“Drug Addiction” phase is made by two words:

What is meant by a Drug?

Any substance, other than food, used in the prevention,
diagnosis or treatment of a disease is called a drug. A drug
may also be defined as a chemical which is taken in a way
that alters the body's function. The drug is also known as
medicine commonly. Generally the term drug is applied
to any stimulating or depressing substance that can
turn addictive.

Meaning of Addiction:
Addiction is the habitual, psychological dependence on a
substance or a practice which is beyond voluntary control.
A person who is habituated to a substance or a practice,
specially a harmful one, is called an addict.
The aim and objectives of this project are as follows:
ľ) To improve proficiency in English language.
?) To learn how to conduct a survey using questions medium.
3) To study the impact of drug addiction on our Common
people.
4) To Learn how to do research using survey as tool.
5) To know the present status of drug abuse by street
children.
6) Recommend how the problem can be uprooted.
The project has been completed by following the Steps
below. Firstly, I chose the best approach to Enhance
English proficiency and decided to work on. Then, I
selected a completely appropriate topic for My project.
After this, I conducted various activities as outlined.

• Initially, I designed the cover and top of the project File.

• A survey was carried out using a common Questionnaire.
• Data was collected offline.
• A framework report was prepared by analyzing the
Collected data.
• A questionnaire was prepared, incorporating suggestions
from subject experts where necessary.
• I conducted research on different websites, searching
for audio and video content to understand and present the
topic.
• Finally, the report was compiled.
A study was conducted on the topic of drug addiction
among people. Their views and opinions on the subject were
gathered. I conducted the survey within local community
and collected data from around 15 to 18 participants aged
35 to 45 years. The responses were organized and collated
in questionnaire form to produce a comprehensive report.
ľ. How can we help if they are on drugs?
?. Why do some people get addicted while others do not?

4. What are the effects of drugs on people's mind?
5. How do drugs infiltrate our society?
6. What is the role of drugs in anyone's life?
7. How do drugs enter anyone's life?
8. How can we tell if a friend is taking drugs?
9. List the frequency and precautions to protect someone
from addiction.
ľ0. How can we help someone out of this situation?
ANSWER 1:- When people were asked how we can Help
someone if they are on drugs, I received various Responses
from different individuals. Eighty percent of people
mentioned that mainly students and Teenagers use drugs,
and it's often easy to overlook Signs that are right in
front of you. Forty percent of Respondents suggested
that parents should be strict with their children, while
others recommended Seeking help from therapists. Some
individuals Emphasized the importance of talking to loved
ones and not waiting until they hit rock bottom to offer
Support. They emphasized the need to express Concern
and provide assistance on the journey to Recovery. This
suggests that there are multiple Ways people believe we
can help those struggling with drug addiction.

ANSWER 2:- In response to the question about why Some

people become addicted while others do not. I received a
range of diverse answers from individual:
A significant 90% of respondents suggested that
individuals who already have underlying disorders are prone
to addiction. About 20% of people mentioned that some
individuals become addicted to drugs due to their desire
to lead a high-spirited life and associate with others who
are mentally at ease, while some individuals are not prone
to addiction. Another 20% stated that people may become
addicted to drugs due to genetic and developmental
factors. Moreover, 50% of respondents believed that
living among people who use drugs increases the livelihood
of one getting involved with drugs. Based on these
responses, it can be concluded that various environmental
factors play a significant role in the development of drug
addiction.

ANSWER 3:- Drugs often contain dopamine, a

neurotransmitter responsible for pleasurable feelings.
However, using drugs can impair the ability to perform
essential life activities to perform essential life activities
effectively. Addiction involves a substantial alteration in
the brain's reward system, with increased dopamine
signaling leading to heightened reward-seeking behavior,
ultimately reinforcing the cycle of drug use.
ANSWER 4:- When people were queried about the Effects
of drug consumption on the human mind, Diverse responses
emerged. Around 40% of Respondents indicated that with
repeated drug use, The brain adapts to the effects.
Another 40% Mentioned that stimulant drugs can trigger
Dopamine surges, while 20% associated drug use with
feelings of depression or anxiety. Some Individuals also
emphasized that heavy drug usage Can bring about
profound alterations in the brain, Influencing an
individual's thoughts and behaviors. This indicates that
drug addiction can stem from the Impact of drug
consumption on the mind.

ANSWER 5:- Our knowledge of addictive psychoactive

substances is supported by evidence found in the earliest
human records. Throughout history, psychoactive
substances have been utilized by Various societies for a
range of purposes, including:-
ľ) Priests in religious ceremonies.
?) Healers for medicinal purposes.
3) The general population in a socially approved way:
• Alcohol • Caffeine • Nicotine
ANSWER 6:-When people were asked about the necessity
of drugs in their lives, various responses were obtained.
Around 40% of individuals Mentioned that drug use
becomes habitual for some. Another 30% indicated that
people turn to drugs to cope with loneliness, emotional
challenges, and to manage aspects of their professional or
personal lives. Additionally, there were those who believed
that feelings of frustration, weakness, and inertia Could
lead some individuals to use drugs.

ANSWER 7:- There exists a delicate distinction between

regular drug use, drug abuse, and addiction. Those
engaged in drug abuse and those who have become addicts
can often perceive when they've surpassed that threshold.
Although frequency doesn't necessarily equate to the
quantity of drug use, it can serve as an indicator of
potential issues. If drug use serves a significant purpose,
you might find yourself increasingly dependent on it. You
may resort to using illicit substances to soothe
restlessness or boost self- assurance.
ANSWER 8:- Friends play an essential role in our lives, and
it’s natural for concerns to arise if any of them engage in
harmful practices like substance abuse. Detecting drug
consumption isn’t always straightforward; behaviors such
as excessive drinking, smoking, or drug use might not be
immediately apparent. Nonetheless, there are signs that
could indicate someone’s involvement with drugs even if
they try to hide it:-
e) Attempts to conceal red, teary eyes resulting from
drug use.
b) Behavioral shifts, like changes in personality or
increased inactivity.
c) Drastic mood fluctuations or mood swings.
d) Heightened agitation or irritability, which can be out
of character.
Being attentive to these physical and behavioral cues can
help identify potential drug-related concerns.
ANSWER 9:- When people were questioned about
precautions to prevent someone from addiction, Diverse
responses emerged from various individuals. About 40% of
respondents emphasized the Importance of engaging in
daily activities and Maintaining a sense of purpose.
Additionally, 36% of People suggested avoiding tempting
situations and Peer pressure. Some individuals also
mentioned the significance of seeking assistance from
therapists or Professionals when dealing with substance
abuse Issues. These responses underline the various
approaches people believe can be taken to prevent
addiction.

ANSWER 10:- All of the following strategies can make a

difference in the community and help people around us:-
e) Organize an awareness event.
b) We should share our knowledge and experience with
people.
c) We should promote positive mental health.
d) Volunteers will organize in your community to
Support the cause.
s) Promote community building activity.
For the project, I interviewed people in my neighborhood
and also some of my friends and relatives to find out their
views and opinions on drug addiction. The project gave us
an insight into the impact of drug addiction in detail. I
really enjoyed the opportunity of working on the project.
It was not only exciting to do something like this for the
first Time, but it also helped me learn many things Through
the project. I learned how to interview people on topics for
a project, how to formulate a Questionnaire and choose a
topic, and for the how, I learned how to interview people
and how to formulate questions in a logical sequence to
reach a conclusion. It also taught me how to beautify a
project work and how it should be presented. By working
under the guidance of my English teacher, I also
understood the importance of guidance for the first time
in achieving any task.

Summing up, the guidance throughout the project has

been wonderful. Doing this project under the guidance of
the subject teacher, Suvojit Karar, has Been a rewarding
experience.
Drug addiction causes a significant amount of disability
worldwide. Although the problem of drugs may seem
impossible to eliminate, steps can be taken to weaken the
hold of drugs on society. Addiction treatment can help
individuals stop using drugs, maintain a drug-free lifestyle,
and achieve productive functioning in the family, work,
and society. The factors responsible for drug abuse and
addiction are wide and varied. Effective practices, along
with proper diagnosis and treatment is required.
