Configure and Administrate server-Practical Assessment
Hardware and networking level –III
 Project One:- You have been ask by management to design and implement a
windows server based network for the Tegbare-Id PolyTechnic College
1. Connect necessary peripheral device of both computer and make ready for
Windows Server 2008 and Windows XP installation.
2. First make ready the three computers & format one of the computer using Windows
Servers 2003 & format the other two computers using Windows XP.
3. Install necessary device drivers for the computers
4. Established local area network connection among the server and client
5. Install & configure active directory & DNS to manage the features specified

6. Install and configure DHCP server using IP ranges ([Link] – [Link])
7. Set a computer name
A. Server Computer = Misraka01
B. Client Computer 1 = MisrakTextile
C. Client Computer 2 = MisrakICT
8. Create a two Organization Unit Textile & ICT
9. Create two group under Textile Group1 and under ICT Group2
10. Create the following users under each groups
GROUP 1 Abraham Fekadu & Melat Belete

GROUP 2 Kedir Mohammed & Peter Okial

11. Peter Okial user account should be changing password at the first logon
12. Join the two client computer with the domain
13. Set a group policy for Group1 users cannot access the network Sunday and Saturday
14. Make one of the users found in Group2 cannot access to log-in on Saturday from
2:00 AM – 7:00 AM
15. User Kedir Mohammed from Group2 user account cannot access MisrakTextile
computer

16. Configure the server to be accessed remotely from the client side of the computer
17. Create the directory on d:\textileresourses and secure only accessed by the ICT
department.
18. Turn off windows firewall for server computer
(Note: - Install the above roles using Typical Installation by using the above
configuration information)

 Project Two:- Make a internet cafe proposal for Ato Akalu


List of requirement
1. Describe the necessary hardware components including office equipments for
Akalu’s internet café that support 10 users on the network
2. Itemize(list) all necessary software requirement
3. Which topology do you prefer? Write the advantage and disadvantage of your
preferred topology.
4. Where do found the internet service and state the internet type and bandwidth
suitable for Ato Akalu’ s internet café
5. Draw the logical network diagram for the internet café
6. Prepare the network installation and configuration action plan for Ato Akalu’s
internet café
 Project Three:- Prepared by using power point
1. How to access the server computer or the network from client computer
environment
2. How to access network resource
3. Security issue using the client and server computer
4. First step network troubleshooting tips
5. Turn on windows firewall
 Project Four:- Interview and Demonstration
1. Show the client is join to the server
2. Ping from server to other client
3. Show what you did on the password policy
4. Show users membership
5. Show the server computer IP address using DOS command
6. Show how to access the server remotely
