AMD
Accumulation | Manipulation | Distribution
AMD put in simple terms is a concept that is completely opposite to the
Typical “Retail range Breakout” strategy, and is an in depth strategy on how
Large institutions Manipulate the markets to their advantage.

What is “Retail range breakout strategy”?

Range breakout trading is one of the major retail theories out

there. When price consolidates most of the retail traders sets
a buy order above the range high & a sell order below the
range low.

They are expecting price to trade outside the range &

continue that move.
AMD
Accumulation | Manipulation | Distribution
In reality price tends to do the exact opposite of what most expect.

This is how institutions trap retail traders, they create these common pattern's in the
market to convince retail into buying or selling this is turning retail traders into liquidity.

On the other side the institutions are predicting that retail traders would enter on either
side, so they raid these zones to fulfill their orders, using the liquidity that the retail
traders have provided by putting their stops within those areas allowing institutions to
scoop up their orders.

But, if institutions are the market makers & they have control over the market
moves , why do they need to use retail traders as Liquidity?

Well around 80% of the volumes in the markets is done by the institutions & the
rest of the 20% is the retail traders contribution.

So they always uses retail to be their counterparty to avoid

liquidity issues during executions.

Now lets see how large institutions & banks manipulate markets to their
advantage & trap retail traders by explaining each phases of AMD.
Accumulation
Accumulation | Manipulation | Distribution
In reality price tends to do the exact opposite of what most expect.

Accumulation is when price sits in range consistently consolidating

Price neither moves higher or lower but sits within the same zone as shown above

During this Consolidation / Accumulation phase price tends to create consistent

candles with large wicks and small bodies

This phase tends to act like the “calm before the storm”, it sits and rests within this
zone before erupting into either direction

Its best to avoid these scenarios as price is unpredictable without more confirmation
Manipulation
Accumulation | Manipulation | Distribution

Manipulation occurs when institutions quickly move price in either direction triggering
retail traders orders, such as entries and or stop loss orders that traders have set.

In the picture above you can assume retail traders had entered a short with stop losses
above those highs, so Institutions will push price up quickly to trigger those orders before
reversing aggressively in the opposing direction.
Distribution
Accumulation | Manipulation | Distribution

Distribution is rather simple as its just the large move made

after the manipulation phase.

Trading AMD with a Technical Edge

Never trade the AMD concept as a simple chart pattern, you

ALWAYS need a technical edge to trade any concept.

With AMD we want to utilize higher time frame confluences for a

higher probability setup, for example Higher time frame liquidity
such as Fair Value Gaps (FVGS), Highs and lows, Order Blocks Ect.
Superyeti
AMD Entry Model

1. Find an area on the chart where price has been consolidating

for a significant amount of time.

Main consolidation

2. After finding a consolidation within the market, Look at the

corresponding markets (EX. XAU/USD and GC1!) to see if price is
making small moves in either direction like shown below

Correlating pair Correlating pair

[Bullish] [Bearish]
Superyeti
AMD Entry Model
If the correlated pair is trading slightly lower in price Compared to
the Main pair, wait for the Main Pairs Highs to be manipulated.

Correlated Pair Main Pair

(XAU/USD) (GC1!)

If the correlated pair is trading slightly higher in price Compared to

the Main pair, wait for the Main Pairs Lows to be manipulated.

Detailed Examples
In this example we will be using GC1! and XAU/USD

Step 1:
Finding our consolidation in price.

Step 2:
GC1! and XAU/USD are highly correlated pairs, so we look within the
structure of XAU/USD and found that it was making lower lows
while, GC1! was consolidating.

This indicates weakness on the of both pairs as they are not

perfectly correlating.

Step 3:
Since we are expecting weakness in GC1!, we need to Look for the
consolidation highs to be manipulated and for distribution to the
down side.
