Soil Compressibility and Settlement Analysis

Chapter 4 discusses the compressibility of soil, focusing on various types of soil settlement including immediate, primary consolidation, and secondary consolidation. It details the causes of soil settlement, methods for measuring and analyzing settlement through one-dimensional consolidation tests, and the parameters involved in calculating final settlement. Additionally, it provides examples and assignments to illustrate the application of these concepts in real-world scenarios.
