IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson
Teacher greets the class and briefly recalls numbers and counting using objects. Quick
warm-up: Count up to 10 using fingers and flashcards.

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson


The teacher introduces a “magic trick”: "Today we will learn how to see the hidden parts of
a number!" Shows a whole apple and slices it into parts.

C. Presenting examples / instances of the new lesson


Teacher introduces the Part-Whole Model using number bonds. Displays a diagram showing
5 as 2 and 3 using blocks. Explains whole and parts.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1 (Teacher to Pupil)


Each learner gets 6 counters. Task: “Group them into two sets. Tell me the parts and the
whole.”

Learners work in pairs using a number bond mat and real items. Partner A forms a number,
Partner B identifies parts.

Worksheet: Complete the number bonds.

Game: “Build-a-Number.”

Ask: What is a whole? What are parts? Can we make a whole using different parts?
