher instruction and quality learning for students.
As we embark in this new approaches of learning, Maysan Elementary School
continuously improves for the betterment of our end-users, our Learners. We ensure that our
learners are equipped with 21st-century skills exhibiting good moral values and empowered
educators that will prioritize learners’ well-being in a safe environment that cultivates learners’
individual interests and passion.
MAYES aims BEST!
B – Build inclusive and learner-centered spaces
E – Engage learners actively in education

S – Support quality learning delivery
T – Take accountable on excellent delivery of basic education services and facilities
The Science Department has created various programs and activities designed to achieve
mastery of scientific concepts, foster inquiry-based learning, and nurture curiosity and
creativity in all learners. The program design involves active engagement, equity, and academic
excellence. In addition, there is a blend of purposeful assessment, intervention, enrichment,
and school-wide activities to aid both struggling and high-achieving learners. An equally
important part of the program is the Science Intervention Program, which helps learners with
challenges in acquiring critical knowledge in science. Using diagnostic assessments and
consistent progress evaluation, students with identified gaps are provided targeted instruction
through intervention classes that include lesson delivery, and activity sheets. This ensures that
PPA DESCRIPTION
equity is practiced and gaps in foundational skills are filled.
To extend the learning of science in and out of the classroom, the school formally
established the Science Club. This student-initiated club allows members to learn scientific
concepts by doing experiments, field studies, and group projects. Monthly meetings and hands-
on activities stimulate curiosity while building skills in leadership, communication, and
problem-solving.
These programs do not only improve academic performance but also instills a lifelong love
of science. Through sustained support, meaningful experiences, and inclusive opportunities,
the program empowers learners to become informed, inquisitive, and innovative citizens of the
future.
The science improvement program will use a multi-part approach aimed at both struggling
and advanced students. The Science Intervention Program will start with diagnostic tests to
find learners who need support. This will be followed by remedial sessions using customized

activity sheets. At the same time, a Science Club will be set up to spark student interest

through hands-on experiments, monthly meetings, and peer learning.

To help develop talent, selected students will receive intensive training for science contests.
This training will focus on critical thinking, research skills, and subject mastery. Teachers will

create learner activity sheets and exam tests that match the curriculum to assist with both
support and enrichment activities.

Student engagement and awareness will be raised through a Science Fair and a Mobile
Science Exhibit. These events will showcase student projects and interactive science displays.
They will be scheduled throughout the school year, with ongoing monitoring and evaluation to
ensure effectiveness and track learner progress.
By the end of the school year (June 2026), Science Department wants to meet the following
goals:
• organizing a science club with monthly activities,
• training learners for district and division science contests,
SMART GOAL/S:
• crafting and distributing 4 sets of learner activity sheets per quarter,
• creating and administering quarterly examination tests aligned with the curriculum,
• conducting a school-wide science fair by March 2026,
• and holding a science mobile exhibit reaching at least 80% of the student population.
