ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

Division Orientation of Mathematics Teachers on the Conduct of Rapid Math Assessment

for Grades 1–10 Learners
July 5, 2025

I. Background and Rationale

To address learning gaps and establish baseline data for mathematics proficiency among
Grades 1 to 10 learners, the Department of Education initiated the conduct of Rapid Math
Assessment (RMA). In line with this, a division-wide orientation was conducted to equip
mathematics teachers with the necessary skills, knowledge, and tools to effectively administer
and interpret the RMA.

II. Objectives

The orientation aimed to:

1. Familiarize teachers with the structure and content of the Rapid Math Assessment.
2. Train participants on the proper administration and scoring of the RMA.
3. Ensure accurate and consistent data collection across grade levels.
4. Promote data-driven instruction based on assessment results.

III. Participants

The activity was attended by mathematics teachers from public elementary and secondary
schools across the Division of Malaybalay City held at Bukidnon National High School Function
Hall. This included:

 Grades 1–6 math teachers from elementary schools

 Grades 7–10 math teachers from junior high schools

IV. Highlights of the Activity

 Opening Remarks by Purisima J. Yap

 Overview of the Rapid Math Assessment presented by Imelda S. Bentillo
 Orientation on Tools and Guidelines: Discussion on administration protocols,
assessment tools, scoring guides, and data consolidation templates.
 Hands-on Demonstration and Workshop: Teachers conducted mock assessments and
simulated scoring sessions.
 Q&A/Open Forum to clarify procedures and address concerns.
 Closing Remarks emphasizing the importance of data-driven instruction and timely
assessment implementation.

V. Outputs

 Participants were provided with digital and printed copies of the RMA tools.
 Teachers completed simulation activities to demonstrate mastery of the procedures.
 Schools received clear timelines and reporting protocols for assessment implementation.

VI. Observations and Insights

 Teachers expressed appreciation for the clear guidelines and practical workshop.
 There was active engagement throughout the sessions, reflecting readiness for
implementation.

VII. Conclusion and Recommendations

The orientation successfully met its objectives, preparing teachers to implement the Rapid Math
Assessment with fidelity and accuracy. To ensure effective use of assessment data, it is
recommended that:

1. Schools strictly adhere to the given assessment and reporting timelines.

2. Future trainings include data analysis and remediation planning workshops.

Data-driven instruction was emphasized to ensure that teaching strategies are informed by actual student performance data, allowing for targeted interventions to address identified learning gaps. It plays a crucial role in educational assessment by transforming raw data into actionable insights, guiding instruction methods for improved student outcomes .

The orientation prepared schools by providing teachers with clear timelines, reporting protocols, and comprehensive training on the assessment's administrative and scoring processes. This preparation ensured that teachers could consistently apply the guidelines across various grade levels, thereby supporting accurate and faithful implementation of the RMA .

Focusing on familiarizing teachers with the RMA's structure and content was key to the orientation's success because it laid the foundation for understanding and administering the assessment accurately. This familiarity empowered teachers to approach the assessment with confidence and clarity, ensuring uniformity in execution and ultimately enhancing the reliability of the data collected .

Two key measures recommended to ensure effective use of assessment data were strict adherence to the given assessment and reporting timelines and the inclusion of future training sessions focusing on data analysis and remediation planning workshops. These steps are intended to enhance the impact of data-driven instruction .

The provision of digital and printed copies of RMA tools equipped teachers with ongoing access to necessary resources, supporting them in accurately implementing and executing the assessments. These materials served as reference guides to ensure consistency and adherence to the assessment's protocols beyond the orientation .

The orientation's structure, consisting of opening and closing remarks, overviews, discussions, hands-on simulations, and a Q&A forum, facilitated comprehensive teacher training. This multi-faceted approach helped align understanding, encourage interactive learning, and solidify teachers' mastery over the administrative processes of the RMA, effectively achieving its objectives .

The division-wide orientation aimed to support mathematics teachers by familiarizing them with the RMA structure and content, training them on proper administration and scoring, and ensuring accurate, consistent data collection across grade levels. Additionally, it promoted data-driven instruction through hands-on demonstrations, simulations, and an open forum to address any concerns .

The workshops addressed practical aspects of RMA administration by providing hands-on demonstrations and simulated scoring sessions. These activities allowed teachers to practice conducting mock assessments, thereby enhancing their understanding and mastery of the procedures needed for precise implementation of the RMA in their schools .

Teachers were actively engaged and appreciative of the clear guidelines and practical workshops provided during the orientation. This positive response indicated high levels of readiness and commitment to implementing the Rapid Math Assessment, as reflected by their participation and feedback during the sessions .

The primary purpose of the Rapid Math Assessment (RMA) is to address learning gaps and establish baseline data for mathematics proficiency among Grades 1 to 10 learners. This initiative aims to equip teachers with the skills and tools necessary for effective assessment administration, ensuring accurate data collection and promoting data-driven instruction .
