Campus Trait Investigation
To observe and record whether selected individuals within the campus have the genetic trait.
Dimples – Small indentations on the cheeks when smiling.
INSTRUCTIONS:
• Approach Politely
o Say: “Good [morning/afternoon], we are conducting a short activity for our
science class. May we ask you a few questions and observe your traits related
to genetics?”
o If they say yes, proceed. If not, thank them and move on.
• Ask the Questions One by One
o Have them respond or show the trait as needed:
1. “Can you smile so we can see if you have dimples?”
2. “Are you aware of any family members who also have this trait?”
• Interview at Least 25 People
o Try to get responses from a mix of students, teachers, and staff.
• Respect Privacy
o Do not force anyone to participate.
o Do not take photos unless they give permission.
• Summarize Your Findings
o After collecting your data, count the number of people who have the trait.
