WORKSHOP PROJECT
Throughout time, humans have used bridges to cross from one shore to another in a
certain place. But there were times when it was necessary to retract the bridge, both to
isolate and protect the fortresses and so that ships could pass underneath.
We are going to carry out the second project of this school year. It consists of a
drawbridge made of different types of wood (strips, chipboard, plywood...) and other
materials. The joints will be made by screws or hinges.
PROPOSAL:
Design and build a DRAWBRIDGE
CONDITIONS:
- The raising and lowering of the board of the bridge will be smooth.
- Its operation will be manual at first and electric later by means of a 4.5V motor.
- It will contain transmission and transformation and of motion mechanisms.
Pulleys with belt Winch and crank
- The maximum dimensions of the set shall not exceed 300x200x150 mm.
- The design will be free and its appearance such as colour, aesthetics,
construction finish, in addition to its operation and original actions, will be
assessed.
- Preferably recycled or reused materials should be used, with the aim of achieving
a budget close to zero.
EXPANSION
It will have indicator lights of the status of the bridge deck. You can use a red light when
the bridge is going up and a green light when the bridge is going down.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
First, each member of the group must make a drawing of their individual idea. Then,
they will share it with the rest of the group to decide what to do.
Any construction that is chosen must first go through the design phases and have the
teacher's approval.
Once designed, it will be built by all the members of the group; for this, the tasks to be
carried out will be distributed.
ASSESSMENT:
The teacher will assess:
- The structure and the complexity of the drawbridge.
- The use of recyclable materials (cardboard, paper, wood, plastic, etc.)
- Its appearance (colour, aesthetics, construction finish).
- Its proper functioning.
- It must meet the established conditions.
In addition, the project score will be calculated as follows:
- Group project score: 50%
- Individual work score: 50%
DEADLINE:
The project and the report of the project must be handed over the first week of April.
For the elaboration of the final report, a script will be given to each group with all the
points that must be developed. This final report should be prepared in a single Word in
which ALL members of the group will participate.
