Shell Eco-Marathon

Official Rules 2025

1-Urban Concept Category


Dimensions:
a-Total height: between 1000mm – 1300mm.
b-Total width: between 1200mm – 1300mm.
c-Total length: between 2200mm – 3500mm.
d-Track width: Minimum 1000mm (front axle) , Minimum 800mm (rear axle).
e-Wheelbase: Minimum 1200mm.
f-Driver compartment: Minimum 880mm (height) , Minimum 700mm (width).
g-Ground clearance: Minimum 100mm.
h-Total vehicle weight: Maximum 225kg (excluding the driver).

Turning Radius:
a-Maximum turning radius of 6m.

Wheels:
a-Rims diameter: Between 14in – 18in.
Braking:
a-Brake pedal surface area: Minimum 2500mm².
b-Brake disc thickness: Minimum 3mm.
(The vehicle must remain stationary on a 20 percent incline when the parking
brake is activated).

(The brakes must operate independently on the front and rear axles or in an X
pattern).

(Each individual brake circuit must be balanced to enable the vehicle to stop in a
straight line).

(A single master cylinder may be used provided it has a dual circuit. A maximum
of two master cylinders is allowed).
2-Prototype Category
Dimensions:
a-Total height: Maximum 1000mm.
b-Track width: Minimum 500mm.
c-Ratio of height divided by track width: Less than 1.25.
d-Wheelbase: Minimum 1000mm.
e-Total width: Maximum 1300mm.
f-Total length: Maximum 3500mm.
g-Total weight: Maximum 140kg (excluding the driver).

Turning Radius:
a-Maximum turning radius of 8m.

Braking:
a-Brake pedal surface area: Minimum 10cm² with (Minimum width 3cm).
(During Technical Inspection, the whole brake system must be visible).

(The effectiveness of the braking systems will be tested during vehicle


inspection. Each brake system will be activated separately, and each individual
brake system must stop the vehicle on a 20 percent incline).

(It must be possible to activate the two brake systems at the same time without
taking either hand off the steering system).
