Maya’s POV

“Woow, amusement park! This is crazy! Thank you, Di!” Natalie screamed,
destroying my eardrums as she practically burst through the gate,
welcoming us to that mesmerizing place. Yes, we were at an amusement
park after what felt like an eternity of an awkward lunch with Damian. God, I
somehow managed to survive that “lunch legacy” with him.

I moved further inside. It was almost five o'clock in the evening, and the
weather was wonderfully cool. I smoothed down my skirt and adjusted my
handbag as I looked around at the huge rides. I couldn't help but notice the
long, muscular men surrounding the park, as if we were truly expecting a
gunfight encounter here. Damian and his security detail really made things
awkward. The sky was a soft pink, and as I gazed at it, my mind drifted back
to my school days with him… “Jammie, I miss you, Jammie,” I whispered,
almost to myself.

“Do you miss me?” His voice startled me, sending shivers through my body. I
spun around to face my nightmare. His face was cold, stern, and devoid of
any expression. He had already embarrassed me this morning; what else did
he want to comment on now?

“Hmm? Excuse me?” I said, as he tucked his hands into his pockets and
moved closer.

“I thought you missed me, as I’ve been away for a whole month.”

My expression turned annoyed. “Really? Do you honestly think I’d ever miss
a beast like you? Never in my life!” I spat out with newfound courage. His
facial expression hardened into anger.

“Oh, yes, why would you miss someone when you’re busy digging out some
penny for her pathetic life?” His words truly stung. I turned around, trying to
find Natalie, to make sure she and Sarah weren't listening to us. He grabbed
my wrist and spun me back around, looking through me as if he were reading
an open book.

“Hmm? What happened? Reality came out, yeah? Don’t worry, girl, they’re
not around to find out your dirty secret… Come on, I know your sister and
your best friend don’t know your true intentions. Right? Don’t worry, you’re
safe,” he said with a smirk. I managed to loosen my wrist from his grip,
which felt like a hot lava burn.
“I don’t know who told you or how you assumed that I married you for your
money, but yeah, that’s not true! And I don’t care what you think about me,
so I’m saying, go to hell, you bastard!” I swore, the word feeling raw on my
tongue, “Because your words are really hurting me, and being with you is
nothing but a nightmare!” I screamed, my voice cracking, as his face
contorted with anger, his eyes dark as if he was about to rip my body apart
for the truth I had just spoken.

“Then why did you just married—” His words got stuck halfway as I heard
Sarah’s voice behind me.

“Maya, you… Oh, lovebirds! What are you both doing in this corner, hmm?”
she said with a teasing smile. I quickly covered my face with my hands to
hide the teardrops and managed to wipe them away.

“Oh, hmm, Sarah,” I stammered, unsure what to tell her.

“I was telling Maya that wearing a skirt is a bad idea for the rides,” Damian
said smoothly, giving Sarah a charming smile. “I’ll go with Bella,” he added,
and then moved off to find Bella.

I turned to face Sarah. “Actually, we were just, umm, umm… casual talk,” I
stammered, trying to sound nonchalant.

“Oh, come on, Maya, I know your casual talk!” she said with a smirk and
pulled me towards the rides. After a few rides with Natalie and Sarah—and,
of course, with Bella’s company along with us—I really had fun.

“Thank you, Isabella, for inviting us,” Sarah said as we all watched Natalie
and Damian excitedly moving towards a new kid’s ride. Damian… he was
different. I didn’t know if he truly had mood swings, but he was a different
person with others, though basically a bad luck charm for me.

“Sarah, no need to thank me. It’s what we all want, at least a little happiness
with all of us together,” Bella said, eating her candy floss.

“This is amazing! I love it! I love us being like this!” I said with joy as I looked
at Natalie talking animatedly with Damian, waiting for her ride to come. She
looked genuinely happy.

“Thank you for the dinner, Damian,” Natalie said, expressing her gratitude.

“Yeah, Damian, the restaurant looks luxurious! Even the food was great. I
don’t want to be surprised by knowing that you own this restaurant,” Sarah
added playfully.
“No, actually,” Bella interrupted, “This is not our restaurant, but it is one of
his favorites.”

“Impressive choice, Damian,” Sarah complimented. “So, Di, you must be

visiting this place every day, right?” Her question startled me. What should I
say? I looked at him; he seemed as confused as I was.

“Yeah, Damian has taken Maya here for a few dates,” Bella chimed in, which
led to an awkward smile on my face as I glared at Bella.

“Anyways,” Sarah interjected, sensing the shift in atmosphere. “Romantic…

cuties!” Natalie added.

“I am very happy, Di, that finally you are with someone whom you love,” she
said with pure kindness. Bella scoffed at her words. I passed her the water
and looked over, only to encounter his shocked eyes gazing into mine.

“Are you okay, sis?” he said, looking at Bella with concern.

“I’m fine, brother,” Bella replied after gulping a few sips of water. The three
of us exchanged awkward expressions at Bella’s sudden scoffing, knowing
the underlying reason behind it.

During the ride back home, I grew truly concerned as I noticed Natalie being
so close and talkative with Damian. I guess she forgot my presence, that her
elder sister missed her more. But I really appreciated Damian’s hard work; he
was truly acting well, being very friendly with her.

Finally, we reached our mansion. “Okay, good night, guys, I can’t stand here
anymore. Bye!” Bella escaped into the hall in her sleepy voice.

“Good night, Damian!” Natalie’s soft voice calmed me as she gave Damian a
quick kiss on his cheek. Damian startled but smiled at her.

“Thank you for giving me one of my best days of my life, buddy!” Natalie
said.

“Most welcome, little princess,” he replied and moved upstairs.

“Bye, Di!” Natalie called out.

“Good night, Nat! Good night, Sarah!” I hugged them both.

“No good night kissie for me?” I pouted at Natalie. She kissed my cheek and
hugged me. “Good night!”
“Okay, guys, stop this drama, let’s sleep, fine?” Sarah said as she dragged
Natalie to their guest room. I sighed and moved upstairs, taking a right at
the end of the corridor, reaching my room.

After a quick shower, I relaxed. I moved to my closet to get some comfy

clothes.

“Why are you here, and where’s Damian?” Her voice sent chills through my
body as I turned around, only to find that I didn’t have enough excuses this
time. Sarah?
