Total Marks: 40
Time: 1 Hour 15 Minutes
Section A: Banking (20 Marks)
Q1. [2 Marks]
Mr. Sonu has a recurring deposit account and deposits ₹750 per month for 2
years. If he gets ₹19125 at the time of maturity, find the rate of interest.
Q2. [3 Marks]
Priya deposits ₹1,000 per month in a recurring deposit account for 2 years at
6% p.a. interest. Calculate:
a) Total deposit
b) Interest earned
c) Maturity value
Q3. [3 Marks]
A person deposited ₹1,500 per month for 18 months in a recurring deposit
scheme. If the bank paid 8% p.a. interest, calculate the maturity value.
Q4. [4 Marks]
The maturity value of a recurring deposit account is ₹19,720. If the monthly
installment is ₹800 and interest is paid at 7.5% p.a. for 1.5 years, calculate the
total interest earned.
Q5. [8 Marks] (4 + 4)
a) An amount of ₹1,200 is deposited every month in a bank for 2 years. If the
rate of interest is 9% p.a., find the maturity value.
b) Mohan has a recurring deposit account in a bank for
2 years at 6% p.a. simple interest. If he gets ₹1200 as
interest at the time of maturity, find : [3]
(i) the monthly instalment
(ii) the amount of maturity.
Section B: Linear Inequations (20 Marks)
Q6. [2 Marks]
Solve and graph the solution set on a number line:
3x - 7 < 11
Q7. [3 Marks]
Solve:
(2x - 5)/3 ≤ (x + 1)/2
State the solution set and represent it on the number line.
Q8. [3 Marks]
Solve:
2x + 1 > 7 and 3x - 5 < 16
Write the solution set in interval notation.
Q9. [4 Marks]
A student scores between 70 and 90 marks in a test. If the score is represented
by x, write the range as a linear inequality and graph it on a number line.
Q10. [8 Marks] (4 + 4)
a) Solve:
(4x - 3)/2 < 5x + 1 ≤ 3x + 9
Give the solution set and illustrate it on a number line.
b) A motorboat travels 30 km upstream and 28 km downstream in 7 hours. It
travels 21 km upstream and 24 km downstream in 5 hours. Find the speed of
the boat in still water and the speed of the stream.
