Well, I don't want to call myself a productivity expert but there are a few strategies
that I regularly employ to optimize my work and study routine. And today, I would like
to talk about the Eisenhower Matrix, a time management tool that has truly been a
game changer for me.

I first learned about this a few years ago when I was searching for some productivity
boosters, and after some hours of researching I found this method being
recommended by many experts.

So basically the Eisenhower Matrix breaks down tasks into four different
categories based on their importance and urgency. From that point you can easily
clear your mind and create a visual roadmap of what needs your immediate
attention and what can wait or should be put on the back burner. Since I started
doing this for all of my tasks, I feel like I have entered the real work of productivity.
Many things can be done in just one day, which always gives me a good feeling of
accomplishment. You know, this is totally different from my situation a few years ago,
when I still had a struggle with managing my time for different tasks but nothing got
done.

I think this method has really changed my approach to work and study. Had it not
been for it I don't think I could get all my work and study achievements.

4. Describe a long-term goal you would like to achieve

Well, I do set a lot of goals in my life and today, I’d like to share with you one of
them. It is to learn a new language, apart from English.

This is a goal that I’ve harbored for quite some time since my trip to China a few
years ago. During that trip, I realized that having only English as my second
language might not be enough for me to survive while traveling in a non English
speaking country. That’s how the idea of becoming fluent in a new language,
especially in Chinese, started to simmer in the back of my mind.

So basically, in order to achieve this goal, I’ve been subscribing to some online
courses and language learning apps to build a foundation. Additionally, I have also
immersed myself in the language and plan to consume all the Chinese media
including movies, music and books that I can find. This exposure will definitely
acclimatize /əˈklaɪ.mə.taɪz/ my ear to nuances /ˈnjuː.ɒns/ of the language and
enhance my vocabulary.

With all the energy and effort that I have and will put into learning Chinese, I hope
that I will be able to reach the intermediate /ˌɪn.təˈmiː.di.ət/ level of proficiency /prə
ˈfɪʃ.ə[Link]/ in the near future. This would be a challenge for me but I believe the
experience of learning a new language would be so rewarding in the end. I just can't

5. Describe a piece of work you did quickly

Well, even though I am not a procrastinator prəˈkræs.tɪ.neɪ.tər, sometimes I am just
too lazy to do something and probably wait until the day before the deadline to finish
it. And today, I would like to talk about the time when I had to design a Powerpoint
presentation at lightning speed, just a few hours before the deadline.

As I vividly remember, this happened when I was in the 11th grade. Even though I
had already finished the analysis and submitted the review to my professor, I was
due to make a presentation. But unfortunately, I had completely miscalculated the
presenting date and it was not until the night before the deadline did I realize my
error.

With the clock ticking, I sprang into action immediately and tried my best to gather all
of my research notes and distill them into key points. As my research topic was a bit
complex, I had to use charts and bullet points as well as some images to break up
the text and add visual interest, making my presentation not boring. To be honest,
this whole experience was both frustrating and rewarding at the same time. While I
actually had some time to reflect on myself and my lack of planning, I was also
brimming over with a sense of accomplishment as I was able to beat the clock. But if
you ask me whether I would like to do this again, I would probably say no. The
frustration was too overwhelming and the satisfaction afterwards was not worth it all.

6. Describe an impressive work of art (such as a painting) you saw

Today, I would like to tell you about a piece of art that I’m particularly interested in
which so-called “Đám cưới chuột” or named “Rat’s wedding” in English.

This picture illustrates a popular example and the best-selling painting of Dong Ho
village, which is mainly bought and displayed on the occasion of Lunar New Year
celebration. The contents of this painting are humorous and optimistic, therefore, it
brings good fortune in the upcoming years.
Additionally, I remembered that I first saw this painting in my primary buddy’s house.
Actually, this painting caught the little girl’s imagination at that moment. I feel like I
had a sense of curiosity to figure out what the painting’s implications were.

Furthermore, when I grew up, I tried to explore more about this painting’s meanings
over the Internet. Therefore, I realized that the fascinating themes behind this picture
were a wedding march with the rat bride and groom and other rat guests. All of them
were delivering gifts to a big cat in hope that the couple would have a nice
anniversary. Thus, this painting implies that a wedding happens happily and
peacefully in front of their rivals because of an excellent negotiation.

Last but not least, thanks to the picture, I’ve shown a keener interest in the art field.
Hopefully, I will be able to lay my eyes on this masterpiece to admire its beauty in
Dong Ho village one day.

7. Describe a job that you do not like to do

I’ll tell you about an extremely demanding job that I’ll probably never want to do in the
future. It’s being a doctor.

If you ask me 15 years ago, I would probably still consider “becoming a doctor” as
one of my greatest ambitions. However, as I grew up, I soon realized that I just don’t
have what it takes to become a doctor.

Being a doctor basically means you’re responsible for people's lives and that
pressure is already too much for most people to take. It takes nerves of steel to not
panic and an insane level of composure to make the right decision in response when
you’re performing a surgery. I’ve seen so many young doctors who collapsed
physically and mentally, when they saw someone draw his last breath on their own
hands, or realized they were just minutes away from saving an unfortunate victim.
Such devastating blows are enough to break the will of an ordinary person. But as a
doctor, you have no other choices but to pick yourself up and move on.

Apart from such immense pressure, being a doctor also requires a high level of
expertise, which can only be accumulated through many years of training and things
like work-life balance is often a luxury.

I think by now you can already see why I never want to be a doctor, even though it’s
one of the most well-paid and respected professions.

8. Describe a science subject that you are interested in

Well, to be honest with you, science subjects have never been my thing. I mean I
can not wrap my mind around the complex concepts and principles in these subjects.
But if I had to pick one that is my most favorite, I think I would go for biology.
Don’t take me wrong. When it comes to biology as a subject at high school, it is still
very tedious for me. But when I look at biology from a different perspective, I find it
quite intriguing and actually useful.

I mean, it was several months ago when I tried to lose some weight and looked up
some information on the Internet. I was amazed when I found out a lot of eye-
opening information when it comes to how our body works. Like before, I always
thought that we should try to eliminate carbohydrates altogether from our diet
because it’s the nutrient that makes us fat. But actually, it is a very essential nutrient
for our body, for metabolism məˈtæbəlɪzəm and especially brain functions. As a
senior student, who really needs to focus on study, I should not avoid eating
carbohydrates. Instead, I should choose a healthy carbohydrate to consume such as
whole grain and brown rice for example.

And that was really an eye-opening experience for me and I realized that actually
biology can be really practical and relevant to our life.

their own beauty and do not shy away from showing their imperfections like stretch
marks, scars or wrinkles. The video really embodies the slogan that beauty is not
one size fits all, a very powerful message to all women for me. This advertisement is
incredibly important in today's world, where beauty standards have been boxed into
a specific mold and Dove has done a great job in breaking away and conveying a
more inclusive understanding of beauty.

Thanks to the message, I think women around the world would be more willing to
embrace their imperfections and wear them with pride. Even though it's only a short
advertisement of less than 60 seconds it has actually received 1,000,000 views,
across all platforms, which is a significant number for any product advertisement of
this kind.

I hope that in the future, more and more advertisements will be able to not just sell
the products, but to contribute to the movement toward a more accepting and
understanding world.

12. Describe a movie or film you saw that you felt strongly about
Well, this topic immediately brought me back to the time when I saw the film
Moonlight at a local cinema a few years ago.

It is actually an Oscar-winning masterpiece. I decided to watch this film after it

received so much critical acclaim in the cinematic world. And I was not disappointed.

So basically, the film was about a young African-American boy named Chiron, who
went through three different stages of his life. In the film, he encountered many
challenges while grappling with his identity and sexuality. The theme was quite
unique itself, so I really gained some new perspectives on the themes of masculinity
ˌmæskjəˈlɪnəti and vulnerability ˌvʌlnərəˈbɪləti of minority groups.

Before watching the film, I hadn't really expected so much prejudice ˈpredʒədɪs and
unfairness against coloured people in America like that. What struck me extremely
deeply about this film was its raw and authentic portrayal of life. That's usually life in
the shadows. It was like watching a documentary instead of a film, which speaks
volumes about how realistic the shots and the film in general were.

For me, my experience of watching this film went beyond anything that I had felt. All
the characters' struggles and triumphs really resonated with me. So, Moonlight truly
left a lasting imprint on me, and I would love to recommend this to film lovers who
want to gain new perspectives on lives of the vulnerable.

13. Describe a photo that makes you happy

So I’m gonna share with you the photo of my family, which was taken at my mother’s
last birthday.

It was a very special birthday because instead of holding a party at home as usual,
we decided to drive our own car to Da Lat for a change of pace and also to throw a
surprise party for my mother. My brother and I secretly hit the party supplies in the
trunk and be careful to not spill the beans. alfway along our trip, my dad told my
mother that we would make a pit stop at a local homestay to stretch our legs and at
that time she still bought it. And while my dad took my mom out for a walk, we
sprang into action, hanging on the streamers and the balloon around the house and
we also prepared a birthday cake and the look on my mom’s face when she walked
into the party zone was priceless. Her eyes lifted up and she smiled from ear to ear
and we asked the staff to take a picture of my family. We all clustered around my
mom while she was blowing the candle in her birthday cake.

Of course, it was not the highest quality picture we have ever had, I mean it was shot
in low light by a camera phone but we look like the happiest people in the world. I
love the picture so much that I framed it and put it on my table. and you know,
whenever I look at this picture, it kind of take me on a trip down to the memory lane
to that wonderful time that our family had together.
