PV Module Mounting Instalation
• Trina Solar has tested its modules with a number of clamps from different manufacturers and recommends the
use of clamps which have an EPDM or similar insulating washer, fixing bolt of at least M6.
• Applied torquing shall refer to manual of product being used, all torqued parts shall be tightened with torque
wrench and checked for correct torque value based on solar panel and mouting manual book.
• Please Refer to drawing ME-001 Module Mounting Structure; Layout Plan and Inst Detail
• According to the technical drawing, put L Feetand put waterproof epdm rubber on the roof sheet and fasten it,
as shown in the picture.
Waterproof rubber
L feet Instalation
• Fix the L Feet onto the roof sheet with self-tapping screw, as shown in the picture for torque value,
comprehensively consider both purlin and roof sheet.
• Install DC Nut on DCH50 Rail following Install DC H50 Rail on L Feet Kit by fastening the T-bolt tightly
Recommended torque value 6-8Nm.
Rail
L feet
Rail to L-feet Instalation
• Connect DC H50 Rail with Splice for DC H50 Rail through Hexagon Socket Head Bolt M8x12 on both sides, as
shown in the picture Recommended torque value 6-8N.m.
Splice Rail Instalation
• Install DC H50 Rail according to previous steps, as shown in the picture.
Rail Instalation
• Put solar panels on the rail and fix it by Inter Clamp Kit and End Clamp Kit Please refer to technical drawing for
the specific size and position of the installation.
Solar Panel Mounting Instalation
• Install all solar panels following above steps, ensure that all bolts are fastened tightly.
Solar Panel Instalation
• The clamp must overlap the module frame by at least 7mm (0.28in) but no more than 10mm (0.39in).
• Use at minimum 4 clamps to fix modules on the mounting rails.
• Modules clamps should not come into contact with the front glass and must not deform the frame.
• Be sure to avoid shadowing effects from the module clamps.
• The module frame is not to be modified under any circumstances.
• When choosing this type of clamp-mounting method, use at least four clamps on each module, two clamps
should be attached on each long sides of the module (for portrait orientation) or each short sides of the module
(for landscape orientation). Depending on local wind and snow loads, additional clamps may be required to ensure
that modules can bear the load.
• Applied torque should refer to mechanical design standard according to the bolt customer is using, ex:
• M6 ---- 9 N.m ([Link])
• M8 ---- 16-20N.m ([Link])
PV module installed with clamp fitting method
• Install the Grounding clip for the solar panel as followed drawing
PV Grounding Instalation
PV Module Connection
• All wiring should be performed, by qualified installers, in accordance with the local codes and regulations.
• Modules can be connected in series to increase the operating voltage by plugging the positive plug of one module
into the negative socket of the next. Before connecting modules always ensure that the contacts are corrosion
free, clean and dry.
• Product can be irreparably damaged if an array string is connected in reverse polarity to another. Always verify
the voltage and polarity of each individual string before making a parallel connection. If you measure a reversed
polarity or a difference of more than 10V between strings then check the string configuration before making the
connection.
• Trina Solar modules are provided with stranded copper cables with a cross sectional area of 4mm²(0.006in²)
which are rated for 1000V DC, 90°C and are UV resistant.( For TSM-PE05A.**, PE14A.**, 1500 V DC, 90°C and
are UV resistant) All other cables used to connect the DC system should have a similar (or better) specification.
Trina Solar recommend that all cables are run in appropriate conduits and sited away from areas prone to water
collection.
• The minimum and maximum outer diameters of the cable are 5 to 7mm (0.038 to 0.076in2).
• For field connections, use at least 4mm2 copper wires insulated for a minimum of 90°C and sunlight resistance
with insulation designated as PV Wire.
• The minimum bending radius cables should be 43mm (1.69in).
Correct routing of cable
Incorrect routing of cable
PV module Cable Connection
• Use TS4 Cable Connector spaner to tighten the solar cable
TS4 Cable Connector
TS4 Connector Instalation Manual
For TS4 connector instalation manual please follow the manual book of TS4 Connector instalation manual
1. Strip the insulating layer of cable. L=6±0.5mm. Be attention and not to cut off the individual strands.
Cable Striping
2. Place the metal terminal in the hole of the riveting tool. The riveting hole is facing out. The most outer edge of
the metal terminal is flat with the riveting interface. Insert stripped cable into the rivet hole of the metal terminal,
and make sure all the individual strands are in the hole. Ensure the coaxially of metal parts and cables. Finally,
press the riveting tool handle and press it to the end to complete the riveting. The cable tension after riveting is
referenced to the following table. All individual strands should be bandaged.
Riveting tools
3. Insert the crimped-on contact into the insulator until they engage. Pull gently on the lead to check that the metal
part is correctly engaged. Make sure the negative pin and the negative body are coaxial.
4. Tightening the connectors
5. Connecting cable connectors plug the coupling together until they engage. And pull lightly to check correct
engagement, insertion force ≤80N.
