Pilot study

Pilot study is a trial study.


 Conducted in small scale before the main
study.
Inorder to evaluate feasiblility, duration and
cost/budget.
It is also known as feasibility study.
Definition:A Pilot study is a trial study or rehearsal
study done before conducting an actual study
in small scale manner.
Things to keep in mind while doing a pilot study;

Sample size of a pilot study should be 10 % of


actual study.
Never include sample collected for pilot study in
main study.
Representing or reporting pilot study

Report the data as feasiblility report.


Positive findings are to be reported but
shouldn’t claim as evidence.
Clearly report even small problems that could
occur.
Report possible improvement and suggestions
for the full scale Project.
