Hypothesis testing is crucial in validating consumer behavior studies as it provides a rigorous method to either support or refute assumptions about factors influencing behavior. In this research, hypotheses testing confirmed that multi-modal features increase continued use intention, and specific activities enhance this intention, thereby reinforcing the theoretical framework that device capabilities and functionalities drive consumer engagement .
A Two Independent Samples Means t-Test was used to examine the difference in consumer continued use intention between single-modal and multi-modal voice assistants. The results showed a significant difference with consumers more likely to use multi-modal devices (Mean=4.15) compared to single-modal devices (Mean=3.64), supporting hypothesis H1a. However, no significant difference was found regarding streaming music, leading to the rejection of H1b .
The model in the regression analysis explained 21.7% of the variance in consumer continued use intention, indicated by an R2 value of 0.217. This implies that while the independent variables included in the model have a significant effect, 78.3% of the variance is due to other factors not accounted for in the model .
The study suggests three recommendations for designing marketing campaigns: firstly, emphasizing multi-modal features of voice assistants to enhance user engagement; secondly, leveraging activities such as music streaming and information searches, which significantly contribute to continued use intention; and thirdly, re-evaluating the emphasis on factors like online shopping, which showed no significant effect on user intent .
The findings reveal that online shopping frequency does not significantly influence continued use intention for voice assistants, suggesting marketers should not primarily focus on this feature to drive engagement. Instead, they should invest in enhancing other functionalities, like music streaming and information search, which have shown a significant positive impact on continued usage intention .
Based on the regression analysis, hypotheses H2a, H2b, and H2d were accepted, as the higher frequency of streaming music, information search, and home/productivity management positively influenced consumer’s continued use intention. Conversely, hypothesis H2c was rejected because online shopping frequency did not significantly influence the dependent variable, with a beta value of 0.028 and p = 0.72 .
The use of a Two Independent Samples Means t-Test allows for the comparison of means between two independent groups – in this case, users of single-modal and multi-modal voice assistants. The test concluded that multi-modal devices have a significantly higher continued use intention among consumers compared to single-modal devices (significant at p < 0.01).
Integrating GenAI tools into academic research supports responsible and ethical guidelines by enhancing research quality and enabling efficient data analysis. Benefits include innovation in learning methodologies, while challenges include ensuring transparency and correct attribution to prevent academic dishonesty. Therefore, institutions must guide their ethical use, align with transparency policies, and train students effectively .
The statistical significance in the findings for RQ1 sheds light on consumer behavior, indicating a clear preference for multi-modal voice assistants in terms of continued use. This suggests that multi-modal features might cater better to consumer needs. Future research should delve deeper into understanding which aspects of multi-modal interactions are most valued by consumers and how these influence long-term usage patterns .
The regression analysis revealed that a higher frequency of streaming music (beta=0.240, p < 0.01), information search (beta=0.254, p < 0.01), and home/productivity management (beta=0.177, p < 0.05) positively influenced consumers' continued use intention. However, the activity of online shopping (beta=0.028, p = 0.72) did not significantly influence continued use intention, leading to the rejection of hypothesis H2c .
