Reading Program in MAPEH 7
RATIONALE
Literacy in the subject MAPEH (Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health) for Grade 7 is a foundational component in nurturing well-rounded learners who are not
only academically competent but also physically active, culturally aware, artistically creative, and health-conscious. At the junior high school level, it is essential to build
and strengthen students' understanding, appreciation, and skills in these four integrated disciplines.
MAPEH literacy enables students to express themselves creatively and holistically, developing their confidence, discipline, and identity. Through Music and Arts,
learners enhance their cultural awareness and aesthetic sensitivity, while Physical Education fosters physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Health education,
on the other hand, equips them with essential knowledge to make informed decisions on personal wellness and community health.
As students transition into adolescence, MAPEH 7 addresses their emotional, social, and physical changes, guiding them toward positive behavior and responsible
citizenship. Integrating literacy into MAPEH means not only the ability to read and write, but also to understand, interpret, and apply knowledge in diverse life
situations.
Ultimately, MAPEH 7 literacy contributes to the Department of Education's mission to develop Filipinos who are Makatao, Makakalikasan, Makabansa, and Maka-
Diyos, as it promotes values formation, healthy lifestyle choices, appreciation of Filipino heritage, and active community participation.

eliminate reading difficulties, as reading intervention is the key in helping students become good readers. Students with reading difficultiesshould given support and help
