ACTIVITY:
Description:
This is a 24-hour Formal Face to Face through an In-Service Training within the school
year 2020-2021 which aims to fully equip the teachers with the concepts on the interim
guidelines for assessment and grading in the light of the Basic Education Learning
Continuity Plan, review teachers with the fundamental concept of the Learning Delivery
Mode for teachers, evaluate the LDM 2 Portfolio, prepare individual plan for professional
development, prepare M and E and its means of verification.
Objectives:
The District-Based In-Service Training aimed in the teachers’ enhancement of KSA in
the new normal Learning Set up with the following objectives:

1. equip the teachers with the concepts on the interim guidelines for assessment and
grading in the light of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan, discuss the Interim
guidelines for Assessment and grading system
2. align assessment activities with the Most Essential Learning Competencies;
3. review teachers with the fundamental concept of the Learning Delivery Mode for
teachers, evaluate the LDM 2 Portfolio,
4. prepare individual plan for professional development,
5. prepare M and E and its means of verification
6. be able to manage stress.
7. and be able to communicate effectively to people in various situation.

December 15, 2020 (Day 1)

When the first COVID-19 case was recorded in March this year, the country was
placed under a state of national emergency. COVID-19 ushered in a new normal in the
way people conduct business and deal with each other. To prevent the further spread of
infection among the populace, various measures were put in place such a ban on mass
gatherings, restrictions on movement, social distancing, and preventive practices like
hand washing and wearing of masks, among others.

In the face of this continuing health threat, the Department of Education (DepEd)
formulated the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) to put into motion the
marching orders of the Secretary: ensure that learning continues while guaranteeing the
health, safety, and wellbeing of all learners, teachers, and other DepEd employees.

The LCP recognizes that DepEd must adopt alternative modes of delivering
learning if it is to reach all learners regardless of who and where they are. Where school-
based, Face-to-Face Learning is not possible, the LCP identifies three learning delivery
modalities (LDMs) that schools may implement: Distance Learning, Blended Learning,
and Homeschooling.

As the Department of Education pursues the learning continuity, it is imperative

for school to take stock of assessment and grading practices that would meaningfully
support learner development and respond to varied context at this time. (Deped Order
No. 31, s. 2020)

In response to the call of fully equipping the teachers with the concepts on the
interim guidelines for assessment and grading in the light of the Basic Education Learning
Continuity Plan, review teachers with the fundamental concept of the Learning Delivery
Mode for teachers, evaluate the LDM 2 Portfolio, prepare individual plan for professional
development, prepare M and E and its means of verification, this district shall be
conducting an In-Service Training on Teachers’ Enhancement in the New Normal
Learning Set up on December 15-17, 2020 at TJ’s Catering and Venues, Brgy. Buenos
Aires, Victoria, Northern Samar.

The District-Based In-Service Training started with an opening program. A

multimedia presentation was played for the Opening Prayer, National Anthem and
Division Hymn. Sir Dante Rufin, Head Teacher II of Buenasuerte Elementary School
welcomed the participants in her welcome remarks. Ma’am Nemia A. Manaog, Teacher III
acknowledged the participants by schools, while Sir Allen G. Buensalida, District
Information Officer and at the same time the Head Facilitator gave the rationale of the
training. Meanwhile, Mr. Ramon Tenorio, ES Principal I gave his message in behalf of
Ma’am Lenore P. Salor, District Head.

The leveling of Expectation was ushered by Sir Jerome T. Castillo, Teacher II and
signaled the start of the session proper. Ma’am Nemia A. Manaog, Teacher III discussed
the topic The Interim Guidelines for Assessment and Grading in light of BE LCP which is
the timely and important topic in this pandemic.

In the afternoon session, Mr. Jerome T. Castillo, Teacher II facilitated and

discussed the topic on Review on the LDM 2 and its Portfolio. The review of the 5
modules and the evaluation of the portfolio were done by the said speaker to ensure the
efficacy of the content of the LDM 2 portfolio. The last topic of the day was Monitoring
and Evaluation ushered by Ms. Cherrylyn Dente. Part of the application was to identify
mean of verification used for teacher’s M and E which can be utilized in the SMEA.

December 16, 2020 (Day 2)

The management of learning was facilitated by the Buenasuerte Elementary

School Teachers followed by the discussion of the IPCRF and its importance in crafting
the Individual plan for Professional Development. After which, was the discussion on the
how to craft the Individual plan for Professional Development using the result of the
NCBTS-TSNA, IPCRF and other reference. After the discussion was the crafting of the
IPPD of the participants for their school to be able to identify the training needs of the
teachers. In the afternoon session was the presentation and giving of additional inputs to
be placed in their IPPD.
December 17, 2020 ( Day 3)

The third day of the session paved way for the mental and linguistical factors of the
participants. The Ability to Manage Stress was delivered by Mrs. Nemia A. Manaog,
Teacher III, which teaches the participants healthier ways to cope up with stress, help
reduce its harmful effect and prevent stress from spiraling out control again in the future.

The last session, focused on the liguistical competence of the teachers through the
topic Effecitive Communication ushered by Sir Allen G. Buensalida, District Information
Officer.

The 3-day training was wrapped up with a closing ceremony. Ma’am Lota
Macabidang, TIC of Acedillo Elementary School delivered her opening remarks, followed
by the different learning impression by the participants. In behalf of the Disitrict Head,
Maam, Lenore P. Salor, Madam Chelo T. Tolcidas, Head Teacher III of MAxvilla National
High School gave her message challenging the participants to be their best in every
situation especially amidst this pandemic. After that, the distribution of certificate to the
participants. Mrs. Leonila Sabornido, Head Teacher III of San Lazaro Elementary School
delivered her closing remarks encouraging the participants to apply their learnings on
the said training in their respective school.

Achievement
of Objectives: The objectives were carried out thru the immeasurable effort and undying
cooperation of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the five school-participants.
Participants’ The teachers, students and parents were very responsive and participative in the
