Environmental Conservation
Objectives
At the end of the lesson, you will
be able to:
• define Environmental
Conservation;
• discuss some ways on how to
conserve our environment; and
• appreciate the importance of
our environment.
What is Environmental
Conservation?
It is the wise management
and utilization of natural
renewable resources in a
sustainable manner to
ensure the maintenance
of biodiversity.
Environmental Protection
Environmental protection is
a practice of protecting the
natural environment on
individual, organization
controlled on governmental
levels, for the benefit of
both the environment and
humans.
Factors Affecting
Environment
•Pollution
•Deforestation
•Soil erosion
•Over fishing
Pollution
• As we all know that smoke
from burning woods, from the
vehicle make surrounding air
polluted.
• Waste water from our kitchen,
waste liquid from the industry
contaminate the water
resources, effecting our
environment.
Deforestation
• Cutting wood from the forest
is the biggest threat to
environment
• Trees are cut to make new
roads, highways and other
building projects, which is a
disaster to nature.
Soil Erosion
• No plantation, giving rise to
soil erosion, as it is making
the land barren.
• This is really a harmful
situation for the environment,
also for the human being.
Over Fishing
• Fishes in the river or any
water bed use to eat different
species of insects and fossils,
making the water bed clean
for the environment.
• Lots of over fishing gives rise
to contaminated environment,
as Nature cycle get disturbed.
Environmental Action
Any action, suit, demand, demand letter,
claim, notice of non- compliance or
violation, notice of liability or potential
liability, investigation, proceeding,
consent order or consent agreement
relating in any way to any
Environmental Law, Environmental
Permit or Hazardous Materials or arising
from alleged injury or threat of injury to
health, safety or the environment,
including, without limitation.
a) by any governmental or
regulatory authority for
enforcement, cleanup, removal,
response, remedial or other
actions or damages and
b) by any governmental or
regulatory authority or any third
party for damages, contribution,
indemnification, cost recovery,
compensation or injunctive relief.
Environmental Action
Nowadays, disregarding
its benefits, people mostly
over using it and they cant
manage handling and
conserving the
environment which causes
environmental changes.
EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL
ISSUES
•Spreading of diseases
•Land pollution
•Poor crops
•Malnutrition
•Unhealthy smell
Environmental issues are harmful
effects of human activity on the
biophysical environment.
Environmental protection is a
practice of protecting the natural
environment on individual,
organizational or governmental
levels, for the benefit of both the
environment and humans.
Environmentalism, a social and
environmental movement, addresses
environmental issues through
advocacy, education and activism.
The carbon dioxide equivalent of
greenhouse gases (GHG) in the
atmosphere has already
exceeded 400 parts per million
(NOAA) (with total "long-term"
GHG exceeding 455 parts per
million)
The amount of greenhouse gas in
the atmosphere is already above
the threshold that can potentially
cause dangerous climate change.
We are already at risk of many
areas of pollution...It's not next year
or next decade, it's now."
The UN Office for the
Coordination of Humanitarian
Affairs (OCHA) has stated
"Climate change is not just a
distant future threat.
It is the main driver behind rising
humanitarian needs and we are
seeing its impact. The number of
people affected and the damages.
FURTHER, OCHA HAS STATED:
•Climate disasters are on the
rise. Around 70 percent of
disasters are now climate
related – up from around 50
percent from two decades
ago.
FURTHER, OCHA HAS STATED:
• These disasters take a heavier
human toll and come with a higher
price tag. In the last decade, 2.4
billion people were affected by
climate related disasters, compared
to 1.7 billion in the previous decade.
The cost of responding to disasters
has risen tenfold between 1992 and
2008.
• Destructive sudden heavy rains,
intense
Environment destruction caused
by humans is a global problem,
and this is a problem that is on
going every day. By year 2050,
the global human population is
expected to grow by 2 billion
people, thereby reaching a level
of 9.6 billion people (Living Blue
Planet 24).
The human effects on Earth can
be seen in many different ways.
A main one is the temperature
rise, and according to the report
”Our Changing Climate”, the
global warming that has been
going on for the past 50 years is
primarily due to human
activities (Walsh, et al. 20).

(Walsh, et al. 20). Since 1895, the
U.S. average temperature has
increased from 1.3 °F to 1.9 °F,
with most of the increase taken
place since around year 1970

Ways to
Conserve our
Environment
Turning Off Lights & other home
appliances when not in use.
Throwing Trash in the Trash
Cans according to the waste.
Switching to Non-Plastic
Water Bottles and Bags.
Driving Less, Cycling more.
Planting more Trees
And Finally…
the3R’s Reduce…Reuse
…Recycle
World Environment
Conservation day is
celebrated on July
28th every year.
Make the world a better
place by making yourself a
better person
