NVC Case Status Update: Document Complete
NVC Case Status Update: Document Complete
The NVC fills interview appointments on a first-in, first-out basis according to when cases became documentarily complete. However, the scheduling depends on the availability of interview dates provided by the U.S. embassy or consulate .
If an applicant no longer wishes to pursue their immigrant visa because they have adjusted their status, they must inform the NVC and attach a copy of both sides of their alien registration card as proof .
To ensure a case is documentarily complete at the NVC, all required fees must be paid, and all necessary forms and documents must be submitted. This includes verifying the validity of police certificates, which must be renewed if the applicant has turned 16 since the case became complete or if the certificates have expired. Document uploads to the CEAC will not delay the scheduling of the visa interview .
Uploading new documents to the CEAC does not impact or delay the scheduling of the immigrant visa interview. The uploaded documents are reviewed without affecting the case's position in line for an interview appointment .
If an applicant wishes to withdraw their immigrant visa application, they must submit a written statement to the NVC asking to withdraw the petition. This statement must be signed by the authorized representative, such as the petitioner or attorney. If an attorney is submitting the request, a signed Form G-28 must also be provided unless it was already submitted .
Reissuance of police certificates is required if the applicant turned 16 after the case became complete or if their existing certificates have expired or will expire before the interview .
Applicants will receive a communication from the NVC either notifying them that their interview appointment has been scheduled, or if not scheduled within the next 60 days, informing them that their case is still waiting for an interview appointment .
An attorney or accredited representative can submit a withdrawal request for an immigrant visa application, but they must include a signed Form G-28, unless it was previously provided, to show they are authorized to act on behalf of the applicant. The request must include a written, signed statement explaining the decision to withdraw .
Applicants should avoid making permanent financial commitments until they receive their immigrant visa. This includes not selling property, resigning from jobs, or making definite travel arrangements .
Police certificates must be renewed if the applicant has turned 16 years old since the case became documentarily complete, or if the previously submitted certificates will expire before the interview. Renewing these certificates will not delay the scheduling of the visa interview, but they must be presented in their original form at the interview .
