READING
Once upon a time, near a peaceful seaside village, there was a
magical place where the ocean met the land. Here, on his twelfth
birthday, young Toby found himself in an adventure he never
expected. As a gift, his grandmother gave him a beautiful, shiny
shell. She whispered that it was not an ordinary shell, but one that
held secrets of the sea.
Early that morning, Toby put on his favorite red jacket and
decided to explore the beach. He loved walking along the sand,
watching the seals play by the rocks, their silky coats shining in
the sunlight. It was a perfect day filled with laughter, but Toby
longed for something different, something more exciting on his
special day.
Suddenly, out of the blue, the wind picked up, and he heard a
gentle voice coming from the shell. “Smile on the count of three,”
it said. Intrigued, Toby followed the instructions. On the count of
three, the shell started glowing, then everything changed.
Around him, the sea turned a brilliant color, and not far away, creatures began to appear. They weren’t
just any sea animals; they were mythical beings from legendary tales. A dolphin with a shimmering
silver tail leaped near him, and a giant turtle, with an age-old wisdom, approached.
Toby was amazed. As the chosen one for this special adventure, he found himself in charge of a grand
task. The dolphin gestured to a small island nearby. “We have a party to prepare,” it said. “But first, you
need to help us collect a rare treasure—a drop in the ocean.”
Eager to help, Toby followed the dolphin. As they swiftly made their way toward the island, he noticed
a tiny flicker beneath the waves. “That’s it!” exclaimed the dolphin. With courage, Toby reached down
and grabbed the treasure. It was a magical pearl that turned into a rainbow when touched.
Back on the island, the mythical beings gathered for a birthday celebration unlike any other. And as the
sun began to set, Toby stood proudly before them. With the pearl placed atop a cake crafted from

seaweed and coral, everyone gathered around to blow off the candle.
The evening was filled with joy and wonder as Toby realized that birthdays like this were as unique as
“a drop in the ocean.” Even though the adventure was unexpected, he knew he would keep doing
things like this as long as he held the magic of the shell close to his heart.
