Globalization
Introduction: We can start our essay on Globalization with either a poem or anecdote (short
story).

A world of nations, connected by trade,

A network of people, from every shade,
Globalization, a force that brings us together,
To create a world, that’s bound forever.
Or
The term globalisation refers to the integration of the economy of the nation with the world economy.
To justify this line, recently APEDA in association with the Bihar Fruit & Vegetable Development
Corporation has sent a shipment of Langara aam and Shahi Litchi to Mauritius, New Zealand, Bahrain
and Qatar. Last year, the APEDA had sent shipments of GI-tagged Zardalu Mangoes of Bhagalpur and
Shahi Litchi to several European and Gulf countries. Thus in this way we can say that Bihar economy
got integrated with the world economy due to globalization.
Or
Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, organizations, and
governments of different nations. Due to this interaction recently Japanese government have sent an
official request to the Railway Ministry to send a team of such artists which can paint Madhubani
paintings on Japanese railways after being mesmerized by seeing the beauty of India’s Mithila based
Madhubani paintings on Indian railways.

Positive Impact of Globalization

Economic: FDI increased from $97 million (in 1990-91) to $49 billion in 2022, India received highest
remittances in the world ($111 billion) in 2022.
Technological Innovation: Chandrayaan-3, COVID vaccine (Covishield)
Cultural Exchange: Chhath Puja in Mauritius
Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Namaste France recently launched in France
Tourism and Travel: Foreign tourist arrival during the Kalchakra Puja in Bodhgaya.
Changing Consumer Preferences: More preference for fast food of McDonalds and KFC.
Migration and Diaspora: As per UN report India has the largest diaspora population in the world with
18 million people

Negative Impact of Globalization

Increased trade deficit: huge trade deficit with China.
Newer forms of colonialism are called neocolonialism under the garb of globalization.
Replacement of traditional service providers: For example, old restaurants, parathas, and lassi are
replaced by Chinese restaurants.
Increased inequality: Oxfam's Report- richest 1% in India own more than 40% of the country's total
wealth.
Job loss: Several industries, including the production of batteries, plastic toys, tyres, and MSMEs,
were closed down, resulting in job losses.
Certain MSMEs were completely eliminated as a result of global competition. Toys are a classic
example.
Small and marginal farmers have been negatively impacted, leading to an increase in cotton farmer
suicides in the Deccan region of the country.

Performance Index (EPI) 2022.

Conclusion:
So let us embrace, the power of trade,
And the opportunities, that globalization has made,
To create a world, that is truly great,
And to help us, create a brighter fate.
