UNIT 7: MOVIES - LESSON 1.1
I. Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
Vocabulary: gain 6 main vocabulary items about movies (comedy, science fiction,
horror, action, drama, animated)
Skills:
Listening: Recognize the vocabulary from the scripts and catch the right
keywords.
Speaking: Able to express answers to simple questions about “Movie” topic
and discuss with their partners. Also, students can react quickly and apply
the given vocabulary into their answers.
Writing: Able to build sentences included given vocabulary to describe or
tell information about a movie.
II. Teaching aids:
- Teacher’s aids: student’s book and teacher’s book, projector/interactive
whiteboard/TV, worksheet, prepared video.
- Students’ aids: student’s book, notebook.
III. Procedures:

Warm-up
1. Greetings: Teacher –
- Introduce teacher information, whole class
- Get to know students and break the ice by some questions about their
favorite films.

- Explain the class objective, class rules and unit title.
2. Lead-in:
- “Guess the movie” game: 14 questions in total.
Device the class into 3 teams: 1 right answer get 1 point, answer the
bonus questions correctly get 2 points.
Explain the rule and start to play.

Write the words on board and ask students to write in

Have students number the pictures.
Divide the class into pairs and have students check their answers
with their partners.

Listen and fill in the table with the movie times.
Demonstrate the activity.
Play the recording with pauses for students to listen and write the
movie times in the table.

Wrap-up
1. Movie Bingo Game
16 questions about movie genres.
Explain the rules to students and play the games in 5mins. The
purpose is to review all the vocabulary taught in the lesson.
2. Classmates interview.
Students find some classmates and ask them these questions:
1. What is your favorite movie?
2. What genre is it?
3. Why do you like this movie?
Students their answers into survey table and present to the class.
Call out some pair to do the task and encourage students to practice
speaking through activities.
