Sub:- Pitiable condition of a PTGI working in GOVT. I.T.I. Dhenkanal, Odisha.
Respected Sir,
My name is Bhabani Sankar Swain, and I am currently employed as a Guest Instructor (GI) at the
Govt. ITI Dhenkanal. I want to convey a few words regarding some of our problems on behalf of all GIs
working in different ITIs, around 600 instructors all over Odisha. Though I have been working for 9 years, many
of my colleagues have been working for more than 10 years, depending on their cases. Sir, in the majority of
cases, we belong to very needy families to full fill the domestic needs of our elderly parents along with other
family members. They solely depend on our income.
Sir, during an academic year, we work as teaching faculties to cater basic training needs of our trainees,
assisting them to set their hands as well as minds those who have recently graduated from general
school/collage to coup themselves in a technical environment both theoretical and practical.
According to government regulations, our service is renewed every year and is evaluated under the
chairmanship of the local District Magistrate on a NO WORK NO PAY basis. Our service is liable to terminate at
any time at the mercy of local management, and we have no fixed salary for a month.
Though we are involved in all activities like sports, culture, attending nearly every exhibition,
visiting nearby local institutions, and students motivating trainees during admission through their last
institution by taking extra classes to prepare them as apprentices without extra payments, we have all been
humiliated by local authorities as per the terms and guidelines of our service conditions.
In the above context, I, on behalf of all my colleagues, pray for some favours from our government
so that we may be assessed for up gradation of services at least after a fixed period of working to live,
although on a contractual basis, but without any humiliation with self-respect in our society to save our face
value among the trainees. You may do something, sir, to change our service conditions, at least to live like
people working for a noble cause and teaching in a society without harassment.
Thanking you.
Regards, on behalf of all GI of ITI Odisha.
