UNIT-3

Multiplication

Points to Remember:-
i) 7 × 9 = 63
7= multiplicand
9= multiplier
63= product

Multiplication:-
a)Multiplicand - The number to be multiply.
b)Multiplier - The number by which we multiply.
c) Product - The result we get after multiplication.

Properties of Multiplication
a)Product of two number remains the same if the order of number was changed.
131 × 28=3668
28 × 131=3668

b)Product of three numbers remain the same when the grouping of numbers is changed.
413 ×(215×5) =443975
(413×5) ×215 = 443975
(413×215) ×5 = 443975

c) When a number is multiplied by 1 the product is number itself.

23150 × 1 =23150

d) When a number is multiplied by 0, the product is 0.

3462 × 0 = 0

e) The product of a number and a sum is equal to the sum of the individual product of the
addends and the number.
8290×(584 + 96)
8290 ×584 + 8290 ×96

f) Multiply by 10, 100, 1000 and their multiples.

i)387 ×10 = 3870

3287 ×10 = 32870

ii) 175 ×100 = 17500

829 × 800= 663200
iii) 128×1000= 128000
3557× 4000= 14228000
