FRICTION—force that oppose relative motion
between two objects in contact with each other
Pushing force Motion
Friction
CAUSE OF FRICTION
It arise due to irregularities present in
them
All surface have iiregularities
When two surface come in contact
irregularities interlock
When sufficient force is applied
interlocking brreak
Surface of book
Surface of

Surface of table
FACTORS THAT AFFECT FRICTION
Nature of surface-rough surface=more
friction,smooth surface = less friction
Weight of the body-greater the weight greater
the force of friction,as it will press harder into
irregularities
TYPES OF FRICTION
STATC FRICTION-when they are at rest in respect
to each other,it tend to keep object at rest,if
force applied is smaller than friction it does not
[Link] minimum force required to move an
object is called limiting friction
NO
FORCE MOTION
FRICTION
SLIDING FRICTION-beween two object when
one of them slide on surface of another,
irregularities do not get enough time to
interlock, smaller force needed to keep it moving
Force motion
Friction
ROLLING FRICTION – when an object rolls
over another object . rolling reduces friction . it is
easy to move heavy object with wheels
FORCE
MOTION
FRICTION
FLUID FRICTION – fluids is name of gases
and liquids. Fluids also exerts a force of friction
when object moves through them
FACTORS AFFECTING FLUID FRICTION
NATURE OF FLUID – denser the fluid more will be
the friction and vice versa
SHAPE OF THE BODY – friction also depends on
shape of the body. Streamlined object
experiences less friction
SURFACE AREA OF THE BODY – more the surface
area more is the friction
SPEED OF THE BODY – friction and speed are
directly proportional to each other if speed
increase fluid friction also increase
