Script talkshow:
Tram: Good morning everyone, I am Quế Trâm, a member of Huỳnh Ngọc
Huệ media club. I have invited two students of our school to be at our
talkshow today and we gonna talk about Generation Gap.
( Ngan + Khiem đi vo,chao,giới thiệu )
Ngan: My name is Ngan.
Khiem: I am Khiêm.
Both: We are very glad to join the talkshow today.
Trâm: Thank you all for spending time being here today. So, to talk about a
really hot issue, what do you think that is truly called “Generation Gap”?
Khiêm: I think GG means the differences of attitudes between the young and
the older generation in many fields of our lives.
Trâm: How about you, Ngân?
Ngân: I have the same idea as Khiêm, GG to me is the distance about
lifestyles, thinking and behaviors between people from various age groups.
Trâm: So, have you ever faced up to this issue in your life?
Ngân: Yes, actually. My grandmother lives next to my house so she usually
drops by to see us. She usually sees me using smartphone or watching the TV
and starts to grumble against me although I just relax after studying.
Khiem: I don’t live with my grandparents so I have never been in that
situation. But you know, I am trying really hard to be an artist but my parents
require me to study abroad to find a better job, they told me that artist was not
a stable job and expected me to become a successful businessman.
Tram: I understand your difficulties. My family is much more comfortable
than both of you, they encourage me to follow my dream and thoroughly
understand my problems even when they are in different ages to me.
Khiem: This problem makes me feel extremely tired and drives me mad.
Sometimes I ask for their permission but it all turns into a terrible argument.
Ngan : I used to try to explain to my grandma that I just used it for my
legitimate (chính đáng) purpose but she didn’t understand, and kept
complaining about it. Since then, I have started to ignore her and the
relationship between us has become much worse.
Tram: Gg seems to affect your life badly, right? I have met many people who
are in the same situation like you guys. So, do you know why does this
problem exist?
Khiem: From my perspective, this problem is mainly caused due to the
continuous development of technology, the elders refuse to get access to the
new thing like the Internet. On the other hand, the youth of today tend to get
rid of the old things, especially career choices and lifestyles, they want to do
the things they like, which is exceedingly different from the old one.
Ngan: So, have you come up with any ideas to deal with this problem, Tram ?
Tram: I think that your close relatives just want to help you but you know,
because of gg so they don’t really know the way to express it in a logical way.
Ngan: You mean that they just hope us to live an ideal life like they think,
don’t you?
Tram: Exactly. The best option to deal with this problem is learning how to
communicate with our close relatives. Not only do we confide with them
about our decisions, our chosen fields, our dreams and our goals but also
listen to their desires to entirely understand each other.
Ngan: Oh, by this they will know what is good for us and permit us to do the
things that we want. This effort maybe gradually improve the situation and
mutual understanding.
Tram: Another way that we can do to decrease the gap between the elder and
the younger is that we can have a trip or a holiday together. In the trip, it is
important that people have the opportunity to escape the daily busy life,
spending all time with each other without being distracted by work or
technology equipment. The moments of sharing at the meal, conquering the
challenges on the way together, or immersing themselves in peaceful natural
scenery, contributing to deepening the unity.
Khiem: That is excellent, Tram. I think it is a reasonable way for me to solve
gg in my family and persuade them to let me follow my dream.
Ngan: I will apply your ways to get on with my grandmother and make this
relationship become better day by day.
Tram: I will be really happy if my options can help you guys to overcome gg
and improve your [Link] talkshow has ended successfully. Thank you for
