Job Profile: R&D Engineer

Location: Gurgaon, India

OctoLife is a start-up founded by serial entrepreneurs with a mission to build the world’s most efficient
and sustainable cooling products. In a rapidly warming world, OctoLife is on a mission to democratise
access to cooling solutions to 5 billion residents of the developing world. This is one the biggest
challenges facing humanity, and core to OctoLife’s existence.
Headquartered in Bangalore, the R&D and product development of OctoLife is based out of Gurgaon.

Responsibilities:

We are hiring full-stack engineers, who can do conceptual thinking, modeling, build and tinker, test
and improve, to build the tech and take it to final product shape.

⚫ R&D operations including engineering design, prototyping and testing of new air conditioning
product(s).
⚫ Design management - Create and maintain design and engineering documentation
⚫ Design review, Design verification, validation and establishing reliability test protocol
⚫ Product and prototype testing and experimentation
⚫ Design for manufacturing, design for service and design for testing
⚫ New component design / selection and overseeing the production part approval
⚫ Manufacturing and Vendor Management
⚫ Establishing production engineering process and quality control
⚫ Field failure analysis and resolution
⚫ Product benchmarking, market study for competitor products
⚫ Lab management

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering must. Masters/ Ph.D. is a plus

Technical skills:
• 0-6 years of experience in refrigeration / air conditioning industry
• Candidate must have good grasp of basic engineering science and thermodynamics.
• Working knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning systems
• Good knowledge of design principles and best practices in air-conditioning industry
• Hands-on, proactive, with demonstrated experience of designing and prototyping products

Other Required Skills:


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with
technical as well as non-technical audience.
• Good organisational skills and a willingness to shoulder responsibility and grow professionally.
• Ability to work and manage a team as well as handle projects independently.
• Should be open and excited about tackling problems outside of the job description.
