a) Where wheel is in Cantilever portion beff = 1.2 a + b1
b) Where wheel is in Simply Supported portion beff = a a ( 1- a/Lo) + b1
Where,
a = Distance of CG of load from nearer support
b1 = Width of tyre across traffic direction + 2 x(Wearing Coat + Earth Cushion) = 0.940 m
In case of Simply Supported Condition, Lo = Effective Length = 3.300 m
b/Lo = 4.394
a = constant depending on b/Lo, b being width of slab
In this case, b/Lo is < 2, Hence, a (for continuous slab) = 2.600

Dispersion of loads through fills and wearing coat is considered at 45 degrees along and across the
traffic direction

span = 3.00 m
widening width = 14.50 m m
carriageway width = 13.5 m
