Drawing Objects

❖​ To display the drawing toolbar, View -> Toolbars -> Drawing.


➢​ Steps to insert drawing object
■​ 1. Place the cursor where you want to place the object.
■​ 2. From the drawing toolbar, select the tool.
■​ 3. Click and drag to create a drawing object.
■​ 4. Release the mouse to finish the drawing.
■​ 5. To cancel the drawing function, press esc key or select

arrow icon ( ) in the drawing toolbar.


Drawing Object Properties
❖​ To modify the properties use drawing object properties from View ->
Toolbars -> Display Object properties.
Resizing and Grouping Objects
❖​ Resizing : To reduce or enlarge the size of an object.
➢​ Selecting the object.
➢​ 8 sizing handles will surround the object.
➢​ Drag to resize the object to desired size.
❖​ Grouping : To group different objects to a single entity without affecting
their size and position.
➢​ Select one object by clicking it.
➢​ Press Shift key and select other objects by clicking on them.
➢​ Select group tool in drawing object properties or Format -> Group
-> Group
➢​ This process will group the drawing objects.
■​ Four options under group. These are Group, Ungroup,
Enter Group and Exit Group.
Positioning the Image in the Text
❖​ Positioning the image is controlled by four settings.
➢​ 1. Arrangement : Position of the current drawing to other drawings
or text. There are six different arrangements.

Bring to Front Brings image on top of all images/objects

Forward One Bring the image one level up.

Back One Send the image one level down.

Send to Back Send images to the bottom of all images/objects.

To Foreground Moves the drawing object in the front of the text.


To Background Moves the drawing object behind the text.

➢​ 2. Anchoring : Acts as a reference point to the image or object.


➢​ 3. Alignment : Places the object with respect to its anchor. These
are six, vertical and horizontal.
➢​ 4. Text Wrapping : Place the image in relation to text. These are
six.

Wrap off Text is placed above and image is placed below.

Page Wrap Text flows around the image.

Optimal Page Space between image and margin is less than 2 cm then text
Wrap will not be placed on that side.

Wrap Left Text on the left side of the image.

Wrap Right Text on the right side of the image.

Wrap through Superimposes the image on the text.
