as shown in figure 07 the design max moment is taken to be 225 Kn.
m and its shown in shown in
figure 06 & 08 that value is reduced to be near 100 after 1 meter only So in this case we will use
additional steel in the high moment area only which is less than 1 % of the pond
Even if we recalculated the pages 21 &24 &27 using the max moment 225 Kn.m using T14@200
instead of T20@150 it will be safe under all the cases as shown in the next pages using same
calculating equations and codes check the following pages
7- The mass concrete weight
Figure 09 Page 27 from the design report the mass concrete weight is 25 KN/m3
Figure 10 page 14 from same report concrete unit weight is 22 KN/m3
From Figures 09 and 10 the reinforcement weight should be 300 KG per cubic meter and it is not
exceeding 66 KG per cubic meter for T20@150
NOTE: we will consider PCC unit weight as 24 KN/m3 and RCC unit weight as 25 KN/m3
BGS redesign and calculations According to Attached Design Pages
Option 01 only clearing the mistakes and change the RCC thickness
1- local axis are in the same direction the strip sides are restrained
Figure 09 local axes directions
2- change the RCC thickness to 350 mm instead of 1000 mm
3- change the mass concrete load on the base to 33.12 KN instead of 22 KN
Redesigned
thickness unit weight
thickness (mm) (mm) (KN/m3)
load (KN) load (KN)
RCC 1000 22 350 25 8.75
PCC 1000 22 1380 24 33.12
total 2000 44 1730 41.87
4- change the mass concrete load on the sides to 3.6 KN instead of 22 KN
redesigned

Figure 10 Mass concrete load
Figure 11 water load
6- change the water load to triangular load start at 3.3 KN at the top to 50 KN at the base as shown in figure 11
7- change the uplifting load to triangular load till the maximum level
Figure 12 uplifting load
8- change the restrains instead of 04 points only it should be restrained from the sides for (Ux,Uy,Rz)
The result from the running the same model after mentioned adjustments
Max. Bearing capacity 93.801 KN/m2 < 120 KN/m2 accepted
Max. Settlement = 13.028 mm
H = 350 mm
Vu = 79.554 KN
Mu = 70.708 KN.M
Ma = 50.506 KN.M
This will result to reinforced concrete thickness 350 mm and reinforced with T12@166 (1000/6) in both directions top
and bottom reinforcement
