In my country , pupils are taught to read their own language, Spanish, through a
structured approach that combines phonetic awareness, comprehension skills, and
contextual learning. The educational system typically emphasizes the following
methods:

Phonics and Phonemic Awareness: Early literacy programs focus on teaching the
sounds of letters and letter combinations, helping students to decode words.

Whole Language Approach: This method encourages reading through exposure to

whole texts, fostering comprehension and enjoyment of literature.

Literature and Storytelling: Teachers often use stories, poems, and other literary
forms to engage students, promoting vocabulary development and comprehension
skills.

Contextual Learning: Lessons are often tied to students' real-life experiences,

making reading relevant and meaningful.

Reading Aloud and Shared Reading: Teachers read aloud to students, modeling
fluent reading and developing listening skills. Shared reading activities encourage
participation and build confidence.

Use of Visual Aids: Illustrations and multimedia resources are commonly used to
support understanding and engagement.

Assessment and Differentiation: Teachers assess students' reading abilities to

provide tailored support, ensuring that all learners progress at their own pace.
