9. Do you think schools should use more technology to help children learn?
10. Do you agree or disagree that computers will replace teachers one day?
11. Could you suggest some reasons why some people are deciding to reduce their use of
computers?
There are two reasons that come to mind. Firstly, maybe because some people see their
excessive use of this gadget like spending hours scrolling mindlessly through social media,
they find this wastes a great deal of their time. Secondly, being glued to computers is
extremely damaging to their eyes. Many people end up being short-sighted. So, they make
up their mind to reduce the use of computers.
- excessive /ekˈses.ɪv/ (adj): nhiều quá mức
- be glued to /ɡluːd/ (idiom): dán mắt vào cái gì
- short-sighted /ˌʃɔːtˈsaɪ.tɪd/ (adj): bị cận
- make up one’s mind to do something (idiom): quyết định làm gì
12. How has the Internet changed the way we work?
Nowadays, people can work regardless of time zone and geographical boundaries thanks to
the Internet. To be more specific, they don’t have to go to the office or be physically present
to collaborate with colleagues, but they can still get work done. That’s why coffee shops are
now a great place for people to come to work. Besides, while meetings were held in physical
rooms in the past, now web conferencing tools facilitate remote meetings. I mean people
can collaborate with each other without meeting face to face as they used to, which saves a
great deal of time and costs.
- regardless of /rɪˈɡɑːd.ləs/ (prep): bất kể
- collaborate with somebody /kəˈlæb.ə.reɪt/ (verb): hợp tác với ai
- web conferencing /ˈkɒnfərənsɪŋ/ (noun): hội nghị trực tuyến
- facilitate something /fəˈsɪl.ɪ.teɪt/ (verb): tạo điều kiện cho cái gì
- face to face (adv): trực tiếp
13. Do you think the Internet is safe for children to use unsupervised?
I suppose that it’s harmful for children to use the Internet without their parents’ supervision
due to several clear risks it brings to them. First of all, as children are still young, they’re
easily tempted to click on inappropriate content like violent scenes or sexual images on the
web, which has a negative impact on their development. Secondly, children might become
the victim of cyberbullying. If this lasts too long, it would give them a sense of anxiety and
depression.
- supervision /ˌsuː.pəˈvɪʒ.ən/ (noun): sự giám sát
- tempt to do something /tempt/ (verb): cám dỗ làm điều gì
- cyberbullying /ˈsaɪ.bəˌbʊl.i.ɪŋ/ (noun): nạn bắt nạt trên mạng
- a sense of anxiety and depression /æŋˈzaɪ.ə.ti/ /dɪˈpreʃ.ən/ (noun phr.): cảm giác lo
lắng và trầm cảm
14. Do you think many people waste their time online?
Yes, I think that a lot of individuals, especially young people, spend most of their time on
social media platforms such as Facebook or Instagram, which is a huge waste of time. They
often do not take advantage of the Internet to do something helpful for their study or work.
For example, some high-school students waste their time on surfing Facebook or watching
films instead of enrolling in an online course to improve their knowledge of English grammar
to prepare for their entrance exam.
- social media platform /ˈplæt.fɔːm/ (noun phr.): các nền tảng mạng xã hội
- take advantage of something /ədˈvɑːn.tɪdʒ/ (idiom): tận dụng điều gì
15. What impacts does the internet have on schools?
I think the Internet has contributed to several huge impacts on education. Firstly, thanks to
the development of the Internet, schools are now equipped with many state-of-the-art
technologies such as interactive whiteboards which help students learn more effectively.
Moreover, the Internet helps Internet-based education become increasingly popular in
schools and universities.
- equip something with something /ɪˈkwɪp/ (verb): trang bị với cái gì
- state-of-the-art /ˌsteɪt.əv.ðiːˈɑːt/ (adj): tối tân
- interactive whiteboard /ˌɪn.təˈræk.tɪv ˈwaɪt.bɔːd/ (noun phr.): bảng tương tác
- Internet-based education (noun phr.): học trực tuyến
16. What can people do with the Internet in the future? And how?
I think that the internet would dominate many aspects in the future. For example, Japan is
planning to create cranes and diggers monitored via the Internet to reduce demand for blue-
collar workforce, which means the Internet will appear in construction sites to replace
humans. Another example is a driverless car with an on-board computer connected with the
Internet, so we may no longer worry about traffic accidents anymore.
- blue-collar workforce /ˌbluːˈkɒl.ər/ (noun phr.): công nhân lao động chân tay
- construction site /kənˈstrʌk.ʃən/ (noun): công trường
- driverless car /ˈdraɪ.və.ləs/ (noun): xe ô tô tự lái
