Situation: Why people get so addicted to Internet usage
Round 1 (causes)
Student A: Hi everyone, today we are here to discuss about why people are getting so
[AISA] addicted to Internet. What is your opinion on this matter, HUDA?
Student B: Thank you, AISA. In my opinion, the other cause of this issue is to look more
[HUDA] about some information. This is because people can gain knowledge and
learning something new. Other than that, people would also find various
information and news on the Internet through Google or YouTube. What do
you think about this, ADLINA?
Student C: I completely agree with you HUDA. However, I feel that Internet is a life saver
[ADLINA] for us human. What I mean about this point is you can buy your ticket
online without go psychically in certain place.
Student D: I’m sorry to interrupt ADLINA, but I don’t quite understand your point. Could you
[UMAIRAH] please explain more?
Student C: Sure, UMAIRAH. Let me explain it again to you. What I mean is that Internet
[ADLINA] can make your daily life much easier such as you can order food online
and pay it right away through online platform like FOOD PANDA or GRAB
FOOD. Now AISA, why don’t you share with us your opinion on this issue?
Student A: Sure, ADLINA. In my opinion, Internet would also provides to access
[AISA] endless entertainment. Teenagers nowadays love to entertain themselves
with watching movies, TV shows and live streaming. Other than that, some
teenagers more prefer to playing online games or streaming music. I think
that is all for the cause. Let’s proceed with other matters.
Round 2 (effects)
Student B: Okay, next we are going to discuss the effects of addicted to Internet. What is
your view regarding this issue, ADLINA?
Student C: I believe that for some reasons whoever are surfing the Internet they tend
to read something inappropriate. What do you think about this, UMAIRAH?
Student D: I totally agree with you, ADLINA. But, I also thinks that it can waste money.
This is because when you enjoying to visit the shopping online website,
the possibility to you buy something useless and invest money to
something uncertain is high.
Student A: Excuse me for interrupting you but what do you mean about that, UMAIRAH?
Could you repeat again?
Student D: Sure, AISA. Let me explain to you, for example the more you scrolling to
find the item then enter the cart section on the SHOPEE, the more you
waste your money on the things that you did not need it . Now, could you
please share your opinion on this, HUDA?
Student B: Sure, UMAIRAH. I think addicted to the entertainment leads to this matter
also. To show you what I mean I would say, playing video games for 24/7,
watch too much YouTube videos and spend too much time scrolling
TikTok.
Round 3 (solutions)
Student C: After knowing the adverse effects, we must have a solution to prevent it. Could
you please suggest a solution, UMAIRAH?
Student D: In my opinion, way to prevent this matter is to limit the usage of any
devices. In particular, people can limit online session 3-4 hours per day
not more than 4 hours. Then, make some rules about not using the
Internet after certain time everyday . What is your suggestion, AISA?
Student A: Well, my point of view people can also create new routine to change the
habits of surfing Internet because a routine can make someone more
organized and managed. Moreover, a timetable or a to do list should be an
effective way too.
Student B: Excuse me for interrupting you AISA, but I think find the suitable activities
outside should be a better idea too, right?
Student A: Yes HUDA, absolutely correct. People can join volunteering programme.
Other than that, sport activities and watering plants would do. Adlina, can
you suggest some ideas about this matter?
Student C: Sure, AISA. I’d like to suggest that keep devices inaccessible. You can
getting rid of your digital devices especially the ones bothering you a lot.
It could be gaming console, smartphones, laptop, etc. That’s all from me. I
think that's a pretty good solution for now. I think we can wrap up now.
Round 4 (values)
Student D: Before we end the discussion, let’s share what we have learned from the
discussion together. AISA, what have you learned today?
Student A: From this discussion, I learned that we should know our priorities of need
because there are many things we should do other than surfing too much
time on the Internet.
Student B: I totally agree with you, AISA. I think change the pattern of entertainment is
vital for change the habits . Then how about you, ADLINA?
Student C: Pardon me, but I don't quite understand what you're saying, HUDA.
Student B: Sure ADLINA, let me put it in other words. I believe that when we change our
interest to entertain ourselves, such as reading books or [Link]
way, we can actually reduces the habits to addiction to the Internet.
Student C: I learned that x you must know your limits when it comes to Internet
because not everything on the Internet is good. That’s the end of our
discussion today. I would like to thank everyone for providing your ideas in this
discussion.
