WHAT IS A LIQUID?
A liquid is the only state with a definite volume but no
fixed shape. It takes the shape of the container it is
poured in but it cannot be compressed. A liquid does not
have specific size or shape, and it only takes the shape
of the container in which it is placed.

Liquids are special because they flow and can
move around easily. They don’t stay in just one shape
like solids do. Instead, a liquid takes the shape of
whatever container it’s in. So if you pour water into a

cup, it looks like the shape of the cup. If you pour it into
a bowl, it takes the shape of the bowl!
Liquids have no fixed shape. If you fill a bottle
with liquid, the liquid will take the shape of the
bottle. Now,
if you
transfer the liquid from the bottle to a glass, the
liquid will change its shape into the shape of the
glass.

Liquids have definite volume.
Volume refers to the amount of space
that an object takes up. The amount
of space that a liquid occupies in a
bottle is the same even when you
pour that liquid into the glass.
Liquids flow from a high level to a
low level. Liquids are affected by gravity
and are heavier than gases. This makes them
flow from a high level to a lower level.
