CHAPTER III
THE RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY
This chapter highlights on the Research Design, Research Environment, Samples and Sampling,
Research Instrument and the Data Gathering Procedure.
Research Design
This study will be applying the qualitative approach particularly the Phenomenology research
design. According to Creswell (2007), a phenomenological study describes the meaning for
several individuals of their lived experiences of a concept or a phenomenon.
Research Locale
The students-researcher conducted the study in Cordon National High School, Cordon Isabela.
Specifically, in the Senior High Department of CNHS during second semester in the year of
2023-2024.
Research Instruments
This study will utilize the Open-ended Questionnaire in the data gathering as a basis in finishing
this study. The questionnaire includes includes the following
a. Profile of the respondents
b. Questions used to know about the effects of technological gadget on the academic
performances of the selected Grade-11 students of Cordon National High School.
Sampling Method
Due to the availability of students and time constraints convenience sampling was used to select
respondents. The Grade 11 senior high department of Cordon National High School has two
strands and four section of Humanities and Social Sciences and two section of Science,
Technology Engineering and Mathematics each with a total of students. The researchers
conducted face-to-face surveys using a questionnaire crafted by them.
Data Collection Procedure
The students Researchers sought permission from the School Head of Cordon National High
School to conduct the study. They collaborated with relevant individuals to assist in obtaining,
distributing, and collecting the questionnaires. The questionnaires will be administer to the
students on a designated date. Data will be collected from the students of Cordon National High
School
Ethical Protocol of the Study
This research will consider the moral standards set by generic research ethics. The respondents
will be informed about all the steps which will be taken during the research. The confidentiality
of the participants will be protected. Participation within the study is completely voluntary. No
benefits to be given to the students for their participation.
