The objective of this project:

1. To develop students’ understanding of the development of Fintech in

Malaysia.

2. To help students enhance their analytical and creativity skills in problem-

solving.

General Instructions:

1. The report should include Cover Sheet (Appendix A) and Marking Scheme
(Appendix B) before the first page of the report.

2. Standard format: Times New Roman, font size of 12, 1.5 spacing, 1.25-inch
margins.

3. Maximum page is 15 pages. All pages in the report should be numbered

except for the cover page and marking scheme.

4. References and in-text citations are required for this project and a list of the
references (APA format) should be prepared at the last part of the project
(before the appendix if any).

5. The deadline for project submission is set on 21 August 2023, (Monday of

Week 10) before 5:00 pm. All students are required to submit their project in
softcopy before the deadline, otherwise, ZERO mark will be imposed.

6. Any groups that are caught plagiarizing or letting part or whole of their work
be plagiarized will be penalized, with all the groups involved being awarded
ZERO (0) mark for the project.

PROJECT QUESTION:

WRITTEN PROJECT (50 marks)

Fintech is a term that combines “finance” and “technology”. The Fintech industry
is developing rapidly since the introduction of Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the
Covid-19 pandemic has even accelerated the growth of this industry. Investors
have to study the development of this industry because it does not only affect
firms and businesses, but it also impacts the financial market.

The development of the Fintech industry in Malaysia is still at the early stage.
Nonetheless, Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission have been
aggressively promoting various types of Fintech in Malaysia. In this project, you
are required to study ONE (1) type of Fintech in Malaysia and TWO (2)
respective companies. You may choose any one type of Fintech below:

i. E-services
ii. Robo-advisory
iii. P2P Lending
iv. Equity Crowdfunding
v. Digital Token (Cryptocurrency)

You may gather the information from various sources, such as government
reports, websites, company reports etc. Then, you have to do a presentation on
the findings of your assignment in the tutorial class during week 8 or 9.

a. Explain the development of the Fintech that you have chosen, including the
global development and development in Malaysia. (10 marks)

b. Introduce the background of the TWO (2) Malaysian companies that provide
the Fintech that you have chosen in part a. (10 marks)

c. Describe the product(s) and/or service(s) that provided by the companies

chosen in part b. Then, do a comparison on the product(s) and/or service(s).
(10 marks)

d. Identify the risk(s) that you will face when you subscribe to the product(s)
and/or service(s) that you mentioned in part c. (10 marks)

e. In your opinion, how does this Fintech affect the investment journey of
Malaysian’s investors? (10 marks)

PRESENTATION (50 marks)

1. Students are required to do a presentation on the findings of your assignment

in the tutorial class during Week 8 or 9.

2. The presentation will be assessed individually, i.e. individual mark will be

given to the students.

3. The whole presentation should be completed within 20 minutes, in which 10

minutes for individual presentation and another 10 minutes for Q&A session.

4. The assessment will be done as following:

(i) Slide Content (15 marks)

(ii) Verbal Delivery (25 marks)

(iii) Q&A Session (10 marks)

Referencing

CITATION IN THE TEXT

1. Personal communications such as interviews, telephone conversations, e-
