Queen's Pardon in Holy City After War
Queen's Pardon in Holy City After War
It had been several days since the previous civil war. The Holy city
where the final battle took place had sustained heavy damage, but
restoration work had already begun. In addition to clearing rubble and
bodies, joint funerals to mourn the dead were also being held in parallel.
White and gran were extremely busy with these duties, but Queen,
whose wounds seemed to have gradually healed, was patrolling the
Holy City with her subordinates. Seeing this, the residents called out to
Queen one after another.
"Queen-sama, thank you for all your hard work!"
"Queen-sama, please take this! We've got some fresh fruit in here."
"Queen-sama, thank you for the other day! Please, have this wine
tonight."
wherever she went she was always being called Queen-sama, Queen-
sama. In response to these, Queen simply replied with a short "Yes", but
her popularity skyrocketed. Although Queen was often seen as violent,
the way she mowed down the villains who threatened their lives one
after another showed her to be a saint who was relied upon and loved by
the people. If this person were an enemy, it would be no laughing matter,
but since she is an ally, she is nothing but a hero in the eyes of the
people.
Many of her rough subordinates also handed her alcohol and smoked
meat with words of gratitude, causing her fierce faces to twist in
embarrassment. Fuji, walking behind Queen, also smiles when she sees
the wine being handed to her.
"Thanks to you, I think we'll be able to drink some good wine tonight."
"Tch, you're slacking off."
"If you make your rounds every day, everyone's stomachs will be full just
from the treats you bring."
"Are you stupid? How can you do something so troublesome?"
Queen spat out a response to Fuji's teasing tone. The group was
greeted with loud cheers and envious looks, but when their feet finally
stopped moving. They were at the entrance to a dungeon in a corner of
the Holy City. The Queen waves her hand and gives a brief address to
her men.
"Everyone, disperse. Scatter."
Hearing those words, the Ruffians immediately disbanded their ranks
and disappeared in any direction they chose. The Queen's orders were
absolute and no questioning was permitted Whether it was water or fire,
if the Queen ordered them to jump in, they would not hesitate that is
what they have been trained to do.
Queen shook her chin, and the guards hurriedly opened the door to the
dungeon. At the bottom of the stairs, a shooty hallway and the smell of
fish oil filled the air.
"Tch... It always stinks here."
On this continent, the wealthy use light magic stones for illumination. Due to
their brightness and Odourlessness, they are essential commodity for nobles
and merchants but The poor depended almost exclusively on fish oil, which
was made by boiling and drying herring and sardines, then squeezing out the
oil using a press. The remaining residue was used as fertilizer, or fish fertilizer.
Fish oil is cheap, but when used for light, the fishy smell of fish fills the
surroundings and produces a lot of soot. The current situation was that the
poor had no choice but to endure it.
Queen walked down the corridor, which was full of fishy smells and soot. She
stopped, at a place where Satanist was sitting in a chair, reading a book while
relying on fish oil.
It was the walking that saved Queen from a difficult situation in the recent
battle.
"Hey Satanist. You're reading in a good mood? Are you writing about how to kill
God?"
“······ It's been a long time. Have you decided on the date of your execution?”
"Well, that's about it. Get out."
With that, the Queen forcefully pried open the cell door. Locks and keys were
apparently useless in front of her. Walking obediently followed Queen as she
walked ahead of him, and they climbed out of the dungeon and onto the
surface. Seeing the light for the first time in a long time, Walking shaded his
hands and squinted his eyes in dazzle.
Looking into the city, people and goods were busily coming and going, and
reconstruction work seemed to be progressing. New governance systems were
being announced one after another, and the people seemed confused, but
overall their faces were bright and not in a bad mood.
Whatever the new system, they probably think it's better than the nobles'
faction. In fact, White gave the large amount of water magic stones he received
from Tahara to the people of the sacred city for free.
Tahara would have seen it for himself. What kind of nature would the new
system be?
"... People are strong. No matter how many times they are trampled on, they
have the strength to stand up."
Such words come out of Walking's mouth naturally. His Satanism must have
been completely dead. At the same time, it was also an admission that he had
been weak in the past. As if not listening to what Walking had said, Queen
carelessly tossed the leather bag at his feet.
“In honor of Zero-sama, I have decided to grant you a holy pardon.”
“Holy pardon? What are you planning?”
The Saint has the special right to pardon criminals, which Queen once used to
free Fuji, and she says she will grant it to Walking as well.
"Don't make me say the same thing twice. For God's sake, -sama."
Queen said that and then turned away.
Walking picked up the leather bag suspiciously, but inside was a piece of paper
with a note of holy pardon and a pile of silver coins.
Although it was said to be out of respect for Zero, it was a generous measure.
Walking was a rational Satanist, but there was no doubt that he was a terrorist
who had once attempted to kill the Saint.
"What kind of twist is this? Could it be that you're trying to thank me for
helping you in the battle the other day?"
"I don't need your help, Tako(octopus). Well, you should be grateful to Zero-
sama."
Tho Inwardly, there must be some gratitude. Additionally, it may also be
because she is in such a good mood when she meet zero. Above all, she likes
people with guts.
Queen must have had a certain opinion of the man who had once used the
abyss to drive her to the depths of despair, and who had fearlessly confronted
Jack. There is no way that common sense exists for her, and everything
depends on whether she likes someone or not.
"I never thought I'd get forgiveness from the saint who tried to kill me, and
even receive pardon from her..."
"Take that money and disappear from sight. Then you can go and die as you
please."
With that, Queen turned her back and left. It was a very refreshing farewell,
very much like her. Walking watched her in silence for a while, then started
walking toward the castle gate.
Queen's confidant, Fuji, was standing there, as if he had foreseen this coming.
Walking muttered while looking at the paper proving his pardon
"Did you give that woman the advice?"
"Hah, so you think big sister is the kind of person who would listen to someone
else's opinion? You know better than anyone, don't you?"
For terrorists, the target of an assassination is also the number one subject of
investigation and observation. They must thoroughly research everything about
the target, from what they like and dislike, the routes they take, the foods they
prefer, and even their waking and sleeping times. Ironically, Walking was more
knowledgeable about saints than anyone else, including the Queen.
Fuji leaned against the castle gate, folded his arms, and spoke leisurely.
"So, where do you plan on going now, former Satanist?"
“… This is a life I've been given. I'm thinking of heading east.”
"Is this Lady Luna's territory?"
"I want to see how the man who calls himself the Demon Lord will rule."
Fuji says nothing, but just nods.
He must be curious about that too about the being known as the Demon Lord
and the fallen angel Lucifer and where he is trying to take this country?
"Take this. I want you to let me know regularly what's going on over there."
"This is......You want me to send you a letter?"
The backpack he gave contained a large amount of paper and a magic brush. It
also contained silver coins, likely for the money spent on the letters.
"I have already received silver coins from your master. I don't need this."
"Just take it. Life in a new place is going to cost more than you think it would."
Was this based on real life experience?
Fuji also went from being the leader of a group of bandits to joining the Saint's
guards. Satisfied with what he had to offer, Fuji headed towards the Holy
Castle.
Walking also bids farewell to his back.
"Please tell your master that you and that dragon man and she are a good
match for each other."
"Haha, big sister's face will turn bright red with embarrassment."
With that said, Fuji waves his hand and leaves the place. I glanced at the Holy
castle in the distance and took a step towards Rabi Village. It wasn't a fast walk,
but it was a strong one.
"I know you've taken care of King in many ways, but this time you've gone too
far."
The man called Barkas glared at Mama and answered in a chilling voice.
From Icaros's perspective, this was a major incident that occurred far to the
east.
"I heard that you put up a terrible fight with Jack in Euritheis. There's no way
that King would plan something so reckless on his own. It must have been your
doing, right?"
"Don't just assume. What would I gain from fighting with Jack?"
"Hey, you want to make everyone else say the same thing? You were aiming to
become the next governor, and plotted to weaken the power of Daedalus, who
was a thorn in your side. He and Jack are like brothers, after all. Jack's downfall
would directly weaken his power. If you have an explanation, this sword will
listen."
Barkas raised his great sword like a twig and tapped it with his hand. It was a
gesture that indicated he would chop off any joking reply.
"Hmmm, conspiracy theories are scary. I'm impressed that they were able to
link it all together so conveniently.”
"You can say whatever you want. Mama, how are you going to take
responsibility for this mess?"
"Responsibility? Don't make me laugh. Do you know who you're dealing with?"
The surrounding mercenaries trembled at the yakuza-like voice.
In the atmosphere that seemed to be on the brink of an explosive attack, the
surrounding mercenaries rose one by one and surrounded Barkas to calm him
down. Even for the mercenary group known as the strongest, the opponent
was too strong.
"Stop it, Barkas! There's nothing to gain from fighting with Mama in this city!"
"Calm down. King has returned safely... so let's be happy about that for now."
The members of Heaven’s Ward admonish Barkas as if they were trying to calm
a raging horse.
Of course, this story, As Mama said, this is a complete misunderstanding and a
conspiracy theory. The whole thing started when that silly Demon Lord called
himself King.
However, the Governor who rules the city of Icaros and the other leaders are
engaged in violent clashes beneath the surface, sometimes forming alliances
and then becoming enemies within a few days, and so the situation remains on
the brink of an explosive confrontation.
Barkas's words were not far from the point, and the residents of this city could
only believe that they were the truth.
Even in such a faraway place, the man's existence can be said to be similar to
air pollution or chemical smog, which creates great misunderstandings and
misconceptions.
With the help of an intermediary, Barkas, who had been glaring at Mama,
turned his gaze to King, who was standing behind her.
“I’ve only known you for a short time, but I think I understand your situation to
some extent. You’ve never revealed your identity to anyone, never taken off
your armour, and never spoke to me once. I wonder if you’ve been cursed with
a mute curse, or if you have suffered severe burns on your face…”
Barkas' tone was sincere. In fact, some of the mercenaries had lost limbs, and
some had been exposed to a monster's dissolving liquid. During his long career
as a mercenary, Barkas had seen more than enough of these things. That's why
he didn't say anything to King, but just watched. However, leaving the unit for a
long period of time without telling anyone was not something that could be
overlooked.
"King, just nod. You're not Mama's subordinate, you're one of us. Right? The
next time this female fox gives you an order, we'll protect you. So don't leave
the unit in silence."
A long silence spread across the place.
Everyone watches with bated breath, and all eyes are on King's helmet.
However, the helmet doesn't move up or down or side to side, and helmet was
taken off.
"Yeah, I got it!"
"Huh...!?"
"I've been watching you for a while, and you don't seem like a bad person~?"
Everyone is stunned, and Mama turns around, speechless. This isn't what we
had planned.
In the original plan, Mama was going to tell Heaven’s Ward about the situation
and cover up King's death for a while. King's death would force Heaven’s Ward
to lose a large amount of fighting power, which would lead to the loss of the
entire city of Icaros.
That's why Mama was so concerned about it, taking King with her and
performing in the streets. But Akane's carefree actions ruined it all.
"King! You're a girl!"
"You, you could talk!"
"So, so cute..."
"No way...King was such a delicate girl...”
Naturally, this was Heaven’s Ward reaction when they saw this. Listening to the
men's noise, Mama put her hand to her forehead and looked up at the ceiling.
She wondered how to explain this. Akane quickly took off her armour, put it
away in her spare bag, and changed back into her original uniform.
Now she looked exactly like a high school girl, and the men let out excited cries.
"Hello hello. I'm King, Akane-chan. Nice to meet you!"
"Woooooooo!"
Seeing Akane wink, the men shouted out in uncontrollable excitement. After a
long career as an idol, Akane must know how to make men fall.
The only one who didn't join in was Barkas. He stood next to Mama and,
looking at Akane in amazement, said,
"I didn't know you had such a good sense of humor. I'm surprised."
Barkas, who had been exuding intense anger at Mama until just now, must
have lost his nerve. Mama responded to this with a weak look.
"It would have been so much better if this had been a joke..."
"So where is the real King?"
"I'm sorry to inform you, but it seems he's been attacked by a demon. The
attacker is probably a high-ranking one."
"What do you mean?! King must have been in Euritheis!"
Mama carefully explains the situation so far. By chance, she picked up Akane,
she was present at King's final moments, and Akane received her belongings.
Finally, she takes out King's identification tag and hands it to Barkas.
"Is he really dead?”
"The other person was at fault, that's all I can say. The world is a cruel place..."
"He was one of the few comrades I could trust, It's a shame“
Barkas was filled with emotion and sat down weakly in his chair. Mama also
seemed exhausted and sat down in the chair opposite.
"A high-ranking demon, huh...Do you have any information about him?"
Over there, Akane was causing a commotion, but here, it was like a funeral.
"I don't really understand, but Akane seemed to know that demon... I'll tell
you, you're not thinking about revenge, are you? That child doesn't want that."
At those words, Barkas silently grabbed a bottle of alcohol from the table and
drank it all in one gulp.
Mommy watched him for a while, then turned to Akane and suddenly smiled.
"King, that boy, died with a smile on his face. That's pretty impressive for
someone from this city."
"Smiling, huh...? It's true, in this city, only a handful of people can die with a
smile."
Danger and death are constantly swirling around Icaros. This is especially true
for a mercenary group like Heaven’s Ward. Perhaps thinking about his own
end, which will surely come someday, Barkas looked up at the ceiling with a
faraway look.
"So, Mama, what kind of picture did you bring?"
"We'll keep the fact that he's dead hidden for the time being. Luckily, we have
the armour."
No one knows King's true identity except Mama, and no matter who is inside
the full-body armour no one will question him.
If we just let him walk around city, we can hide it for the time being.
"Without King, our fighting power is practically halved. How long do you intend
to hide it for?"
"Until we find a replacement."
"That's a very clever joke. Do you think it's easy to find a replacement for him?"
Barkas replied in despair, and Mama's face also distorted.
There was no way that a replacement could be found easily for a being that
was even called a "monster on the battlefield." Unlike here, where the funeral
was taking place, Akane was holding something called a "photo session," and
the atmosphere was filled with excitement.
"Everyone, if you take a photo with me right now it's only 3 silver coins. It's a
first-time offer!"
"What the heck is this?! A picture just appeared out of nowhere!"
"Does a magic item like this even exist?!"
"Get out of the way, King! I mean, I definitely want a picture with Akane!"
It was a real wild party.
Mama stood up exhausted and told Barkas quietly.
"Since things have come to this, I'll leave it to you to explain to the other
members. Do it well."
"Wait a minute... There's one explanation missing. Who is the King that
appeared in Euritheis and where is he from!?"
"I have no idea about that. At least, I'm not involved."
In fact, Mama has nothing to do with the matter. After hearing King's story,
Barkas had no choice but to admit that.
"It was a political coup using the name of a famous person. No one had more
hatred than Jack."
"Hmph, so using his name even after he's dead... I'm sure King would be happy
about that."
Barkas said sarcastically, grabbing a new bottle and opening it.
From his point of view, it was probably the best kind of farewell. For a rootless
mercenary, having one's name remain even after death is a kind of honour.
Moreover, if it means defeating someone as infamous as the Mad Dog Jack.
Mama stepped into the middle of the party and, without further ado, grabbed
Akane by the collar and started walking. It looks like she has caught a
wandering cat.
"Hey, I'm not a cat! I'm just as cute as a cat!"
"Leave your sleep talking behind. This is what naive girls are like..."
Mama left the bar muttering to herself, and the group that was left behind saw
the photos and let out excited cries.
"Hey! Look at this! It's so cute!"
"Your face is in the way... I'll cut this one off."
"I'll kill you!"
"Dammit! Because of Mummy, I couldn't take the photo!"
"Please, I'll pay you five silver coins! Give me that picture!"
Like a certain demon lord, Akane's mere existence leads to commotion, but to
Mama, who looks after her, she's nothing but a headache.
"Thanks to you, there's no need for any planning or anything. And first of all,
what is that strange magic tool?"
"That's weird, aren’t Camera common for idols these days."
As she said this, Akane winked slyly and took a photo with Mama and in an
instant, an extremely detailed picture appeared. Mama was amazed at the
formidable magical tool, but unlike the mercenaries, she was not excited. She
had a chill when she thought of what would happen if this was used for military
purposes. Any fortress city could be stripped bare from the inside in an instant.
“Are such things popular among the nobles of the Holy Light Kingdom?"
"Eh, this camera is a special item made by me. Besides, I'm the one who
creates trends, you know?"
"That's an absurd thing to say... I'm not even sure what to say..."
Mama let out a sigh of relief when she heard it was a special item. If there were
so many of these, there would be no military secrets or anything.
"Mama has such old-fashioned ideas. People like me are what they call
influencers, you know?"
"You're right, you're like the flu."
"Influencer! I'm not a virus!"
The people passing by in the city naturally made way for Akane and Mama, but
Akane suddenly stopped, as if she had noticed something.
"Hey, hey, Mama. Everyone's been looking at me for a while now. I guess it's
because I'm as cute as a cat."
"You're a bit odd. You stand out with or without your armour on, it's no
laughing matter."
Mama replied in a surprised tone, but it was true. Akane was an undeniably
beautiful girl, and everyone who passed by her turned their heads. Especially
with Mama standing next to her.
"Needless to say, you shouldn't go out alone. You could get kidnapped in
seconds."
"It's really painful... Idols are always perfect and the ultimate getters"
"What are you talking about... Is this what they call youth slang...?"
With that said, the two of them returned to Mama's mansion, but Akane was
not quiet. With that, the two of them returned to Mama's mansion, but Akane
was not quiet. Late at night, Akane set out for a nighttime stroll as easily as
breathing. Akane is normally called a spy or an agent, and it is difficult to
recognize her appearance. Her agility is far superior to that of her aides, and
she turns enemy into a corpse before they have time to recognize her
presence.
Akane jumped from roof to roof, pounding the whole picture of Icaros into her
head. It was almost like a walking disaster. Icaros, also known as the city of evil,
had many areas known as dark districts and prohibited zones, but to Akane, it
was no big deal. There was no place she couldn't get into, and no matter what
precautions were in place, they were powerless against Akane. After exploring
the city of Icaros, Akane sent out a "MESSAGE."
It was late at night, but in typical free-spirited Akane style, she didn't care.
《Ren, are you awake? It's a "MESSAGE" from your beloved Akane----☆》
《Akane. Please tell me why you've been ignoring my "MESSAGE" up until
now.》
《You're always so serious even though it's been a while since we last spoke...
I'm sorry, I'll apologize! 》
《You're always like that. Selfish and you don't even give me a proper
reason. 》
《I'll listen to your lecture later, but I want to tell you something first. 》
Ren calms down when she says to tell you something. She is assigned as a
secretary, so she can't miss even the most trivial information.
Akane is well aware of her serious nature and often uses this trick to get
around lectures.
《Right now, I think it's a ikagēmudatta . No, it’s called icaringu . 》
《I'm guessing it's the city of Icaros. Please report accurately》
《That's right, I'm in a city with that name, full of bad guys. Hey, hey, are you
worried? Concerned? 》
《If I were to worry about your actions, I would never have enough lives. 》
《Hey, you're not very enthusiastic. What would you do if I really was
kidnapped by some villain? 》
《I just pray for the other party's soul to rest in peace. 》
They are the perfect example of an odd couple. While Akane only engages in
meaningless chatter and off-topic conversations, Ren repeatedly corrects her
course and keeps things organized.
《Icaros and Heaven's ward. And King... 》
《Hehe, I'm going to go on a rampage without Hakuto knowing! And keep it a
secret from him, okay? 》
《No, Master has already read your actions》
《You're lying! No matter how you look at it, Ren is overthinking things》
《The man known as King who appeared in Euritheis is Master. 》
《You've got to be kidding me... Am I playing in Hakuto's hand again? 》
《That's true. However, this is one of those cases that could have been
prevented if we had kept in close contact. Now, please don't ignore contact
from now on…..》
《Oh, we've got a customer! I'll call you back in three years! 》
Perhaps sensing that a lecture was about to begin, Akane cuts off the call
unilaterally and jumps onto the roof of the Cathedral, the most eye-catching
building in Icaros. Despite the middle of the night, Icaros seems to be a city
that never sleeps, as the entire city is enveloped in a dazzling light.
"Oh my, Hakuto is as cunning as ever. How can I outwit him?"
Muttering something that wasn't even a complaint, Akane looked down. In
truth, the demon lord didn't know the first thing about King, so there was no
point in complaining about it.
"But still, this city is really full of thugs. If this is a church, what is God doing
there?"
As if in response to her complaint, a voice rang out from the darkness. When
Akane turned her gaze, she saw a large spear floating in mid-air.
"There is no being in this city that could be called a god. Even this building,
which is supposed to be a cathedral, does not have even a trace of holiness to
it."
"Oh my, that's a spear I've seen somewhere before. Can we talk?"
It was once owned by a great undead demon known as the Count Impaler. And
had a unique mechanism that it absorbs life force just by touching it, and if it is
pierced, it will instantly turn one into a mummy.
"Though my body was lost, it seems that my miasma still remained in this
spear."
"Hey, you said something about not dying, was that true?"
It was a truly strange exchange that took place on the roof of what was
supposed to be a cathedral. On the one hand, she was a close aide to the
Demon Lord, and on the other, he was the boss of the undead.
There was probably no sign of God in this city.
"My body, which has lived for an eternity, is destroyed, and before I knew it,
even my king was destroyed. Even in the long history of the Demon Realm, this
is a rare event. The young lady and her lord have changed history."
"Well, that was Hakuto's doing! It's not my fault. Most of the bad things that
happen in this world are Hakuto's fault."
It was an outrageous thing to say, but that man had caused so much chaos
across the entire continent that it was no surprise to hear such a thing. In one
sense, Akane's statement hit the mark.
As he listened to them, the miasma that could be called the remains of the
Impaler continued to speak.
"Thinking back, many years have passed - I too have grown tired of life, but I
have become somewhat interested in what history holds ahead. If possible, I
would like to see up close a new era where not even God can predict."
"Huh??! What nonsense you're saying and I don't really understand it."
“I see, I'd better tell the you straight out. I would like to have a few drops of
your blood for my poor body.”
"Yeah, sure."
"Of course, I'm not saying it's free. This... Huh?"
Impaler's request was outrageous to both mankind and Demon’s, but the
response was even worse. He probably didn't expect such an outrageous
request to be immediately agreed to. The Impaler exclaimed in confusion.
“I don't know how to say this, but I suggest you think about it for a while. No,
let me be clear. I will take hundreds of years before I am fully resurrected. In
the meantime, we are no threat to mankind or any living creature.”
To give power to something that would be harmless if left alone is a completely
incomprehensible idea. It's like blowing a huge amount of energy into a
typhoon that is on the verge of disappearing. The typhoon that gained this
power will surely bring great disaster to the continent again.
"I don't understand the difficult parts, but it seems interesting!"
Akane replied casually, grabbing the spear and placing her palm on the tip of
the spear.
The Impaler, who had first suggested it, but he was flustered by her attitude.
"Do you really understand what you're trying to do? If I were given the blood of
someone as strong as yours, I'd be resurrected!"
"I'm an idiot, sir, so when I'm in doubt, I choose the option that seems more
interesting. Just go without hesitation, you'll understand when you get there!
Da-da!"
“haaaa…..”
Akane yelled like a great warrior of the past, and without any hesitation,
stabbed the spear into her palm. More than a few drops of blood spilled out,
but the spear absorbed them, and in an instant, black miasma began to
condense.
The dark miasma changes into indescribable shapes again and again, until
eventually converges into one shape. It was as the very image of the Impaler
who had confronted Akane in the Demon Realm.
"What a powerful bloodline! Easily comparable to a thousand years of time.”
"We meet again, how are you? Wait, I thought you were dead just a while
ago?"
"It's just, Should I be grateful, or should I warn you for your recklessness?"
Impaler was left speechless by Akane's carefree attitude.
His existence is essentially like a natural disaster that living things cannot resist,
something that does more harm than good. And yet, Akane doesn't fear him in
the slightest, which her even worst.
In fact, her "good luck" would likely be enough to overcome any natural
disaster.
"So, it looks like you've been resurrected, but what do you want to do? Do you
want revenge on me?"
"Thank you for your kind offer, but I respectfully decline. Also, I'm not keen on
losing my body."
"Oh, that's boring."
Akane had narrowed her eyes like a shadow boxer, but as soon as she heard
Impaler‘s reply she lost all enthusiasm.
Seeing Akane's moody attitude, Impaler smiled. In truth, he had liked her ever
since he first saw her in the Demon Realm. there was something murky and
stagnant within her heart.
Impaler was once nothing more than a humble soldier, who was thoroughly
tortured as a weakling and endured a long and painful time. In that respect, he
probably feels some sympathy for Akane.
(Moreover, this young lady is just as unpredictable as the former king.)
For Impaler, who has lived for an eternity, someone who doesn't bore him is
extremely valuable. Looking at Akane, he makes the proposal he hadn't said
before.
"In exchange, I have one suggestion. Currently, I have lost the master I was
meant to serve. If possible, I would like to serve you, my lady."
"Huh, to me? Not Hakuto?"
"I only entrust my spear to those who don't bore me. Excuse me, but you look
just like the king I once served."
"What? Is that shiny gold thing actually a beautiful girl like me?!"
"Despite appearances, the inside is very similar."
The Impaler continued in his mind, including that cold-heartedness and cruelty.
Hearing this, Akane groaned as if facing an arithmetic test, but eventually she
gave up thinking.
"Well... you seem like something that could surprise Hakuto. Yeah, great! I'll
hire you as my manager!"
"Oh, if you mean management, then that is my specialty. Thank you very
much."
"However, you are not allowed to kill anyone without my orders. If you break
this rule, you will never be able to come back."
The warmness disappears from Akane's eyes, and her bone-chilling gaze
envelops the entire body of the Impaler.
It was as if his heart, which he had lost long ago, was being gripped by her grip.
(Good...! As expected, this girl is good! This is what I have been looking for all
these years!)
Perhaps the Impaler was bored with ordinary life, as his sensibilities were
extremely unique. Otherwise, he would never have wanted to serve Akane, of
all people.
"But you are too bone-rock for an idol manager. If you don't wear a cute cloths,
my fans will cry."
"Certainly, if I were to enter the city with this appearance, I would cause a
commotion. In that case, let's do this. I will use the appearance of a person I
will never forget."
"Unforgettable?"
As the Impaler spoke, a dark miasma began to overflow from his entire body,
and his appearance, which had been nothing but skin and bones, changed
dramatically. It was truly something that could be called incarnation.
Just like Akane's, wet black hair spilled out from his trademark top hat, and his
appearance transformed into something extremely extravagant.
In an instant, a picture-perfect young man was born. The Impaler was originally
clad in an extravagant outfit that would make even high-ranking nobles run for
their money, and he further covered his entire body from his shoulders down
with a jet-black cloak. On the day that this beautiful young man, exuding
extraordinary sensuality, were to stroll down the streets in such an eye-
catching outfit, he would surely captivate all the women of the world.
To top it off, his eyes were golden, and he had an aura that would captivate
anyone just by setting his sights on him.
"Wow! He went from bone-bone rock to a chill poet!"
"Haha! So even the former great hero, Rogenhil, has become a poet in your
eyes."
The Impaler took out a hand mirror and gazed at the man's appearance with
deep emotion. The face was that of a young man known as Rogenhil, the only
Holy Hero who had ever invaded the Demon Realm. The Impaler, who had lived
a life that seemed to float through eternity, must have encountered him
somewhere.
"Is there such a thing as a 'great hero' job!? I'm an idol, should I change
careers? Should I go to a place like the Dharma Temple?"
"I'm not familiar with such a temple, but you'd be better suited to being a
typhoon that blows around at random than a serious job like that, my lady."
"You call this beautiful idol a typhoon? You have no sense of aesthetics."
"Haha, I was originally a skeleton after all."
As Akane sulked, Impaler asked with a meaningful smile. To him, it was a very
important question.
"Miss, may I ask you what you need the most in life?"
"Eh? Well, of course it's thrill!"
The answer was given without hesitation, and the Impaler smiled with
satisfaction and bowed deeply.
He probably imagined days that were completely different from those he had
experienced before, full of change and excitement.
Mama and Barkas felt a growing sense of crisis about the weakening of
Heaven’s Ward fighting power after losing King.
However, due to an unexpected turn of events, an evil force that could wipe
out the entire human race came crashing in. This was the result of a wayward
typhoon bringing with the most unexpected of beings.
Animania : Forest of Apes
Banquets were held here every day, so it seemed like there was no morning or
night.
With gifts of congratulations arriving nonstop from each tribe, the ape-men
would drink in the morning, pass out, wake up at night, and continue the
banquet every day.
They had defeated Belphegor, a major threat to the beastmen, so this wild
party was inevitable, but it was a truly cheerful banquet befitting the ape-men.
He was now very popular with the other tribes as well, and was not just the
man of the time, but the monkey of the time. The ape-men lit several bonfires
that nearly scorched the night sky, and gathered in a circle around them, raising
toasties in great celebration.
"I'm so excited! I was the first one to reach the fort back then!"
"I ended up eating the fire stone eater in return! Now that's manliness!"
"The one-on-one fight between the boss and that monster was so intense! He
was so manly!"
The ape-men are simple-minded, the perfect example of a joker. They'd tell the
same story over and over again, only to forget it the next day and get excited
about it all over again.
They were just typical drunks, but no one was laughing at the ape-men now.
They'd received direct orders from the high priest and successfully taken the
head of their enemy.
All the tribes living in the Animania were in a celebratory mood, and you could
say the whole country was drunk.
Though surrounded by an abundance of fruit, meat, and alcohol, their leader,
Monkey Magic, looked somewhat gloomy as he lay on his pillow with his hands
on his head and stared at the huge bonfire that was scorching the night sky.
Seeing the leader like that, Xiaoshou Baldibald, calls out to him with a sake
bottle in his hand.
"It's a celebration, and it's creepy for you to be so quiet, my lord."
"I'm meditating right now."
"Honey, meditation isn't something you do lying down... Come on, let's have
some monkey sake and let's go wild!"
As he spoke, Xiaoshou brought the wine to his mouth and splashed it all over
the plate on his head. He drank in a very hasty manner.
"Kuuuu! The monkey wine is staining the dry plate and my suit... It's sooo
good!"
"You're going to go bald if you keep drinking like that."
“I told you this is a plate, not a bald spot!”
The two of them argue as usual, and Xiaoshou sits down, perhaps realizing that
it's silly to get angry. Despite the commotion around them, this place seemed
to have a gaping hole in it.
"So, why does your Husband look so gloomy?"
"I'm already bored with the parties."
"You get bored... As far as I remember, it was your Husband who was making
the most noise. He was getting pampered by all sorts of clans every day and
was feeling great."
"The important thing is, he’s not being pampered by nagi-san."
"Are you still talking like that in your sleep? That snake woman probably
doesn't even have a second thought for your Husband. No matter how much
spirit he put in, it's like farting in a bathtub."
"How dare you call the beautiful Nagi-san a fart!"
"It's my husband who's the fart after all..."
Although Nagi had looked upon Monkey Magic as nothing more than an insect,
she felt she had no choice but to send a congratulatory gift this time, and so
came to the Ape-Man Forest. She gave the fussing chief an icy look and said
only one thing: "That happy-go-lucky face, it seems your brain is rotting. "
It's not a matter of being pampered. If love is a kind of test, then this would be
like being turned away without even being allowed to take the test.
As if trying to put a lid on the bitter memories, the chief recalls a certain
person.
"What is that evil god doing.?"
"What do you mean? I can't relax if something like that is nearby."
"He's realized just how powerful I am... so he'll definitely call out to me next
time!"
"No, next time just sounds like trouble!"
"Hagemaru, what happened to our daily lives when that evil god appeared?"
"I told you I'm Xiaoshou, not Hagemaru!"
Even as he argued, memories of his tumultuous days with the evil god bubbled
back to Xiaoshou's mind.
Although they ran into some trouble at first, this was the catalyst for them to
receive a direct call from the high priest, and they decided to launch an
unprecedented assault on the Demon Realm.
They ravaged the territory of their sworn enemy, Belphegor, destroying all of
the slave markets and even defeating his subordinate armies one by one. It
wasn't just a happy or satisfying experience. It was also a moment when they
felt truly alive, with all their heart and soul. Before they knew it, they had even
taken Belphegor's head, and after their triumphant return, they had become
heroes that everyone envied. Wherever they went, they were praised and
dazzlingly looked upon. Their mundane days had changed drastically overnight.
There was no doubt that all of this was triggered by their encounter with the
being they called the Evil God.
"So this moment is all thanks to that evil god?"
"Even now, when I close my eyes, I remember the flowers that bloomed in the
night sky."
Without answering the question directly, the chief muttered to himself. No
doubt. Those wild, flash-like days were coming back to Xiaoshou's mind.
We all screamed, howled, and made noise like children all night long.
"I'll admit... it wasn't such a bad time..."
"I achieved some success, but these days I'm not satisfied with my daily life
anymore!"
The chief's simple, straightforward words left Xiaoshou speechless. His words,
his thoughts, made Xiaoshou realize that somewhere along the line, he too had
felt the same way.
Seeing the chief's gloomy expression, even though he was now celebrated as a
hero, made Xiaoshou want to dream again.
"Husband, it seems that the high priest and that evil god have made an
agreement."
"What's that agreement!?"
"I want you to see this ."
XiaoShou, ever the careful one, had since visited the high priest and found out
about the agreement she had made with the Demon Lord.
"In that case, I think it would be best if the large quantities of alcohol and food
needed for the daily banquets were gathered from the north. If it's too much
trouble, we can go and do it for you."
"You seem to be very friendly, but it seems like you have some other purpose
besides this transaction."
"Again, this is just my personal opinion, but I believe that in the near future,
within the Holy Light Kingdom, there will definitely be a wave of opposition to
advance north. When a nation that was once divided comes together as one, it
is a historical inevitability that this wave-like force will be directed towards
neighbouring nations."
Hearing Kid's words, a cold sweat ran down Arts back. It was as if he was
present in that meeting.
Tahara was in fact planning to rapidly expand the military forces of the
militarist faction and launch a war against the entire world.
Thinking back to the meeting the other day, Arts spoke thoughtfully.
"The argument for advancing north...Until just a while ago, it was a phrase that
had never even crossed my mind."
On the contrary, the powers within the Northern Nations were divided, and
they were bitterly hostile towards one another. As a merchant with a long
history of battles, Kid can probably see to some extent how things will develop.
"If we advance north, the core of the force will be the military faction. You may
be small fish now, but I believe that one day you will be a giant whale that will
swallow up large amounts of Land and wealth."
“You should learn to be more elegant with your words."
Arts replied in a surprised manner, but he was also surprised at Kid's honest
and forthright way of speaking. He was tired of social interactions where
people use clever phrases but ultimately have no idea what they are saying.
Hearing this, Kid replied lightly.
"I'm sure Arts-sama doesn't like these tedious superficial exchanges. Our
company wants to get in touch with you while you're still small fish, and then
get a piece of the wealth that the giant whales will bring in the future."
"Should I call it naivety, or ambitious.?"
Although Arts's mind is biased towards military matters, he was able to
correctly understand the strategy Kid had chosen. He probably judged that
Suneo had an advantage when it came to business with the wealthy, and saw
an opportunity to win in the arms and military supplies that they did not
handle.
(This guy is not to be underestimated either... he has abandoned the front line
and is trying to undermine another opportunity.)
It is not easy to completely abandon business with the wealthy, which is one of
his specialties. It is more like a decision made by a bold warrior than a
merchant. Perhaps recognizing the qualities of the man called Kid, Arts spoke
with determination.
"We have been ordered to expand our army to 100,000."
"Oh my, that's not a good thing, what 100,000 is!."
As he said this, Kid's mind went through various calculations. Even the Imperial
Kingdom, known as the leading military power on this continent, is said to have
a total military force of 200,000.
The newly born king is planning to prepare an army half that size right from the
start. It's hard to imagine how big that army would end up.
Naturally, the military supplies that the army needs will generate a endless
supply of money. Kid nodded with a smile, perhaps thinking about the exciting
days ahead.
"Our company will do all we can to support the new king and all of you in your
path to dominance."
"The path to dominance, the path to dominance... No, I just haven't noticed,
but I'm sure we are already in that stage."
Arts looks north from the top of the castle walls. Spreading out there is the vast
Northern Nations, and it looks like the next battlefield will be the whole world
itself.
黄金のパレード(Golden Parade)
A clear blue sky spreads out before us. Under the cloudless blue sky, a
countless crowd stands along the road, waiting in anticipation for something to
appear at any moment.
Not only that, but many food stalls are lined up along the road, as if a festival is
about to begin.
"I-It is! Music!"
"Really! It's the sound of instruments! I heard it too!"
The crowd falls silent for a moment, then gasps at the sound of footsteps
approaching from afar.
A rumour is currently circulating in the Holy Light Kingdom. From village to
village, town to town, in a world without television or the Internet, the rumour
is spreading like hot cakes.
By the time the parade ends, the people of Holy Light will have heard of the
Fallen Angel's second coming. And that the old ruler will have been defeated
and a new regime will begin to rule.
Amid the festival-like commotion, a red-haired boy standing next to the Demon
Lord called out timidly. He was the only boy among the nine-surviving people,
and the Demon Lord was also secretly concerned about him.
"Lucifer-sama, you're amazing. No noble has ever done something like this for
us."
"I don't need it," the Demon Lord replied, but it wasn't a lie.
The gold of this world is like any other foreign currency, they have no inherent
value: Dollars, cents, yuan, won, francs, pounds, baht, rubles, rupees... The list
goes on and on, but even when we see paper money or currency from a
country other than our own, we don't really understand its value, and it
doesn't really click with us.
"Every lord only took something from us"
"Such unjust lords will no longer exist in the future. Rather, I want to talk about
your names."
"Yes, please call me Ten!"
The red-haired boy put his hand on his chest and put on a proud look. Seeing
this, the Demon Lord instinctively wanted to cover his face. Not knowing what
he was thinking, the children started naming themselves numbers. One, two,
three, and so on.
Nine was a general term, and it seemed that they were calling themselves that,
thinking it was a special number. Perhaps the others had been eavesdropping
on their conversation, other children also started speaking to the Demon Lord
at once.
"We have overcome our past and been reborn!"
“We dedicate everything to Lucifer-sama."
"Ten, don't be the only one talking to Lucifer-sama!"
"That's right, Lucifer-sama belongs to everyone!"
"Shut up, you women!”
Seeing the children shouting and yelling, the Demon Lord sighed privately. They
would have probably heard about a special group called the NINE from Yu.
And they misinterpreted it in a very wrong way. It was ironic, as the children
who were once called by numbers now happily use numbers as their names.
What's more, the children mixed in with the crowd were also celebrating. They
gathered up the copper coins they had picked up and ran to the food stalls.
Anticipating demand, many food stalls and shops had been set up along the
road, selling baked sweets, toys, and other items.
Children are excited to try baked and fried sweets that they normally can't eat.
Drawn by this, adults also started buying and eating skewers and bread with
honey, and gradually parties started to be held here and there.
"Our shop is cheap! We also have roasted corn!"
"We sell cheap ale over here!"
"How about some apples, cherries, and nuts?"
Alcohol was selling like hotcakes at every food stall, and street performers,
dancers, and even fortune tellers appeared, turning the road into an
unexpected party. Looking at the commotion unfolding below, the Demon Lord
felt like crying.
(You guys, stop messing around with me! I'm the one who wants to drink
alcohol and drown my sorrows!)
However, being surrounded by such stares and with such a flashy ritual taking
place, there was no way for him to drink alcohol straight away, so he was truly
in a dead end. From then on, the parade continued day and night, but
sometimes the Demon Lord would use his skill Charge and fly away, looking
down on the crowd.
Of course, it was a performance that he came up with out of a desire to get out
of the parade as quickly as possible.
For the Demon Lord, it was nothing more than a worthless event, but it cannot
be overlooked that every time this parade passed through the country, smiles
returned to the faces of the people, and even the sense of stagnation that had
covered the country was lifted.
It was exactly what Tahara had intended, saying he wanted to hammer the fact
that the noble faction had been wiped out directly into people’s eyes and ears.
Of course, Tahara's strategy doesn't stop there. The money given out at the
parade was just a performance, but behind the scenes Tahara was pushing
ahead with one policy after another to win the hearts of the people.
First of all, there were the disaster relief and condolence payments based on
family registers. In the Holy Light Kingdom, family registers were strictly
controlled for the purpose of tax collection, and this was put into practice.
The Three Saints also announced a proclamation of a gift of money to celebrate
the unification of the country, as well as the free distribution of water magic
stones, but at first the people were skeptical and ignored them.
After being oppressed by countless nobles for two thousand years, it was only
natural for them to be skeptical. However, when the money actually reached
them, the people's expressions changed for the first time.
Maybe the new government will really do something. In addition to that, it was
announced that the Holy Church would cover the full cost of destroyed roads
and houses, and policies going forward were enacted in such a way that people
respected not only the Three Holy Maidens but also the Holy Church.
It was a move that was typical of Tahara, with no flaws, but of course, the
Demon Lord had nothing to do with it. He was simply riding free on the work of
his aides and getting a living. As the Demon Lord passed through various
places, he thought deeply about this.
(I never thought the day would come when people would be pleased with a
cosplay like this. I don't understand the meaning of angel worship)
After causing such a fuss, he finally came to the conclusion that he was
cosplaying. The defeated aristocrat’s faction would have been outraged if they
knew this.
Ignoring the carefree Demon Lord, the whole country was excited by the
parade that scattered gold, while behind the scenes, congratulatory money and
rubble were delivered to every household. It was perhaps only natural that the
skeptical populace would gradually change their minds.
By the time the parade reached the east, the people's enthusiasm reached its
peak, and huge crowds formed on every road, eager to get a glimpse of the
fallen angle.
"Lucifer-sama! Thank you for saving this country!"
"Angel-sama….Thank you...!"
"Look at the smiles on those children's faces! Lucifer-sama really is not a bad
person after all!"
"That's right! You can't rely on legends!"
Seeing such enthusiasm, Tahara also seemed to have something on his mind as
he sent out a heartfelt "MESSAGE."
In the previous World, his aides were sent to the "occupied zones" on
numerous occasions.
《In the past, no matter where we went, there was not a sound and every eye
was filled with hatred. 》
And that's to be expected. The great empire of the past used force to occupy
other countries, and then held cruel games to even crush their rebellious spirit.
Far from welcoming voices, everywhere we went we were met with cries of
resentment.
《Eh Chief when you told Yu that you wouldn't take the same path, was this
you envisioned? 》
(No, you did it all! I was just drinking and sleeping in my room!)
The Demon Lord cried out in distress in his heart, as in reality all he had done
was cosplay. It was unbearable to be praised as if he was walking the path to
greatness just for that. Wanting to get away from this conversation quickly,
Demon Lord quickly brought up another topic.
《Compared to the beginning, things seem to have gotten a lot better》
《The first step is the most important thing. I scattered them around in a big
way. 》
By this time, gold coins had arrived in the hands of the people in various forms,
both large and small, and a booming economy was beginning to take hold
throughout the Holy Light Kingdom. In truth, it would not have been possible
to get this far by simply scattering gold.
One of the reasons for the boom was that no one saved any of it. The people of
the Holy Light Kingdom were suspicious and cowardly. They thought that the
government might come up with some excuse to take it from them again. So
they had the mentality of spending it while they had it.
The bad government up until now has encouraged the people to spend with
abandon, so who knows what will come of this?
In bars across the country, toasting to celebrate the new era continues, and
many men are hired for the restoration work. Food is brought in one after
another to fill their stomachs, and all is consumed at once.
Merchants who deal in materials were in a complete bonus period. They were
screaming with joy as their supplies were instantly sold by the people they had
purchased from.
In the past, in the Holy Light Kingdom, even after the work was done, the
nobles would complain and withhold money, so the work could not be done to
the best of their ability, and the masters were forced to work with suspicion
and doubt.
This time, the Holy Church had announced that it would pay in full, so the
masters were able to order materials and gather manpower with peace of
mind. And that's not the only good news.
The new lords who came into power after the civil war were, people who had
won a gamble that had their lives on the line.
The socialite and artistic group led by Madam Sisters was based in the south,
where rich mines and vast cotton fields stretched, but the aristocrats who won
the bet were also promoted to the fertile center.
At the height of their happiness, they held lavish banquets to celebrate the
springtime of this world, and various dresses, jewels, flowers, and other items
were sold one after another, making a great deal of money for those involved.
Musicians, who are indispensable to a lavish banquet, gardeners who create
beautiful gardens, and popular clowns all run from venue to venue, with no
time to sleep.
When the Suneo Trading Company entered the market, it caused a commotion
like a hornet's nest.
The new lord who ruled over the fertile center was like winning first prize in the
lottery, and it was certain that this would continue every year. It was only
natural that they would let loose.
Looking at the results, the series of civil wars caused great damage to parts of
the Holy Light Kingdom, but it can also be said that the result, national
unification, more than made up for it.
“Director, it's about time we can see Rabi's village."
“Yes”
A large number of bunnies welcomed the Demon Lord as he appeared riding
on a white elephant, celebrating with great enthusiasm. The workers in the
village also let out a murmur of excitement for a double meaning.
With a fallen angel clad in jet-black wings sitting on the back of a towering
creature, it was surely enough to take the breath away of anyone who saw it.
Kyon and Momo also nodded once again upon seeing the Demon Lord. They
had long suspected that the Demon Lord might be the fallen angel Lucifer.
"Look, Momo-chan. That figure and those black wings..."
"I knew it, the black person was a fallen angel."
The village workers were also astonished at the sight of what they could only
assume was a fallen angel. They had seen the Demon Lord many times before,
so they could not hide their surprise at the change.
"I can't believe it; a fallen angel is in this world"
"What's going to happen to this village"
"Well, anyway. He's going to give us a job. It doesn't change anything.”
"Hey, aren't you getting a lot younger!?"
Among the various reactions, some were upset, and some were angry. Even the
clumsy hummers and the brat stared at the figure of the Demon Lord as they
blended in with the crowd.
"Ah, am I dreaming? And, in the legends, Lucifer-sama was a..."
"Even though you’re an adult, your are such a coward, how pitiful~♥ Pity♥
Pity❤ Less than an insect❤ Larva Ochi-san ❤❤❤”
Hammer was still being provoked by the brat, but the Demon Lord, seeing this,
suddenly jumped off the white elephant, causing a stir among the
surroundings.
Tahara couldn't help but tilt his head at the sudden action and say, "Huh?".
Seeing the Demon Lord approaching silently, Hammer froze up as if paralyzed,
and the brat fell on her ass, one would wonder where her earlier attitude had
gone.
“Hammer was it.. Have you heard from him?"
"Y-yes! He says he's on his way here..."
"Yes. Finally, the time has come! We must give him a big welcome. Wahahaha!"
The Demon Lord was laughing loudly from happiness, wondering what kind of
evil thing he is up to. No matter how much I looked at him, he was the
incarnation of evil itself.
Tahara also saw this and walked over to him.
"Oh my, what an interesting guy, to have the Chief in a good mood."
"This guy is someone Akane picked up in the Demon Realm. He has
connections to the Holy Hero."
"And that guy?! That's pretty amazing... and where is Akane wandering around
without even telling me about something so important?"
"Asking Akane to report back to you is like trying to train a frog to do tricks."
“Ha-ha-ha! Well, that's certainly a tough game to play.”
Hammer's whole body trembled as he heard the conversation going on in front
of him. He had no idea what it is about, but the atmosphere made him hesitate
to even move. And there was no way he could have intervened. Looking next to
him, the brat's eyes had rolled up and she appeared to have fainted.
"Well, I'll move on to the next step. I'll leave the rest to you."
"Understood."
After seeing off the Demon Lord who headed for the casino, Tahara turned
back to the still frozen Hammer. It seemed he hadn't even seen the
unconscious brat next to him.
"Akane picked you up... right? So, do you think you can live up to the Chief’s
expectations?"
"How can I, I'm just a middle-aged man with no redeeming features"
"Is that so? Then you should hurry up and run away. Our chief is too kind to
keep such incompetent people around, you know?"
"Ugh”
Tahara said mischievously, but his eyes weren't smiling. He doesn't mean any
harm by saying this; rather, it is Tahara's advice, and also his kindness. In the
previous world, Tahara took on a lot of the dirty work, and would follow his
orders to eliminate any fools who got in his way, whether they were allies or
enemies.
Even if the Demon Lord took an interest in you, if you were competent like
Madam, it was only good fortune, but if you were incompetent, it would only
shorten your lifespan. Hearing this, Hammer somehow managed to squeeze
the words out from the back of his throat. The words "runaway" sounded all
too familiar to him.
"As you may have guessed, I've been running away from difficulties all this
time. But after meeting so many people, I realized I couldn't continue like this.
No matter how miserable I felt, I had to change."
Come to think of it, no one has had such turbulent days as Hammer recently.
He went out to sea, was made a slave, and from there he encountered people
like Akane, Mink, Cake, the Hero, and the Demon Lord. Whoever he
encountered, they were all people who seemed like they would completely
overturn his outlook on life.
Tahara listened to Hammer's confession with white smoke rising from his eyes,
but replied indifferently.
"Is that so? Well then, hang in there."
Tahara leaves without saying anything else, leaving only Hammer and the brat.
Looking next to him, Hammer realizes that the brat has fainted, and calls out to
her desperately.
"Miss, are you okay? Ah, I don't even know this young lady's name."
Hammer was puzzled that he didn't even know the name of the person who
was insulting him on a daily basis.
Whatever the brat's real name was, it seemed unlikely it would ever be
revealed.

ghost of a young women who was murdered and thrown into a well
“I, I don't like it! I don't like those names!”
Despite the noise from the two of them and the other animal, the construction
of the pulley progressed little by little, and by sunrise the goal was finally in
sight. Perhaps bored with the repetition of simple tasks, the Demon Lord's eyes
were like a dead fish. Aku, who was beside him, looked happy, though he didn't
understand what was so fun about this.
"Everyone was so amazed by this pulley! It brings back some memories."
“Now that I think about it, I've come a long way since I first came here."
You could say that everything changed the day this pulley was installed in Rabi's
village. What was once a low-level item in the old world has brought the village
back to life. From Aku's perspective, the pulley is what connects him to Luna
and the Bunnies, and perhaps she sees it as a bond.
"Also, Maou-sama, the people called NINE came to me earlier."
"Oh, so they’re going around saying hello properly. Well, it's good for kids to
play together sometimes."
The Demon Lord gave a casual reply, but it wasn't a joke to Aku. As It's like they
were treating her like a princess.
"Y-Yes. But, those kids mistook me for some very important person, I'd like you
to say something to them, Maou-sama."
The children probably think that Aku is the daughter of fallen angle. Even
Tahara and Yuu have not given Aku a clear answer on this matter.
"I guess they are just nervous because they just came to this village.
…997, 998..."
The Demon Lord snapped his fingers in an impressive manner. Instantly, the sea
parted and the earth formed, and a gigantic lighthouse appeared there. That
alone was astonishing, but the tower emitted a variety of colored lights at
regular intervals, with caught the awe of everyone who witnessed it.
That light was designed to reassure people. Originally, a lighthouse is a single
ray of light that illuminates the merciless sea, and is built to pray for safe
voyages. It was a setting that Akira Ono had pointlessly added, but now it had
come to life in a wonderful way.
“What a gentle light”
A tear falls from Madam's eye at the warm light that seems to cherish the
human species. Especially since she was told that it was a jewel that praised
her. The painful life they had lived up until now seemed to have come back to
haunt them, and many in the crowd began to sob.
(Oh man, what a reaction. This is turning into a religion)
The unexpected reaction from behind him made the Demon Lord sent a chill
down his spine. Though he had expected it to some extent, the effect was
simply too strong. The Demon Lord sensed that things were going to get
complicated, and immediately made his next move.
"Kondo, where are the setting sites in the north?"
"Yes, yes! It's all written on this tablet!"
Tahara asked him to prepare a plan to fortify the north. Upon receiving the
tablet, the Demon Lord took this opportunity and prepared to flee from the
scene.
"Kondo to keep an eye on Tron to make sure she doesn't get into any trouble.
Well then, Madam, see you later.”
The Demon Lord picked up Aku and disappeared with his entire body,
scattering black feathers. To the crowd, even the way he left was fantastical and
Madam could only stand there in amazement.
Holy Light Kingdom North
"Whew, that was a chilling experience.”
"M-Maou-sama, where are we?"
"Huh? This is the northern part of the Holy Light Kingdom. Tahara has given us
a lot of orders."
According to the contents of the meeting, Tahara wanted ten medium-sized
bases to be established here. A medium-sized base is one that can be
strengthened by giving it "reinforcement materials" and then synthesizing a
“firewall”. This is an excellent item that reduces damage of all attributes by 20.
The exterior appearance is rough and ominous, like a raider's base. There are
various turrets as weapons, so if you stay in the base and defend it, you can
crush your opponent with overwhelming firepower. Not only are there turrets
for machine guns and shotguns, but there are also mines buried inside, so even
if you get inside, nothing good will come of it. Tahara must be very far-sighted,
setting up ten such fortresses.
(Well, shall we get started? I've earned plenty of SP.)
The Demon Lord was humming as he opened the administrator screen, but his
face turned pale. That's because the SP he had earned was almost gone.
(Aha, what the where did all the SP go!)
He had already lost 5,000 on the 1000 pulleys, another 5,000 on the dock, and
800 for the beach and lighthouse. The Demon Lord's body began to tremble as
he realized that 10,800P had disappeared in such a short period of time.
The remaining SP was 6754.
He was like a man who got carried away and started gambling illegally, losing all
his money. However, if he doesn't go along with Tahara's plan, it will cause
major problems. This man has no plans.
(Anyway, I have no choice but to do it!)
" Maou-sama, are you going to build something here too!?"
“well,well…”
Aku looked at him with expectation, but the person she was looking at broke
out in cold sweat. He had no choice but to bet with the little money he had left
in his wallet.
(Take them, my skill points!)
And so, the Demon Lord's struggles begin.
(10 bases, 30 reinforcement materials, 10 fire walls…gone….my SP nooo!)
This alone consumed 700P, and the Demon Lord writhed in agony on this
barren land. His appearance was very similar to that of a individual who lost
everything in stocks. Normally, he was extremely indifferent and careless about
the money in this world, but when it came to SP, he seemed strangely pathetic.
" Maou-sama, are you okay?! You look like you're in a lot of pain”
“Kyu kyu! Melo-rin-kyu!”
"Hey, Mimi! Don't jump on Maou-sama!"
Mimi happily jumps on top of the Demon Lord, and Aku cutely warns her.
However, Tahara's plan require a training camp set up next to it.
(A training camp would just take up even more SP! Is he trying to make me
broke!?)
The Demon Lord yelled in his mind, but this man had no alternative, so he had
no choice but to obey. A training camp is a base that has been specially evolved
using an item called the Seeker's Mindset. If you fight here, you can gain a lot
of experience points and proficiency, and it is often set up by players known as
battle maniacs.
"Dammit! Set up a medium-sized base! Set up a training camp!"
The Demon Lord shouted in desperation and set up two bases. Aku instinctively
backed away from the sudden appearance of a rough fortress.
"What is this, it feels really scary."
"It's a defensive base. If you stay here, you'll hardly die."
The Demon Lord temporarily turns off the interception system and gets inside.
Aku follows him, but when she sees the countless turrets moving automatically,
she speaks to the Demon Lord timidly.
"Is this, um, something to attack people...?"
"Well, it's an interception turret. If we get too close we'll be shot to pieces, but
right now..."
I feel like I've been shot to pieces...The Demon Lord was staggering around as
he inspected the mid-sized base, but the inside was reproduced in detail and
was impeccable as a fortress. The living quarters are equipped with modern
facilities, and electricity and water are available. If we stockpile food here, we
will be able to hold out for a long time.
"Amazing! There's a shower here too!"
"Yes, there are beds, hammocks, refrigerators, kitchens, and everything you
need for life."
He then inspected the training camp, and the reproduction was also
impeccable. This base was integrated with the barracks, and was equipped with
wooden dolls wearing armor, arrow targets, and simple medical facilities. It was
the perfect facility for training soldiers.
The Demon Lord flew here and there during all his travels, setting up camps to
cover the entire northern region, but an additional 900Ps disappeared while
setting up the training camps, and by the time he finished, he had become a
wreck.
"My SP that I worked so hard to earn is gone..."
The Demon Lord returned to the mid-sized base and lay down on the
Hammock looking exhausted. Mimi jumped onto the dejected Demon Lord,
and Aku also got on top of him in a mischievous manner.
" Maou-sama, please stay strong! You can't sleep on a net like this!"
"This is called a hammock... No, that's not important. Anyway, I got you a
souvenir Aku. It was given to me by that Reepita."
Saying this, the Demon Lord takes out a snow crystal. It is a rare gemstone that
is praised as ice that never melts. It's unlikely that you'll find anyone on the
entire continent who can wear this.
"Y-You bought this for me...?"
"Well, it was made by that squirrel over there. There's no need to be shy."
“Her name is Mimi!"
“kyu”
Mimi cried proudly, her expression taking on a smug look. At first, Aku tried to
shy away from the jewel, which gave of an aura of expensiveness. However,
perhaps relieved to hear that Mimi had made it, she suddenly smiled.
"Thank you, Maou-sama! And Mimi!"
Perhaps Mimi was happy to see Aku's smile, as her body glowed faintly and a
chain of white ice sculptures wrapped around the snow crystal, making it look
like a necklace.
"This is nice. If I adjust the length, I think you can wear it on your head."
While saying this The Demon Lord put it around Aku's neck, and it sparkled like
a crystal on her chest.
A girl wearing a snow crystal would be seen as a princess by any nobleman.
Aku, who knew nothing about it, was innocently happy, but this was sure to
cause all sorts of misunderstandings and misconceptions. In that sense, the
Demon Lord and Aku were similar.
"By the way, did you see that white elephant?"
"Yes, Tahara-san let me ride it once!"
“That's also a gift for Aku. You can use as you please."
“Eeeeeh!"
At this point, it was a complete nuisance. Ignoring Aku's shudder, the Demon
Lord closed his eyes as if to say his job was done, and prepared to sleep even
more. It was as if the Holy Light Kingdom changed drastically every time this
man turned over, but the Demon Lord had even more evil plans in mind when
welcoming the Holy Hero.
奇跡の価値は(The value of miracles)
-The East of the Holy Light Kingdom-
Beyond the town of Yahoo, the slum people were heading south toward Rabi's
village. The group heard various rumors as they entered the Holy Light
Kingdom. After hearing them, Hero and the Tri-Stars once again began to think
about the existence of fallen angels.
"There's no darkness in the people's faces."
"That's right. I feel a different atmosphere than before."
Kaiya, the leader, nodded in response to Hero's words.
After tens of thousands of years, the fallen angel Lucifer has descended again.
originally, it would bring fear and despair to the human race. However, since
entering the Holy Light Kingdom, there is no darkness in the faces of the
people. In fact, many people were smiling and full of energy.
"The market is very lively."
"I heard that there has been a lot of flashy purchases."
With so many workers, a great number of supplies were needed: food,
clothing, luxury items, building materials, etc. These were constant orders from
Rabi's village, and the stores were overwhelmed.
Now that reconstruction work and road construction have begun, people and
goods are moving from all over the country. Recently, it has become difficult to
keep up with the demand, and in many cases store owners are even going to
remote villages themselves to buy supplies.
In addition to this good economy, the free distribution of water magic stones
and even congratulatory money to celebrate the unification of the country
were being distributed to each household, so there was no way that people's
faces would be gloomy.
“People are willing to spend and celebrate”
No one could answer Hero’s monologue. The Tri-Stars are generals who stand
on the battlefield, and they have not studied economics in depth.
"The water magic stones that had been putting a strain on our living expenses
were distributed for free, and the oppressive aristocrats were gone. Whatever
they made sold like hotcakes, and it was easy to find work."
Hero thinks that it is only natural that the gloom has disappeared from the
faces of the common people.
The constant pressure from above has disappeared, and a proclamation has
been made to re-rule the entire country in the name of the Three Holy
Maidens. The people have felt the breath of a "new era" and are welcoming it
with open arms.
"The common people are so carefree... We still don't know what that man will
do."
"From the common people's point of view, the noble faction is the devil."
"Hero-sama, what do you think of that Demon Lord, No, the being known as
the Fallen Angel?"
Hero was also pondering when Kaiya asked him this question. The appearance
of the Demon Lord that appeared before Hero was clearly different from what
he had learned about fallen angels from various legends. There are some parts
that overlap with the legends, and some that are even the complete opposite.
"At least, judging from the reaction of the people of this country, it seems that
the fallen angels are also angels."
Hero wanted to laugh as he said that. A notorious rebel was being praised as a
hero. It felt like he had wandered into another world.
He liberated the poor imprisoned children and even rescued the divine beasts,
and there are other rumours also, that were circulating around the place, and
every bar was talking about it.
Some of the people are already in a state of frenzy about the fallen angels who
have unionized the Holy Light Kingdom and wiped out the nobles who had
even drawn in outside forces. If this continues, they will likely make Demon
Lord a god.
"Some of them even included stories that him wiping out entire mountain
ranges and create heaven on earth, which is absurd to even hear."
“create heaven on earth,hmm”
Hero could not help but laugh at Kaya's words. It was easy to laugh it off, but
what if it was true?
It was already beyond the appearance in the legends. Hero turned his gaze to
the girl in front of him, who was slowly riding the horse. The divine aura she
emitted, and the long spear she held seemed to contradict each other. Even if
he fought her with all his might, it seemed difficult to defeat her.
(It was written that the fallen angel summoned many followers, but..)
During the journey, Hero had closely observed Ren, and her spirit was always
noble, and her gaze towards the people was full of compassion. To put it
bluntly, she was more valiant than any king Hero had known, and if she were to
use her skills in a position like a prime minister, it would seem that an ideal
nation to be born.
Then Ren stopped her horse, and showed a rare look of panic. Hero and the
slum residents looked at her in astonishment.
"It appears that the Master is coming to greet us."
A clear smile appeared on Ren's face, and Hero was also surprised. He had
hardly seen Ren smile during their journey. Ren dismounted from his horse,
and the surrounding knights, unable to greet her from their horses,
dismounted one by one.
“Was that hard, Ren---"
Black wings flew down from the sky, and a fallen angel appeared before her
eyes. He had simply moved all the way, but to those around him, it looked like
he had descended from the sky.
"Master, you are beautiful no matter what you look like."
“Well, there are various circumstances."
The Demon Lord felt like he wanted to crawl into a hole in this pathetic cosplay,
but Ren had been in contact with Tahara, so she didn't find it strange. In fact,
she even thought it was a brilliant strategy that took advantage of the legend.
To an outsider, the two of them conversing were a combination of a being with
the wings of a fallen angel and a girl in a black sailor uniform, which is also injet
black. The sight left a strong impression on those around, that Ren was a
member of the fallen angel's family.
"Minister of Euritheis Kingdom, thank you for coming."
"Ha, ha... ha!"
“It's has been while since I was in your country's arena”
The sharp gaze directed at him made the minister almost pee his pants. The
new hero who defeated Jack, the perfect example of madness, King. seeing his
true identity as a fallen angel, a chill was sent down the minister spine.
He had heard that some people called him the Demon Lord, so he was that
Demon Lord?
"Leave it to me. Now, this way."
“ha, yes.”
Ren entered the village with the pale minister and the life less knights.
Kondo was standing at the entrance, waving slightly. Since Ren does not
interfere with Kondo, their relationship is not bad, but that doesn’t mean it
good either though.
After seeing Ren's appearance, the Demon Lord turned a glaring gaze towards
Hero.
"Welcome, hero. I've been waiting for your arrival for a long time"
"Even your form is freely adjustable for you."
Hero had come into contact with the Demon Lord many times in the past. At
the first contact, he was invisible, without even a form. Next was a middle-aged
man who miraculously contained wisdom and violence. This time, he finally
appeared before my eyes as a terrifying being wearing the wings of a fallen
angel. Even the Tri-Stars turned pale, and the slum dwellers were speechless,
because They had come to serve King, the hero who had defeated Jack, but
instead an incredible being appeared before their very eyes.
"Oh, so that's King-san...?"
"You idiot, that's the fallen angel!"
"Wait, wait a minute! King-san was an angel!"
“But he has the same hair and eye color. Ren-san also says he's her master.”
"So what does that mean?"
"Hasn't he gotten so much younger?"
"Oh, my head is spinning”
As the people from slum are in a state of confusion, Eyze and the newcomers
were also shocked. The enormous aura of death surrounding that person
remained the same, it was probably beyond his imagination that he was Lucifer,
the fallen angel from legend. However, they also learned something from that.
"Well, if he's the fallen angel of legend, that presence makes sense..."
"Y-You're a dangerous man who ruled the night...! You look so scary!"
The “death” that Eyze saw was a hell itself. However, it was understandable for
someone who was recorded as a rebel. In fact, there was no way that a mere
human could remain sane while being burdened with the grudges of so many
dead. Amidst all the misunderstandings and confusion, the Demon Lord was
the only one in high spirits. This was the opportunity to finally bring the hero
he had his eye on into his camp. His excitement was abnormally high, and it
was at peak from the very start.
The Demon Lord looked at the slum residents and began to move to prepare
housing for them first. With 2,000 people wandering around, persuasion is not
an option. The Demon Lord took out the holy coins from his pocket with a
dramatic gesture and showed them to the hero. These were the coins that Yu,
eager to achieve success, had extorted from the noble's territory in order to
counter Ren. A total of 21 in total. It’s a figure that came from a deal with the
Gorgon Trading Company. The fact that they were able to recover them so
quickly from the territory of the nobles, where chaos still rages, gives an idea of
the kind of torture, or rather interrogation, that those connected to the noble’s
faction must have been subjected to by Yu. The Demon Lord, who knows
nothing, puts on a show like an actor on stage to take in the hero.
I am the one who rules over all things!
"My world is materializing---! {Area setting: Village hut}"
The Demon Lord tosses the holy coin into the air, and his right hand makes a
sharp horizontal cut. In an instant, the coin flies through the air and emits a
dazzling light that nearly covers the earth. The dry land as far as the eye could
see was overwritten in an instant, and a huge village hut was born there.
Residents of the slum were stunned for a while, but gradually a small voice
leaked out from among them, and soon it turned into something that could not
be called a scream or a cheer, and finally the emotions themselves exploded.
"What is this? A town has been built right in front of us!"
"It's a miracle, the angel has performed a miracle!"
"I-it's not like the wilderness can instantly become a settlement, its impossible”
“You're right!”
The slum residents were so shocked that one after another they bowed down
to the fallen angel.
Hero and the Tri-Stars were just as dumbfounded, speechless as they were.
Hero’s glasses shifted and his body shook at the miracle that had happened
before them.
"That's stupid... something like this..."
Hero had seen the Demon Lord's magic before. That was also a tremendous
thing that crushed the Monsters and silenced the entire labyrinth, but this was
completely beyond the scope of magic. If he had to put it into words, he could
only call it a "miracle". Seeing Hero’s reaction, the Demon Lord secretly
chuckles.
(Okay! It was quite embarrassing, but the effect was outstanding!)
This man had been thinking about flashy scenes and lines by using the holy
coins for a long time, and then combined with his natural acting ability brought
it to perfection. However, the Demon Lord's main goal was to build the remains
of the coal mine, and the village hut was just a beginning.
In fact, the sight of the rows of flats, apartments, and old-fashioned tenement
houses, all of which were reminiscent of the Showa era, was not something he
is proud of. The Demon Lord quickly lets the residents inside, and in order to
show the Hero the ruins of the mine, he says in a dominating tone
"Then, hero. Next is the main attraction, the coal-“
"Let me check inside!"
“ehh”
Hero ran off without looking back to the village hut, and the Tri-Stars and the
residents who saw him followed suit.
(Hey, wait! If they see inside, they'll know how worn out the place is!)
The Demon Lord wanted to grab him by the collar and forcefully pull him back,
but Hero was drawn into the village hut. The hero headed for an old-fashioned
apartment. It was a two-story building, a shabby building that was often seen
in the city in the past. Next to the door were propane gas cylinders and other
things, making it look even more old-fashioned. The emphasis was on that.
Hero looked around, as if everything he saw was unusual.
"What on earth is that red thing..."
"That's, well, it's more of a mailbox for sending letters."
The red post box at the post office was covered in rust, and weeds were
growing at its base. It even had a certain charm, reminiscent of the things that
had been used for many years and worn out. Akira Ono created this area as if it
were a museum, as if it were a representation of the good old days. The
concept is a mix of a time long gone and the scenery of the old countryside.
Modern people might feel nostalgic when they see it, but I don't know how the
hero sees it.
(Damn, did I get the order wrong? This isn't what I wanted to show you!)
The Demon Lord wanted to hold his head in agony. When looking at it closely, I
feel embarrassed seeing how shabby it is. It was as if someone told him "Do
you call something like this a miracle?"
However, what came out of Hero’s mouth was a completely different response.
"In ancient times, even the common people had a culture of sending letters?"
In this world, letters are mainly used by nobles, and are mostly used for
business purposes. They are expensive, and not something that can be used
easily. Even ignoring that, most of the poor aren’t educated so therefore can't
read or write.
"Y-yes, hero. Rather than an area like this, coal”
"Let me take a look inside."
"Eh? Wait...!"
When Hero opens the old wooden door, a simple Japanese-style room
illuminated by faint fluorescent lights appears. On the tatami mats has a
standard low table, an old chest of drawers, and a thin rice cracker futon.
Looking at the adjacent kitchen, he saw a small refrigerator and other
appliances.
"What is this light blue, round object!?"
"... Well, it's a... a fan."
It's a clunky fan with three switches labelled weak, medium, and strong.
Naturally, it doesn't have a timer or even a oscillation function. As Hero looks at
him with a fierce gaze and begs for an explanation, the Demon Lord presses the
switch with a look of disgust on his face.
"The wind, Is this using wind magic stones!? No, I can't feel any magic at all,
Why?”
“well…Electricity, well, not exactly, it's not there”
"Is this some kind of magical tool from ancient times? It would be a great tool
in this hot country. Hmm? What's that white box over there?"
"N-no, let's get out of here and go somewhere else..."
Without listening to the Demon Lord's warnings, Hero next rushes over to the
single-door refrigerator. This was also an old type. Only a part of the top was a
freezer, but it was a hassle to fill the ice tray with water, and then twist it by
hand to drop the ice. Most refrigerators these days automatically make ice and
drop it into a tray to store it, but this refrigerator didn't have such a convenient
function. The smell of the 1970s filled the whole room, and the Demon Lord's
whole body felt like it was going to burst into flames with shame.
"This coolness is produced by the ice demon"
“No, it is not”
The Demon Lord couldn't help but shout. Hero was genuinely surprised, but to
this man, it felt like he was being looked at for flaws and it made him uneasy.
Above all, it wasn't an electrical appliance he could brag about.
"What's that under that pot?"
“It's just a stove."
In desperation, the Demon Lord roughly turned the switch, and a blue flame lit
up. Hero and Tri-Star exclaimed "Wow!" in admiration, To this man, this shabby
kitchen was embarrassing, and somehow it seemed like he was being made
fun, now it is no longer a matter of persuasion.
"This is also a fire magic stone, no, a electricity, was it...?"
"No its propane gas. No, that's enough! get out of here! Get out!"
After forcing out Hero and Tri-Star, who seemed reluctant to leave, the Demon
Lord finally went outside. If they also pulled out an old vacuum cleaner and a
black telephone, he would have exploded with rage. These houses didn't even
have running water, and they were not really suitable for showing to people.
"You can't be, they put things like that in each and every house?!"
“No way, it’s to old”
The Demon Lord sulked as he lit a cigarette and exhaled the smoke with an
irritated gesture. How did he look to Hero?
"I don't care about this area! Let's go to the next one!"
Hero and Tri-Star hurriedly followed the Demon Lord as he strode forward.
Hero watched him with a strange feeling in his heart. On his back, the wings of
a fallen angel, deeper than jet black, were fluttering. They were originally
something to be detested and a symbol of evil.
(Was the legend really correct?)
Something fundamental and important inside Hero was shaking. Seeing such a
miracle right before his eyes, everything he had been taught, everything he had
learned, the myths and legends, began to shake to its very foundations and
cracks began to form. The Tri-Stars seemed to be thinking something similar,
They walked with their mouths shut, their faces showing an expression as if
suppressing something that was rising within them. Behind them, the residents
of slum walking in a line, following the holy being. Looking at them from the
side, Hero’s head was filled with the words of the fallen angel.
(I am the one who rules over all things! My world will become reality!)
Every time he remembers those words, a chill runs down Hero’s spine. It was a
terrifying line that reminded him of God, and it was powerful. Above all, the
miracle that just now was done using the coin that has long been said to
contain the power of the Cherubim.
(If the coin has his power, could an evil being use it?)
The legend is now beginning to waver, but the hero was faced with one fact
that seemed certain. It was something that was so obvious that no one had
really thought about it. A rare rebel who rebelled against the great light. That
means he had the power to resist. And with him being the ruler of night.
(That would mean that they divided the continent into two and fought each
other)
If there was a difference in power between the two, there is no need to divide
the world into day and night. One side will simply be consumed. It was because
their powers were counterbalanced that they had no choice but to divide the
continent.
(Why is the outcome of the battle not depicted in any of the legends?)
Hero finally arrives at this fundamental question. All he had heard from an
early age about fallen angels were banished from heaven and rebelled against
the Great Light. No document speaks of the most important thing, the
outcome of the battle. However, he has simply swallowed the words of praise
that the clergy say in unison, such as "The Great Light illuminated the
continent."
(At worst, it's even possible that the Great Light itself was defeated.
Considering the information control in the country, they would never want to
spread such information)
In fact, the Great Light only remains in legends, and no one has actually seen
him. But the fallen angel has now appeared before his eyes.
(No, it's too early to make a definitive decision. Perhaps he was seriously
injured and it will take time for him to recover.)
Hero’s thoughts were getting stuck in a viscous cycle. No matter how much he
thinks about it, no one can answer the truth about the mythological era.
At the very least, the fallen angel in front of Hero cannot give an answer to
Hero’s question. That is because he is only pretending to be a fallen angel, but
is essentially a con man. To make matters worse, this man has mysterious
powers worthy of being called a fallen angel.
No one would suspect him if he revealed his name, and even if a real fallen
angel were to show up at some point, that fallen angle will likely be treated as
a fake one.
That man, Akira Ono, is someone who can accomplish anything once he sets his
mind to it. Furthermore, his personality is extremely self-righteous, and he
does not fundamentally share the same values as other people. It doesn’t need
to be shared. As He thinks there is no need to do so. He always put his own
world at the center and always think about things from his own perspective. If
necessary, he can destroy the world he has built with the push of a button, and
he will also crush the worlds built by others. It's hard to understand how
troublesome this man is just by scratching the surface, and it's hard to reach his
true nature.
"Now, hero. I've shown you something from a very old time, so I'll show you
one more miracle"
Hearing this, Hero smiles bitterly behind his glasses. Was the time when the
fallen angels existed thousands or tens of thousands of years ago? It's so far
away that no one knows, so it's only natural that it's old. Strictly speaking, the
word "old" doesn't really fit.
(As the excavated ancient fragments show, there was a far more advanced
civilizations and magic in the olden days. Ironically, the theories proposed by
scholars and miners, who have been treated by some as weirdos, have now
been proven to be correct.)
Hero looked at the white box he was carrying, his eyes widening. This was also
an ancient fragment called the “Holy Armor Box”, and from the day he was
chosen by this box, he was obligated to live as a Holy Hero.
"Well, shall we begin?"
A sinister smile appeared on the Demon Lord's face. He must be confident this
time. Hero and Tri-Star swallowed their saliva when they saw the proud
expression on his face. The Holy Coins taken out of the Demon Lord's pockets
were launched into the air one after another by his fingers, but Hero’s excellent
vision saw that there were five of them.
"Bring here the never-ending primordial fire! {Area Setting: Coal Mine Ruins}"
The Demon Lord spread his arms and performed as if singing a magnificent epic
poem. As always, the Fallen Angel's wings, reading the mood unnecessarily,
activated an effect, scattering jet black feathers all over the place.
As everyone was captivated by the majestic sight, the sacred coins began to
emit light in a chain reaction. A dazzling light lit up the wasteland, and the pure
white glow soon painted the earth as the remains of a coal mine. From the
outside, it was a vast cavern, with the bottom not visible, and countless
minecarts and rails laid out. Inside were various switches and buttons, and
several lights illuminating the interior. At the overwhelming sight, Hero shouted
in denial.
"What on earth are you doing, what is this!?"
"This is the mine that produces the black stone you speak of. Now, I'll show you
around myself.”
"Black stone!? It's long since depleted."
“Aha, before we get to that, let's stop the bad events. A person can be injured
in the leg by a hole dug by a mole, damaged by falling rocks, or poisoned by
toxic gases. Also, let's eliminate any dust explosions.”
The Demon Lord was busy mumbling something to himself. He was fiddling
with the administration screen, but the others couldn't see it at all. From Hero’s
perspective, his appearance must have been extremely strange.
"That's good. Let's go."
The Demon Lord, not minding Hero’s confusion, strode inside with a
confidence. Though the entrance to the mine was dimly lit, gas lamps were
installed here and there inside, ensuring good visibility. The mine was also
equipped with a pickaxe, a scooter, and a wheelbarrow, so it would be possible
to start mining today if he so wished. As he checks each piece of equipment,
the Demon Lord mutters softly.
"It's been a long time since I last came here. It used to be so lively"
That voice seems to be filled with nostalgia. And Hero, not knowing how to
respond, just watched in silence. The Demon Lord suddenly picked up a pickaxe
and slammed it into the mine.
“Look Hero, this is most likely a least rarity rock”
“least”
It was just an ordinary stone, the size that could be placed in the palm of one's
hand. It would at best become a primitive weapons, but they had no special
powers. However, as the different types of rocks were thrown one after the
other, sweat started pouring down Hero’s forehead. The Demon Lord spoke as
if giving a lecture while swinging his pickaxe.
"Namiguro stone, Kakimi stone, Aoryu stone, Sawa stone, Asama mountain
stone, Matsuba gravel, Ise gravel, Shirakawa sand, Beni Mikage, the white of
Canyon Rock, red and pink…"
"How could one mine produce so many different kinds of stones.?"
"Why? Because I wanted to take up space in the player's inventory. To put it
simply, it was just a annoying prank, hahaha!"
"Pra ? What have you been saying.”
"In the past, stones were worthless, but if gravel can be used for drainage if it is
laid well, It also improves the scenery. If you want to lay railroad tracks, you'll
need crushed stone of various sizes."
The Demon Lord's didn’t even mind answering Hero’s question. He was
completely in his own world, and seemed to be boasting about it, just like a
child.
"Well, it's been a while since we last mined. Let's keep going!"
The Demon Lord continued to slam his pickaxe, but all that came out were
rocks. However, after a few slams, something terrifying was thrown at Hero.
"Well, it's a miss, but it can still be used as fuel."
"This is a prohibited item!? Why is charcoal coming out of a coal mine?"
"This is an area where the purpose is to get fuel, after all."
Hero felt an unknown fear at the object that was thrown to him, but no matter
how he looked at it, it looked like charcoal, so he handed it over to the Tri-Stars
and asked them to confirm it.
"This is…definitely charcoal, it is..."
"How can trees and other things grow in the mine."
"This can't be true! This is all just an illusion!"
Ignoring the commotion behind him, the Demon Lord continued to slam his
pickaxe down and tossed another piece of charcoal. The previous charcoal was
ordinary black charcoal, but this time it was white charcoal. The Demon Lord
proudly explained the characteristics of each.
"Black charcoal lights easily but burns for a short time. White charcoal lights
poorly, but burns for a long time and it is odorless. Which one to use depends
on the situation."
Fire for cooking, fire for maintaining body heat in cold regions, and fire for
processing and repairing weapons and so on. Akira Ono, who makes no
compromise in his own world, has a variety of fuels, which is appreciated by
some and annoying to others.
"Hmm. This is a big miss, but it seems useful in this world."
The next thing the Demon Lord threw was bamboo charcoal. At the very least,
the stone could be thrown as a weapon, but bamboo charcoal had no use in
the venue, and even if it was lit, it would turn to ash immediately, so it was
useless as fuel.
"Well, if you mix it into bread here, it will help with constipation and diarrhea."
It also has the effect of preventing hangovers and absorbing excess sugar and
fat during meals, so its uses are quite wide. Hero and Tri Star were stunned by
the items that were thrown one after another, but finally a black stone was dug
out from the tunnel.
"The long-awaited black stone. Although, it's not a big hit."
"No way, really!?"
Hero couldn't believe his ears, but the thing that was handed to him was a
treasure that had been dug up in a distant mythical age and had long since
been lost. Goosebumps began rising on his hands as he receives it, and then a
shock runs through him that makes his hair stand on end.
"Can you really dig up black stones from this mine?!"
"Well, this is just an old fuel, after all."
To this man, the world is dominated by oil, electricity, and sometimes atomic
and solar power, so coal is not what comes to mind when talking about fuel or
energy. It's exactly the image of what was used in ancient warships and steam
locomotives.
"Okay, it's finally here! This is the big winner, anthracite coal."
It was the most powerful and longest burning fuel at the venue. Furthermore,
it hardly produced any smoke, making it unlikely for the enemy to see it,
making it the best fuel. Unlike ordinary coal, the surface of this coal has a
metallic sheen, and Hero felt the blood drain from his body as he looked at this
mine where treasures were being mined without a care in the world.
"Can you recreate the ancient times, no, that world?"
The Demon Lord tilted his head at the words, and eventually replied, "That's
not true." To this man, this coal mine ruin, no, everything that was established
and created, and was not some vague thing from the ancient times.
"These are from the worlds that I created and ruled over."
"What! What do you mean!?"
Hero was speechless at the words the Demon Lord casually spat out. His sharp
gaze was filled with a mysterious light, and there was not a single hint of a lie in
it. In fact, there was no lie in what he said just now, it was the truth. Satisfied
with the performance of the mine, the Demon Lord muttered to himself.
"To start with, let's have some people from the slum work here to dig up fuel.
We can sell it to Gorgon later. We can distribute the charcoal domestically and
sell the fire magic stone to other countries and make a profit."
Neither Hero nor the Tri-Stars couldn’t even nod in agreement at his ominous
monologue. Their heads had been in a quite a dilemma for a while now, and he
couldn't decide whether what he was doing would be good or bad for the
people. But Hero had something he absolutely had to confirm.
"Wait a minute! When you say you make them work here, do you mean they're
working without pay? Or do you mean they're working here as slaves to pay for
living in that ancient city?"
"That's a nasty thing to say, don’t talk like I’m the president of a black
company!"
Hero didn't understand the meaning of those words, but at the very least, the
fallen angel before him was clearly black in color, blacker than anything else. If
you were asked to find something blacker than him, you’re unlikely to find
anything.
"We'll decide on the details of the conditions, like housing allocation, wages,
working hours, holidays, etc. If rumors get around that it's a black workplace,
people won't come."
"Can I be there too?"
"That's a great proposal. If you're a witness, they'll be relieved."
"......"
Hero said it to warn him, but from this man's point of view, it was a dream
come true. After all, the Holy Hero is a man of unparalleled popularity in the
continent, and if the hero gives his stamp of approval, it will be a great help to
increasing his reputation. The more the hero struggles, the more it benefits this
man, so this is no laughing matter.
"Well, that's all for today. From now on, you can ask Kondo to show you around
the village. There's a lot of interesting things to see. It shouldn't be boring."
With that, the Demon Lord moved away and disappeared. All that remained
was an eerie silence and the treasure he left behind carelessly.
天使の足音(The Footsteps of an Angel)
--Rabi Village Hot Springs Inn—
There, the Minister of Euritheis, who had been guided by Ren, and his knight
escorts were making a fuss in front of the hot water. A male bunny explained
how to use the facility, but everyone was so taken back to their childhood by
this amazing sight that even the middle-aged knights started shouting out loud.
"Oh my! This shower really does produce endless amounts of water!"
"Look at this soap! It makes my skin so smooth!?"
"What is this water, It melts away all the stiffness I've had for years."
"This yellow water is sending tingles through my body, it's gross!"
"You said it was a shower, This is irresistible. It washes off all the sweat and dirt
in one go."
"Hey, try putting this conditioner on your hair! It makes even curly hair
smooth."
"I'm going to jump in!"
It was completely like a school trip. The minister was also guided to the open-
air bath, and his eyes were moist with joy at how comfortable it was. The
setting of relieving the daily fatigue must have permeated his entire body.
Come to think of it, the minister hasn't had a chance to relax since Jack's
tyranny began.
"Was such a paradise really in existence till now?"
After all, this was a long journey across several countries. Traveling on this
continent means that you can be attacked by anyone at any time, and whether
you are an army or a merchant caravan, you are always risking your life. The
journey with the defenseless people of slum must have been especially
difficult. The knights, unaware of the minister's worries, made a fuss in front of
the mysterious hot spring.
The bunnies brought wine and snacks one after another, which was irresistible.
Not only was there alcohol from this world, but there were also various
alcohols brought from the casino, and the knights who tasted them couldn't
help but gulp.
"Yummmy! What is this Hyper Dry thing?"
"The downtown Napoleon is also delicious... it warms my stomach."
"Try this karumiruku (Japanese street food). You'll be in haven!"
The ministers and knights sat naked at the table prepared in the open-air bath
without hesitation, and savored the food that was brought to them. Depending
on the country, there is a culture where high-ranking people do not care at all if
the common people see them naked, and Euritheis seems to be one of them.
Perhaps because they were released from the long tension, the knights ate the
food that was laid out like animals.
The minister was pleased to see the roasted lamb, garnished with carrots, a
luxury on this continent, white bread, honey-soaked apples, fried almonds, and
salty cheese.
"Oh, it's delicious! I never thought I'd be able to eat so many carrots!"
The chef who prepared the food was a favorite apprentice of Lei, who was in
charge of Nomanoma's second restaurant. As expected from her, her skills
were excellent. It seemed like the nutrients were spreading through his body,
tired from the long journey, and the wine was drained one after another. After
finishing his meal, the minister immersed himself in the open-air bath as if he
were returning home.
"I never thought that such a paradise would be waiting for me at the end of my
journey”
In the back of his mind, the minister thought of the power of the fallen angel.
When the being from legend appeared before me, I prepared myself for death,
thinking that I would be eaten from the head, but I never expected to be
treated like this.
"My whole body was tired; my bones are melting”
There is no way that humans could create such a facility. Who would create a
place like this, where water and hot water overflow endlessly, and can only be
described as miracle?
When I entered the "golden temple" with a starry sky spreading from the
ceiling, I was so moved that I thought I would have no regrets even if I died like
this. When I saw that place, there was only one word that came to my mind:
"The one who ruled the night" really existed in ancient times.
"I don't want to go back."
No one could blame the minister for saying this. Everyone probably had the
same thought: if they could go to such a facility every day. The vibrant streets
somehow make their hearts flutter, and when they see the golden temple in
the distance, they were are all speechless. It's as if everything will change if
they go there.
He is overcome by such a strange thought. The people here are upper class
knights selected by the royal palace, but they are still in this state. The Captain
of the Guard, bathing next to the Minister, must have had something on his
mind. He starts off by asking a fundamental question.
"King-dono... no, for what purpose did that fallen angel come to the slums..."
"Ren-dono said they would dig up the black stone."
"The black stone? It dried up a long time ago."
"There must be one. Such a mysterious facility exists."
The Minister answers the Captain's questions. Though his thoughts go much
deeper than that
"I don't want to go back."
Once again, the minister said something similar. Although he may be a bit
pushy, this minister is by no means a fool. That's why they understand how
difficult it will be to rebuild after Jack's death. If they make a mistake, the
country could be destroyed.
"Anyway, I need to get a sailor suit made before I return home."
"Minister, please give me one too."
"Oh, I want one too!"
During their journey, people who had seen Ren in her sailor uniform were
captivated by her. Not only the minister, but the elite knights of the royal
palace also fell for the girl Ren.
Leaving the hot spring feeling tipsy, the group passes by Madam, the empress
who rules over the inn. Everyone's eyes were glued to her mature womanly
charms and her perfect proportions. Her bewitching eyes and clear, firm skin
were so enchanting that it was hard to suppress the urge to touch her, and it
took bone-rattling patience.
"Good day. I wonder how his "world" is?"
"Y-yes! It was so, so wonderful!"
"That's great. Please come again"
Everyone stared silently at the figure of Madam as she lightly stroked the
minister's chin and left. Because they had no idea how to achieve or maintain
such beauty.
"She's so beautiful."
When the members of Euritheis were getting more and more interested in
living here, Ren went to the village huts and assigned the housing. Some of the
slum residents are single, while others have moved with their families, so it is
necessary to assign them housing that suits them. Single men are placed in
Row Houses, women are grouped together in apartments, and families are
assigned small, single-story houses. Ren also gathers the representatives at the
same time and tells them how to use the gas stove, refrigerator, and electric
fan.
"Please be careful of fire. Also, we'll use this well for water."
The well has a pump attached, and water gushes out when it is moved up and
down. A bucket-type well requires a lot of strength, but this type should be
easy for even a child to pump.
"R-Ren-sama... How much does this well's water cost? Gas stove? How much
does it cost?"
When they came here, they had been told that they could use water as much
as they wanted. However, the slum residents, who had suffered so much up
until now, were not so quick to accept such a sweet story. They had made this
long journey in desperation, wanting to escape from excessive debt and at least
live without hunger.
"I checked with master, and he said that the rent for the village hut is free. In
addition, you are free to use the well and other electrical appliances installed in
the house at no expense."
"Free? This fine house and magical tools?"
"However, anyone who takes anything such as water, salt, or electrical
appliances, even one step outside of the house, will be expelled."
Ren gives of a sinister air, and the resident's faces turn pale. The residents now
understand that this girl is a very kind-hearted person, but at the same time,
they knew all too well how can turn into devil if anyone cross her path. A group
of people who were notorious bad guys and were looked down upon even in
the slums have now become completely different people. Even their parents
probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. A bent iron bar cannot be
restored to its original shape, no matter how much you work with it. What Ren
quietly did was to throw the bent iron bar into a red-hot furnace, melt it, and
pour it into a new mold. It's like incinerating all of the past and replacing each
personality. It's a method that can hardly be called humane, as his aides, by
nature, handle others in a completely different way.
Yu can deceive others and wear the cloak of a good person, but he is
fundamentally merciless to everyone.
Tahara is a good big brother to his allies, but sometimes he is even more
merciless than Yu to his enemies.
Akane is like the sun, but she will crush anyone she considers an enemy,
regardless of whether they are good or bad.
As for Kondo, he has no interest in anything three-dimensional.
Ren is compassionate towards good people, but he is more merciless than
anyone else when it comes to evil people.
Each response has its problems, but there is no doubt that Ren is the most
decent of them all.
Yu would immediately use anyone who breaks the rules as an experimental
animal, and Tahara would shoot them on the spot. Akane would surely break
their neck so fast that you would not even notice that they are dead. Kondo
also hates trouble and will probably just erase their existence and pretend it
never happened. Taking all of this into consideration, Ren calmly states,
"Furthermore, if anyone other than me finds you, I cannot guarantee your life."
The residents were frightened by the machine-like words. Those words were
not a threat or anything, they were simply stating the facts, and no matter how
they tried to explain it, the result would never be reversed.
"Now, I'll take you to the public bath next. This will cost you three copper
coins”
While Ren continued to explain smoothly, Kondo also met the person known as
the Holy Hero and the Tri-Stars. Kondo had no interest in the third dimension,
but he seemed to feel some kind of affinity with Hero, and looked unusually
happy.
"Hero-san, that's a popular hot spring inn."
"A hot spring, is it.?"
The building looked different to Hero. It was like a completely different culture,
and completely different design philosophy. It was truly a facility that existed in
ancient times.
"There are many different baths inside, but it's impossible to bath naked with a
stranger in the same room. First of all, it's a pain to even leave the room."
Kondo was rambling on about something he could only imagine as a useless
person, but when he said he was going to bath naked, the triple star reacted
strongly.
"That's, quite interesting."
"Um, well! It's about time we got rid of the dust of the war."
"You said Kondo-dono? I don't think there's a filthy bitch in there, do you?"
At the last question, Kondo hurriedly shook his head in denial, and told that
men's and women's baths are separate.
"A bath for men only?"
"You mean such facilities existed openly in ancient times?"
"Hero-sama, let's first wash off the dust of our journey. No, we should go!"
To be precise, hot springs do exist on this continent. They exist in the great
outdoors, deep in the mountains or sometimes near the sea. However, unlike
the hot springs established by the Demon Lord, they do not have any special
effects. In the mansions of great nobles, some people used fire magic stones
lavishly to create bathtubs, but these were only a few exceptions, and the
concept of hot springs did not exist in the lives of the common people. Bathing
on this continent is mostly done with a cold bath.
"Wh-what do you mean, Why are there forests and such in this land?”
Hero was speechless, as if he hadn't heard what the people around him were
saying, as he saw the healing forest beyond the inn. It hadn't existed the last
time he'd visited this place. Up ahead, they saw a field hospital and a golden
temple in the distance, and couldn't help but run off. The Tri-Stars also saw this
and hurried after him.
“Ahaha! Seeing Hero-san running reminds me of the Summer Comiket2!”
Kondo cheerfully chased after him, not knowing what was so fun about it, but
when Hero saw the forest that spread out before him, he couldn’t believe it.
That was because divine power was gushing out from the forest. Looking
inside, he saw many old people and injured people lying down with peaceful
expressions.
"This is, not just a forest. I feel an extremely strong power similar to holy
energy."
The Tri-Stars silently nodded at Hero’s words. There is a "holy" magic that is a
higher level than "light", and many of these magic spells have the power to
ward off evil and promote the recovery of the human body. In response to the
hero's reaction, Kondo responded as if he were talking about tomorrow's
weather.
"This place has the effect of healing injuries over time. If you stay in your room,
you won't get hurt, but 3-D people are really stupid."
As Kondo kept talking, assuming the hero was also a NEET, but that was not the
case from Hero’s point of view. There's a limit to how insane a forest can be,
constantly emitting holy energy to heal.
"Ha, ha ha...”
2
Summer Comiket is a famous event in Japan, typically known for being bustling and full of energy.
Finally, a dry laugh escaped Hero’s mouth. A little while ago, an ancient city has
suddenly appeared in the wilderness, and even a mine containing lost
treasures had appeared. Moreover, they were not illusions or anything like
that; they were all things that he had felt with his own eyes, ears, and hands.
"I no longer understand anything about the legends."
In the forest, there were old people who looked like poor people, and nobles
lying on a red carpet. In this forest that radiates sacred power, no matter how
demanding a noble is, they probably wouldn't bother to mention their status.
In fact, Hero’s thoughts were correct. This is one of the evolution bases that
has even been labeled as a healing forest, and Akira Ono has given this forest
an aroma-therapy like setting.
In a place where both body and mind melt into the fresh greenery, there are no
such unrefined aristocrats around Madam who would go out of their way to
cause trouble.
"It really is a dazzling sight."
Perhaps his throat was parched from the succession of miracles, Hero took out
a plastic bottle. It was the sports drink that the Demon Lord had previously
thrown to him. Perhaps something about the girl on the packaging made Hero
think of something, but instead of throwing it away, he filled it with water and
used it as a water bottle after it was empty.
"Wait, isn't that a green onion girl? You really like her!"
"Huh? well, I thought it was a beautiful portrait."
"Then please come to my room! I have a rhythm game called Project NEGI."
Hero tilted his head at the words he had never heard before, but he
instinctively braced himself when a strange screen suddenly appeared in front
of Kondo. The girl on the screen was cute, but there was something sinister
about her.
《I thought you were only going to rely on me, Kondo-kun? Why do you keep
looking at other women? Hey, why why why why why why why such a woman
should sink into the sea. 》
"N-no! I'm just reaching out to my comrades who can't take that next step"
《You were calling the other girls archangels too ! 》
"I-it's true that there are other archangels, but Kaminari-chan is my mom!"
Kondo turned to the screen and said something incomprehensible. Hero was
listening to the conversation, but his expression changed when he heard a
certain word.
"Arch... angel...?"
This words, full of solemnity and dignity, were unmistakable to anyone living on
this continent. A terrifying situation was steadily building up without a certain
Demon Lord's knowledge.
A new trend is now being born in Rabi's village. It is a practice to worship the
lighthouse that has appeared as if cutting through the sea, from early in the
morning. At first glance, it may seem like a strange behaviour, but their
expression shows that they were serious. The person who started this trend is
the noblewoman gazing at the tower - Madam herself. Ever since the tower
was installed, Madam has made it a daily routine to go to the tower every
morning. After all, that fallen angel said that, “I will prepare a suitable jewel to
match your efforts”.
Many in the crowd had heard it too. Madam had not yet woken up from that
miracle, and was drifting in a faint dream. There was not only joy, but also an
indescribable awe. At the very least, it must have sent shivers down her spine
and it was like anything she had never experienced before.
A rear being in legends with just the snap of his fingers, parted the sea, and
bought white tower into existence. This alone is an unimaginable, mythical
scene. The tower even emits a light reminiscent of a jewel, gently illuminating
the hearts of the people.
In a way, it may have been natural for Madam to visit the tower as a daily
routine. The crowd also gazes up at the light, praying fervently for the safety of
the people. Whether its workers working in civil engineering work, or miners
mining in coal mines, or women roasting tea leaves, none of these jobs are
easy, and the workers pray earnestly to avoid injury or illness. The crowd
offered prayers, and finally praised Madam.
Butterfly “blessed” by a fallen angel. People now call her that with admiration.
This is what the crowd, who barely knew Madame, thought. The nobles who
knew her past self couldn't handle it. The crowd was in an uproar, wondering if
such a miracle could come from being favoured by the fallen angel.
It all started with a political upheaval in which the noble faction was wiped out
overnight. In the midst of the confusion, everyone rushed to Madam's place,
seeking accurate information, but what they saw there was a butterfly that had
dramatically changed. Not only did they get accurate information. The ladies
who were Madame's sympathizers were so entranced by her beauty, resulting
in the unexpected result of them buying up large quantities of lotion that Yu
had produced from hot spring water.
To their dismay, the lotion's effects were immediately noticeable, and ladies
who had used it started placing orders one after another, now they were
entering the world of money games. Originally, the effect of lotion was to
retain and protect moisture in the skin and prevent it from evaporating.
Especially in this hot Holy Light Country, the effects of this product were even
more noticeable.
At first, she set the price at an extortionate 5 silver coins for a bottle, but they
sold out in an instant, and now she is receiving a flurry of inquiries from
abroad.
Whether she knows about the chaos or not, Madam's daily life continues
unchanged. Every morning, she goes to the tower and renews her resolve.
"Be beautiful like that tower. I'm sure that's what you’re saying."
These bewitching words spill from Madam's mouth. When it comes to beauty,
she is endlessly greedy and knows no bounds. Therefore, she does not see the
tower as a reward, but as an encouragement to work even harder.
"I no longer have any doubts."
The role of a lighthouse is, of course, to guide people to their destination
without getting lost. It was only natural that Madame would no longer be
confused. She starts walking towards the inn, placing her hand on hair as it
sways in the wind.
Taking this as opportunity, the crowd also gathers their energy, calling out to
each other as they head to work. It's like a daily routine, akin to a rally or a
morning assembly. It's like they have a rally or morning assembly every day.
Two shadows were looking down on this strange scene from the balcony of the
owner's room. They are the rumored fallen angel and the demon Tron.
"Madame is still as beautiful and sparkling as ever."
"Just like always."
Tron has a special eye that sees objects by the color of their soul. From her
point of view, Madame is still the same noble and proud woman she was
before, and nothing has changed in essence.
"That's a bit too much, There's no trace of her old self anywhere."
He instinctively put his hands to his face and looked up to the sky. This man
remembered every detail of the setting he'd given to the hot spring inn, but
after seeing such a dramatic before and after, he could only think that he'd
gone too far.
"Maou, are you okay? Would you like to drink the blood of a virgin?"
"Stay away from blood already! If someone hears you, they'll think I’m an
pervert."
"Do you like virgins, Zero-sama?"
"You see, he's a total idiot, a member of a biker gang. He'd rather fight than be
with a girl."
"Rather than fighting, I'm the better choice."
As she said this, Tron grabbed the edge of her skirt and spun around on the
spot. Although her appearance was purely beautiful, if Zero were to be here
with his appearance, he would 100% look like a kidnapper.
(The Silver Dragon, Hmm?)
The Demon Lord once again thought about Zero, whom he had created. He
liked fighting more than he liked eating, and wanted to be the center of
attention more than anyone else. He was a man who had no hesitation in
showing himself off to those around him. He was also kind to women and
children, and the type of person who couldn't leave a wet kitten alone. He was
a typical example of a tough man from the good old days. He was nothing like
the Demon Lord.
"Once this problem is resolved, it might be nice to live alone for a while."
When Akira Ono is inside Kunai Hakuto, he sometimes feels a sense of security,
as if he were at home. It's probably related to the fact that he was the first
character he created, that he gave him his own name, and that he was active
for a long time. On the other hand, there is often no freedom in one's home.
Zero's existence was free from various ties, and he was able to act freely and
unrestrainedly, living alone. Looking back on the turbulent days since coming to
this world, it may have been natural for Akira Ono to seek a carefree time
where he could act without thinking about anything.
The Demon Lord was checking out each area with the telescope, but something
unpleasant was reflected in his field of vision.
"That man, is he still sleeping in the village shack?"
The Demon Lord pointed his lens at an old village shack. He had repeatedly told
Hero to stay in the suite at the casino, but he stubbornly refused and continued
to live in a poor tenement with the slum residents. From the Demon Lord's
point of view, it was nothing but harassment.
"That guy is practically saying ‘How long are you going to keep the residents
crammed into this rundown shack?’ He's silently pressuring us! Dammit!"
"Maou, I think you're overthinking it."
Tron's sharp remarks go unheard by the Demon Lord. From the man's point of
view, he just wants to shout out loud that his world is not just like this. This
man has never been able to maintain an adult attitude toward the world he has
created over the years, and sometimes shows a very childish side. The Demon
Lord screams and writhes on the balcony, clutching his head.
"Damn, how am I supposed to open up the high resort area? If I let them live in
those shabby tenements, they'll laugh at my world!"
"Maou, calm down. Besides, it seems like that Hero likes the village."
Tron was right, and Hero had a strong affection for the village huts. Every detail
of the setting really hits home for him. It was an area where common people
lived and slept, and although they were poor, they lived by helping each other.
The village hut had the simplicity of the good old days, boundless cheerfulness,
and time flowed slowly.
Unlike the Demon Lord's suffering, for the hero, who did not like extravagance
and lived a simple and solid life, this village hut was an ideal environment that
he had dreamed of. On the other hand, if he had built a high resort area filled
with the smell of money, Hero would have had strong doubts about the Demon
Lord and would never have trusted him. You never know what will bring you
happiness in this world.
"He loves the village, so Maou, don't worry about it."
"Don't say stupid things. Of course a suite is better than that rundown hut. It
has a marble bathroom and a bed worth 500 million yen."
A bed worth 500 million might sound ridiculous, but it is based on a real object
and is the height of luxury, made from 107 kilograms of 24-carat gold. Of
course, if he showed him that bed, Hero would have expressed his disgust.
"Maou, it's almost time to open the gate."
"Um, well."
Still thinking about Hero, the Demon Lord turned his eyes to the entrance of
the village. It seemed that nobles from all over were entering through the open
gate one after another.
Eyze and the newcomer stood on either side of the gate at the entrance,
pretending to be nonchalant, while observing everyone closely. After the
nobles were finished, the next group of people related to the village and
workers from outside entered the village one after another. Lastly, some
ordinary guests entered, but Eyze grabbed one of them by the arm as they
passed by. He must have been plotting something nefarious. Naturally, the
other side didn't understand what was going on, so he attacked Eyze.
"What the hell, you? Do you want something from me, Wait, whoaaaa!"
An arrow flew from somewhere and pierced the man's feet, causing him to fall
on his butt. The arrow was fired from a military drone that Kondo was
patrolling. Kondo was so determined not to leave the room that he even had a
drone patrolling.
"What's with that magic tool. First of all, what did I do!? I just want to buy
something."
"Now, now, I'll tell you what you've done over there."
The newcomer spoke to him gently and quickly tied his hands behind his back.
To be precise, the man hadn't done anything yet, but he was carried to the
station house, what awaited there was Ren, whose gaze was so cold it seemed
to freeze even to the heart, paralyzed with fear he ended up confessing
everything.
It would be impossible for even a high-ranking demon to keep up a lie in front
of her. After confirming that the village's security system was working properly,
the Demon Lord frowned.
"It was quite a sight. Those two were impressive, but the atmosphere was
tense when Ren was there."
Ren is sweeter than sugar when it comes to the Demon Lord, but she is actually
a genuine class president character. She is stricter than most when it comes to
violations of public order and discipline, and now she gathers those who have
survived strict interviews and has the discipline committee patrol the place to
enforce discipline, enforcing strict policing.
Tron also looks at Ren and speaks as if she was a strange creature.
"That girl is very cold and scary. But she's kind."
"Well, maybe that's true."
Tron's words were strangely contradictory, but this man could agree with them.
Ren has an icy side and a gentle side reminiscent of cherry blossoms.
"Even so, there are a lot of people. No, there are too many."
"Tahara said that. We'll gather a huge crowd and show off the angel."
"What do you mean, angel?”
Hearing this, the Demon Lord spat out his reply. The reason why the number of
people visiting the village is increasing is not only because of the good
economy and the various facilities, but also because they have heard rumors
that an archangel will be summoned.
"Maou, can you summon angels? Are you friends?"
"There's no way I can summon them! Why do I have to be friends with such
shady creatures."
When it comes to being shady, no one can match this man, but he still says
whatever he wants. But Tron's carefree questions continued.
"I heard Mao is good friends with the beastmen. Are you friends with the
beasts? Are you a Kemofure3?"
"What do you mean, Kemofure? That's a weird abbreviation."
After pulling himself together, and see that many of the people who have
entered the village are heading straight for the beach. The pure white beach
and the emerald sea that stretches to the horizon must already be the subject
3
"Kemofure" is a short for Kemono Friends, a popular anime about animal-like characters.
of rumors. People raced along the sandy beach, some innocently splashing
water at each other.
"Some people are already swimming.”
"I want a cute swimsuit too. Daddy, buy it for me."
"Who's daddy?"
Of course, the beach can be used for swimming, and some aristocrats are
swimming gracefully in their newly purchased swimsuits in the open section.
At the Bingo store, which sells clothing, aristocrats have been lining up since
the morning, screaming with joy as they place orders for extravagant swimsuits
one after another. No, it's safe to say that the busyness has reached another
level.
Naturally, retailers that sell fabrics, thread, needles, and so on cannot help but
feel affected. The store owners who were initially happy turned pale as they
watched their stock melt away in an instant. If they fulfill all of Bingo's large
orders, they won't have any left to sell to their regular clients. When that
happens, the pot will eventually fall on the hands of the craftsmen who make
the things. The only solution to this problem is to increase production and raise
the bottom line.
The Demon Lord sets up areas as if he is breathing, but it changes people's lives
from the ground up, and the repercussions affect the entire society. Now, there
is no end to the number of workers who want to live in the ancient city that
suddenly appeared, and Ren is busy dealing with them.
"Well, it may be a good thing that swimming in the sea was discovered in this
hot country."
"I want to swim too! I want you to call the Kemofure as well!"
"I'm not calling!"
Though the two were making a fuss for no reason, the nobles who had enjoyed
the sea bathing had no intention of leaving just yet, and instead, they went
toward the commercial district.
Naturally, they eat a lavish meal and drink wine. Many people complain that
they don't want to go home, and the nearby inns are already full every day, so
the construction of a large-scale accommodation facility is urgently needed.
"Even so, are there still no fish to catch."
The Demon Lord looks out to sea and lights a cigarette with an irritated look.
There are many boats rocking with the waves, but there is no particular
change. The Demon Lord is eager to have everyone try fishing, perhaps hoping
to use seafood as a snack while drinking, but there have been no results yet.
Ignoring the irritated Demon Lord, Tron replies in a sleepy voice.
"That sea is strange. Fishermen, nobles, bunnies, no one can catch anything."
"Probably, fishing skills are necessary. Damn it, if that's the case, I should have
set it so that anyone could catch fish!"
In the previous venue, fishing was a respectable skill, and it was acquired by
consuming SP. Those who don't have the skill can't even use the fishing
command. It goes without saying, but fishing in this world is done based on
knowledge and experience. You don't catch fish with SP. That's why even the
fishermen of the Islands Union, also known as the Sea People, are so helpless
in front of this sea. The Demon Lord is often saved by many settings, but this
time, it completely backfired.
"If you want fish that badly, you can just buy it from another country."
"No good, that's like eating a lump of vinegar and salt."
On this continent, pickling or salting is the most common method of
preservation. Of course, there are no planes or trucks, and by the time it
reaches Holy Light, the flavor has deteriorated and it just tastes of vinegar and
salt. For a Demon Lord who is accustomed to modern gourmet food, this is
unbearable.
“My evening drinking plan, Salted sea urchin, salmon roe pickled in soy sauce,
octopus with wasabi, haaa…”
“I’ve got a great idea. Mao can become Zero and go fishing!”
“There’s no way that stupid muscle-brained guy has any skill at fishing.”
The Demon Lord muttered dismissively, but Zero does have the skill of
“sewing”. This is a tribute to the fact that the main character of a certain biker
gang manga was the captain of the handicraft club, despite his appearance. By
the way, sewing is a great skill that can instantly restore the durability of any
armor to its maximum value, so if Zero opened a repair shop, it would be a
huge success.
The Demon Lord was hanging his head when a "MESSAGE" arrived from Tahara.
He had sensed that the Demon Lord was in a terrible mood for the past few
days and had avoided contact, but this time he was incredibly cheerful, almost
eerily so.
《Sorry to bother you while you're busy, Chief. Thanks to you, we've got
everything ready, so how about we start the grand unveiling of the Archangel
soon? 》
(Is this guy joking about the Archangel, or is he serious!?)
The Demon Lord is in anguish, but from Tahara's point of view, it's just the
timing arranged by his superiors. He has performed many miracles in front of
everyone, and all eyes of the Holy Light Kingdom are on Rabi's village.
Moreover, the Holy Hero and the Minister of Euritheis, are also staying there,
so it can be said that the best stage is set for the summoning of the Archangel.
The national system changed completely due to the civil war, the fallen angel's
reappearance, the many miracles that covered Rabi's village, the blessing that
descended upon Madame, the arrival of the Holy Hero, the Minister of
Euritheis, the salvation of the slum residents, the appearance of an ancient city,
the disappearance of the mountain range and its connection to the sea, the
appearance of a coal mine that produces black stones. Each and every event
was a major one, but since they all happened at the same time, it was almost a
joke.
Of course, to Tahara, it was all just a stage that his boss had prepared exactly as
he intended. He also felt a sense of exhilaration, as if all the landmines he had
steadily prepared and buried had suddenly erupted. Even from Tahara's point
of view, it must have been difficult to prepare the stage so carefully. As always,
he cracked jokes, never forgetting to unknowingly corner the Demon Lord.
《What a timing, to bring everything together here. I know you're a master at
setting the stage, but are you aiming for a perfect game this time too?》
(What kind of timing is this? It's not perfect, it's a cold game!)
From the man's point of view, he had no idea what event was going on, and
had become a pathetic prayer man who only wished for the rain to cancel the
event. The Demon Lord tried to use the word angel to gauge Tahara's reaction.
《Summoning an angel certainly does have a strong impact.》
《Haha! This is the perfect way to end the game!》
The way he said it was like adding udon or porridge to a pot at the end, makes
the Demon Lord want to hold his head in his hands. This man said he was going
to summon his sister, and never said a word about summoning an angel.
《But angels.》
《Chief, she's an archangel. There's no way you'd make that mistake twice,
right?》
(What do you mean, an archangel, you idiot! If you go that far, being a siscon is
a disease!)
The Demon Lord deeply believes that there is a fine line between a fool and a
genius. At the very least, Manami has no powers, she is just an ordinary
person, and is definitely not an angel. However, it was himself who set up
Tahara like this, and no one was to blame. This is truly what is called personal
responsibility. Tahara spoke eloquently, ignoring the Demon Lord's distress.
Perhaps because he will soon be able to meet his beloved sister, his excitement
was abnormal.
《Director, in my opinion, an archangel is someone with a halo like White-
chan, but my Manami is just too much.》
Tahara continued his ridiculous nonsense, but when he heard a certain word,
an electric current ran through the Demon Lord's head. Finally, he had found a
clue to get through this situation.
《You're right. Let's set the best stage for welcoming Manami.》
《Aha, okay...?》
Tahara was momentarily confused by his powerful reply, but his joy at being
able to meet his sister soon was probably taking precedence. With an excited
voice, they discussed the date and other matters. After finishing the call, the
Demon Lord returned to the room with a fearless smile on his face.
"Maou, what's wrong?"
"Haha! I should have made an angel... {Item Creation: Angel Wings}"
Out of the pitch-black space, the angel wings often seen in online games were
pulled out. This is an accessory that was paired with the Fallen Angel Wings at
the previous venue, and is a useless piece of armor with a defensive power of
2.
Like the angel halo he gave to White, this is nothing more than a fashion item.
The venue used to be overflowing with items like this. In terms of the setting, it
emits a holy aura, but it has no particular significance. It even includes lines
that reflect a completely cocky attitude, as if they are looking down on the
world, such as "You should be able to fly in the sky." This was a very rough and
haphazard setting, written by Akira Ono while simply listening to that kind of
Japanese music at the time.
"Maou, right now, your soul has such a murky color."
"Haha, I'm supposed to be a fallen angel, so it's only natural that I'm murky!"
"You've become so open-minded that you've actually become more
transparent. In a way, it's amazing."
"Ah, ha! Well, let's get that squirrel to play a part!"
The Demon Lord, determined, walks out. An unprecedented stage that would
deceive the whole world was about to begin.
釣り馬鹿日誌 (The Fishing Fool's Diary)
4
Abalones are a type of marine mollusk
Hearing this, Hammer also takes out the book from his pocket and turns the
pages. It's a precious book that was entrusted to him when he was held captive
in the Demon Realm. The author of this book, Merlin, wrote down his
experiences in this book, and Hammer reads it almost every night.
"There's no such sea written in this book either."
"After all, it's the sea that the fallen angels created. Maybe we should look into
the Bible and myths that contain legends."
The two were talking very seriously, but unfortunately it was all off the mark.
This sea is the former venue and is outside the laws of nature. Normally, the
amount of plankton in the sea changes depending on the temperature, and the
seafood that can be caught changes with the season, but this sea has no such
rules. The only thing that matters is whether you have the "Fishing" skill or not.
Perhaps to cheer up the depressed Sam, Hammer grabs the oar and rows
powerfully.
"Sam-san, why don't we go near that white tower? It feels like the current has
changed, or maybe the mood of the fish changes.”
"Haha! I guess the fish are in a good mood. Yes, that's right. Let's go!"
"Yes!"
Sam regains his composure and glances at the lighthouse, then smiles back.
Hammer rows vigorously, increasing his speed. From the sidelines, the boat
looks as if it is gliding over the waves. Even Sam, who has lived by the sea for
many years, is astonished at the incredible speed.
“Hammer-san, do you have experience as a rower?"
"No, I was a sailor once, but I could only do odd jobs."
Hammer said, laughing, but the ship cut through the sea surface at a
frightening speed, reaching the lighthouse at a speed that was hard to believe.
"Hammer-san, you are.”
"Now, Sam-san, concentrate on fishing. I'll prepare the bait."
Hammer was rummaging through the bait box at the bottom of the boat when
he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up wondering what was going on and
saw Sam handing him the fishing rod with a smile.
Huh? I, well, I don't have any fishing experience.”
"It's fine, everyone is a beginner at first."
"A slow-witted man like me, who can catch a agile fish."
"Well, well, I'll test it out. My father once told me a bedtime story. Far north of
this continent, there is a land of tests, a sea of tests."
"Test...?"
"They say that if you don't have some special power, you won't get anything
there and you won't be able to survive. In Euritheis , they used to threaten
disobedient children by saying they would abandon them there."
Sam laughed nostalgically and attached some fish bait to the hook. Then, he
placed both hands on Hammer, who was timidly holding the fishing rod, and
cast the hook into the distance.
"Huh? Ah, well? Ah, what should I do!?"
"Haha, let's wait patiently. Fishing has long been said to be a game of
perseverance."
"S-Sam-san! I've been feeling like I've been pulled by something for a while
now!"
“What?”
The wooden float was going up and down violently, and it was obvious that
something had bitten on it. While supporting the distraught Hammer, Sam
pulled up the rod in one go. A small fish had bitten on the tip of the hook, and
Sam frantically reeled in the line.
"I caught it... I caught it!?"
"Wow, this is a really small fish, can you eat it?"
Perhaps Hammer was so engrossed that he was more interested in whether
this small fish was edible than that he had caught it, so he opened a book and
started looking it up.
"Oh, Sam-san! This is a fish called sea bitterling. It says it's edible."
Hammer was smiling happily, but Sam couldn't care less about that. The fact
that he caught it was a big deal, not whether it was edible or not.
“…Well, you did it, Hammer-san! You won the sea of trials!"
"What? No, I think this is just some amateur luck thing."
"It's fine, it's fine! Come on, let's keep fishing!"
"Well, I've already used up all my luck with that... Wait, Sam-san?!"
Without a second's hesitation, Sam made him grab the rod and cast the hook in
a spectacular arc. In that moment, there was a bite.
“What, a bite! Hammer, pull!"
"Y-yes!"
From then on, it was a picture-perfect catch. As if the poor catches up until
now were a lie, they caught a flounder, goby, plaice, sea bass, and more one
after another, and the boat suddenly started to smell like fish. Sam laughed out
loud as he put them into a barrel of water, blowing the air away.
"Ah ha ha! I can't believe it! Hammer-san, what a man you are!"
"Well, I don't know what's going on."
Hammer looks confused and his eyes wander like a suspicious person. Unlike
Sam, who is overjoyed, Hammer doesn't quite understand the situation. The
hopeless poor catches in this sea were not a familiar topic to him, as he was a
civil engineer in the village. Sam's excitement is unstoppable, while Hammer is
confused.
"You must have lived on the sea, not on land! Now, let's try the sea by free
diving! Let's challenge!"
"Free diving?! Ah, I've never even swam before, Give me a break!"
"I'll teach you step by step! Come on, take off your clothes! A seaman doesn't
need clothes! Let's cast off!"
"Eeeh!"
Sam suddenly changed his attitude and took out a spare pair of briefs and
forced Hammer to change. What emerged there was an unbearable sight of a
chubby middle-aged man in just his briefs.
"What are you planning to do with me? Where on earth are you taking me?"
Hammer covered his body with both hands and trembled like a virgin, but
there was nothing cute about that appearance. Sam ignored his reaction,
picked up Hammer with ease, and mercilessly tossed him into the sea.
"Ahhh! The sea is calling us! Let's dive!"
"Nooooooooo!"
From there, Sam's intense training began. He drilled into Hammer, who didn't
even know how to swim, how to move his body in the water, how to breathe,
and the basic crawl, breaststroke, and treading water.
Sam had originally taught his two daughters how to behave in the water, and
was adept at praising others with exaggerated gestures and bringing out their
strengths. Meanwhile, Hammer, who is usually clumsy, quickly absorbed what
he was taught. About an hour after the training began, he had mastered the
basics of swimming.
"Hammer-san has good muscles! Let's dive next!"
"Y-yes!"
Sam dived into the sea with a magnificent posture, and Hammer followed suit
and dived into the sea. Various fish swam in the clear water, and sometimes
even beautiful schools5 of fish could be seen. Crabs, shrimp, octopuses, and
other creatures can be seen hiding in the shadows of the reef. Indeed,
everything that came into view was a treasure trove of seafood.
"S-Sam-san, are you okay!?"
"Well, I'm ashamed. I shouldn't make the student feel uncomfortable."
Sam answers while breathing heavily, but the time a person can dive is limited,
and even an experienced diver can only dive for about five minutes. Sam is an
expert at free diving, but even so, he's out of breath when he comes out of the
5
A group of fish is known as school (The more you know)
water. What's strange is that Hammer is calm as if nothing happened. Finally
catching his breath, Sam puts a big burlap sack on his shoulder and dives again.
"I've figured out where the prey is. Hammer-san, let's dive deeper next!"
"I got it!"
The two dive into the sea again, diving deeper and deeper. As Sam commands,
Hammer picks up the prey one after another and throws them into the burlap
sack. The prey is always hiding wherever Sam points, and his accuracy is like
magic. Most of the bag is buried, and the two finally surface.
"Phew! What an incredible achievement! It seems like you can grab the prey!"
"Why can't the others grab it? I have no idea what's going on."
"If this is the sea where you're being tested, then you're qualified!"
"I’m qualified...? someone like me?"
Hammer was stunned, but Sam didn't care about the reasoning. For a
fisherman like him, his entire life depends on whether he can catch a fish or
not. The fact that he had to continue to go for fishing after spending so many
days like that was starting to be a big problem.
"Thanks to Hammer-san, I was finally able to repay him, Please come over to
my place tonight! Let's celebrate with my wife and daughter!"
"Thank you so much for taking care of me, a slow-witted guy like me."
Sam patted the tearful Hammer on the shoulder and continued to dive
tirelessly. By dusk, the burlap sacks were filled with fish, making for a picture-
perfect catch. The bag was filled with scallops, clams, abalone, oysters, turban
shells, and ark shells, and it was quite heavy, but to Sam, this weight was the
greatest reward.
"Now, let's return to land! Hammer-san, this is your triumphant return!"
"A triumphant return, That's an exaggeration."
Sam raised the red flag indicating a big catch and shouted in an excited voice.
Hammer had been living a life that was completely unrelated to the suffering of
the fishermen, so he couldn't really feel it. However, as they approached land,
the Islands Union ships started to make a fuss when they saw the flag.
"Hey! Did you catch anything with that flag!?"
"Euri’s fishermen, the big catch flag is sacred. I hope you're not waving it as a
joke!?"
There was a hint of impatience and anger in his voice. From their perspective, it
was unthinkable that someone else would reel in the fish instead of them. As a
man who lived on the same sea, Sam probably understood their feelings all too
well.
He didn't try to be proud, but just quietly pointed his thumb up. The other
boats had heard the commotion, and one after another they began rowing
towards the boat the two were on. The timid Hammer felt like he was going to
die, and he shrunk down, expecting to hear more shouting. It was always when
he made a mistake that a large crowd would gather around him, and
afterwards there would be a storm of ridicule and abuse.
"Hammer-san, please look up. It seems the General Manager is here to greet
us."
"The General Manager!? Oh, we've done something really bad.”
Sam rowed the boat directly to the beach where Tahara was, but the man
called the General Manager couldn't wait any longer and ran over to the boat,
not minding his wet feet. Tahara, knee-deep in seawater, put his hands on the
side of the boat and showed a look of joy.
"Hey, hey, hey! You caught some fish! Finally... Finally!"
"Yes. Hammer-san here did it!"
Sam pushed Hammer forward and slapped him hard on the back to encourage
him. Hammer almost jumped up in pain, but timidly managed to squeeze out a
cry.
"Um, I was so focused… that I..."
Tahara jumped onto the boat and inspected each of the seafood with a sharp
gaze. He was probably checking to see if it was from the Great Empire. Neither
Tahara nor the Demon Lord were looking for an ordinary fish. Tahara's gaze as
he appraised the items was so serious that Hammer gradually lowered his head
and closed his mouth, and looked like a prisoner who is about to be sentenced
to death. Tahara had finally finished his inspection, and for the first time, he
turned his eyes to Hammer.
"is it you..."
A heavy thud reverberated from deep in Hammer's chest, and his heart began
to beat faster. The sound was so loud it felt like it was ringing right next to his
ear, and it felt like it was going to explode at any moment.
"You lived up to the Chief’s expectations, didn't you? You held your ground,
didn’t you, old man?"
"Ah..."
Hammer was stunned by that smile and the words he had spoken, but then his
vision became distorted. Because before he knew it, tears had gathered in the
corners of his eyes and overflowed. In contrast to Hammer, who was shaking
and crying without knowing why, Tahara laughed loudly and put his arm around
Hammer's shoulders.
"Hahaha! Who would cry after doing a good job? Thanks to you, I don't have to
make Manami sad!"
"Uh, well..."
When he thought about it, it had been a long time since he was praised.
Hammer bowed his head at the warm feeling that spread in his chest, but
Tahara also wanted to cry.
"When I thought about Manami's nutritional balance, I haven't been able to
sleep properly these past few days. I couldn't even serve delicious seafood on
the table, so I was almost becoming a useless brother!"
Tahara was also deeply moved, and looked up to the sky, wiping away his tears
with his arm. This was due to his pathological behavior when it came to cases
involving Manami, but those who knew his usual nonchalant attitude would
have been shocked. Seeing Tahara like that, the gathered fishermen whispered
to each other.
"That General Manager."
"The Archangel who will be summoned this time, must be in a very important
position."
Tahara didn't seem to hear the voices around him, as he smiled brightly this
time. His gaze was directed at the owner's room on the top floor of the
glittering casino.
"Oh, the Chief is looking this way. Thanks to you, I no longer need be hanging
on by a thread."
"Huh, the Fallen Angel!?"
hearing Tahara's words, everyone hurriedly got off the boat and lined up on the
beach. Tension suddenly spread on the beach, and the Demon Lord descended,
scattering black feathers.
He must have been quick to hear the commotion. In fact, is also possible that
he had been staring and drooling with anticipation, from the moment a red flag
was raised on the ship.
However, without showing any sign of it, the Demon Lord looks at Tahara and
asks how it went.
"Chief, you're right... This belongs to the venue. Hama-chan, take care of it!"
Tahara pushed Hammer out with a smile, and the Demon Lord nodded. With
each step, the black presence took to approached Hammer, it was filling him
with a sense of tension so intense he wanted to die, and cowered his head, but
someone grabbed him by the chin and forced him to lift his head. Before he
realized it, the Demon Lord's face was very close. It was as if an egocentric
gentleman was attacking, but his opponent was a chubby old man. After taking
a good look at Hammer's face, the Demon Lord spoke some strange words.
"You were the final deciding factor, as you were picked up by Akane. You were a
kind of treasure after all."
"Treasure...?? Well, it was thanks to Sam-san help that I didn't have anything."
The Demon Lord narrowed his eyes at Sam, who was kneeling next to Hammer.
He must have remembered the day they met at the arena and the lively sisters.
"It's been a while since the arena. Are those sisters doing well?"
"Thanks to you. My daughters talk about nothing but King-sama, no, Lucifer-
sama, every day."
"I see. Please continue to assist this man."
"Leave it to me, Lucifer-sama!"
The Demon Lord thought that calling him King would have been better, but
with the seafood he had been longing for now in sight, Tahara made a cheerful
suggestion.
"Chief, let's have a pre-celebration today! Let's have some seafood!"
"Yes, call the hero too. Take this opportunity to drag him out of that rundown
hut!"
"Haha! That stiff guy will be amazed if he eats this."
The Demon Lord was so concerned about the hero that he even said something
petty like that. He then put a large gold coin into each of Hammer and Sam's
hands. With one coin, you could easily live a year's worth of leisure. The two of
them looked shocked, but to the Demon Lord, it was just a foreign currency
whose value he didn't really understand.
The Demon Lord grabbed Hammer by both shoulders and gave him a gentle
smile he had never shown before. It was a very natural smile that came from
heart.
"I have high hopes for your work. I won't be cheap with your reward."
"Y-yes! From today, I'm going to be a fishing freak at the sea!"
The Demon Lord was about to burst out laughing at his words, but Hammer's
eyes finally filled with tears, and the room became sentimental. Tahara
nodded, as if he was thinking about Manami, and Sam also cried as if overcome
with emotion.
"Then, Tahara. I'll leave the preparations to you."
"Understood! It's been so long since I've had such delicious fish! I'm so
excited!"
As if fleeing from the heavy atmosphere, the Demon Lord left behind a smile
before disappearing with a full teleportation. Tahara, too, vanished with a full
teleportation, to continue his preparations.
After the two of them had disappeared, the only sound on the beach was the
quite sound of the waves, but it was the cunning Cake who changed the
atmosphere. she must have heard the commotion and waited for the right
moment.
"Uncle Hammer, isn't that amazing? To receive praise from the Demon Lord
himself!"
Cake grabbed both of Hammer's hands and said cunningly, her eyes watering.
Hammer, who has no immunity to women, was flustered and quickly dropped
to his knees.
" P-Princess, such flattering words for someone like me.”
"Ever since we first met in the Demon Realm, I've felt that you have some
special powers. I may not look like this, but I have a good eye for people."
Of course, this was a big lie. Cake was just looking at Hammer's chubby figure,
as if she was looking at a fat pig, hoping that he would not starve to death
anytime soon. However, the smile that Cake showed on the surface was only
cute, but to deal with people like hammer this was more than enough. For
Hammer, who is not used to being praised, this must have been an
unexpectedly happy time.
On the other hand, there is a shadow that looks at this happy place from afar
with resentment. She is a bratty girl who hangs around Hammer every day and
abuses him.
"Even though she's just a small fry, I can't forgive her for that, It's absolutely
unacceptable!"
The brat bit her handkerchief in frustration, but the drunk man called out to
her. Although she has a terrible personality, she looks like a beautiful girl with
twin tails.
"Hey little girl, let's have a drink together. You're dressed so flashy, because
you’re inviting me isn’t it”
“Don't talk to me, you poor bastard. I'll kill you, you bastard.”
"You're disgusting”
"I'm not interested in someone who doesn't have a weak aura. Get lost."
"Ah, is she crazy?"
The drunk man walked away, shocked, but the brat's burning gaze held
Hammer in place. There was even something obsessive in her eyes.
"I can't forgive this, I'll definitely make you a small fry again!"
A completely meaningless fight was about to break out, straying from the main
story, but Hammer had no way of knowing.
---That night---
All the invited guests were gathered on the beach and an unplanned barbecue
party was held. Of course, in order to prevent the Holy Hero from escaping, the
Demon Lord sent nine children as emissaries to the other party, and creating a
situation where it would be difficult for the other party to refuse.
Even though his brain is usually so thoughtless, it seemed like an endless
supply of cunning ideas flowed from it. At the venue, Ren was standing next to
Hero, and on the other side, Kondo was standing with a smile on his face,
sandwiching him between them.
"They're done. Please enjoy."
"Thank you."
Hero’s eyes widened at the deliciousness of the grilled scallops Ren offered
him, but other dishes such as abalone and ark shell sashimi were lined up one
after the other. Everything was delicious, and Hero was dizzy with how
delicious it was, it’s no wonder, since he usually ate the same food as the poor.
He was very different from the person who built the sea for his own desires.
Looking at the coast that is now called the Sea of Trials, Hero murmurs with
deep emotion.
"This should be done by Dharma, No, Hammer-san."
Hero remembers Hammer, who was scolded and kicked wherever he went.
Now he's the man of the moment, so you never know what's going to happen
in life.
"So, where is he? Is he the star of the night?"
“Master invited him, but he was too timid. He's having a small party in the
village with a family he knows."
"I see. That's just like him."
Hammer's honest, yet charming face came to mind, and Hero’s expression
softened. Seeing such a change, Ren continues to offer Suzuki's yuzu pepper
grilled dish and fritters. The casino there were an abundance of seasonings and
alcohol despite lacking ingredients, and Ren used those to cook.
She has the skill of "cooking" and can handle all the ingredients at the venue.
The Demon Lord must have ordered Ren to entertain because he thought he
could get a hold of the hero's stomach. By the way, Ren also supports Hero’s
strategy. In terms of personality, he is far more stable than her colleagues, and
she probably even thinks he can be trusted.
Kondo, who rarely left the room, also talked to Hero about this and that, but it
was all just idle chatter and there was no productivity. Not only were there
fresh seafood on the grill, but for some reason there were also cans of oden. Of
course, Kondo had bought them there. There are also cans labeled "curry
udon" and "ramen.".
Even Hero had a hard time dealing with Kondo, who arbitrarily decided that the
hero was a yakuza and treated him with a sense of closeness as if he were his
own kind.
"Even if you say this."
He tried not to look, but all the cans had cute characters drawn on them, and
the act of heating them on the grill confused Hero’s mind. Ren gives him a cold
stare at his selfish behavior that seems to be ruining the purpose of the party.
"Kondo-san, we don't need that kind of thing at tonight's party. Please put it
away."
"you have no idea. This is more suited to Hero-san's taste."
"Please keep your silly fantasies in the room."
"I'm not joking! I'm serious!"
Perhaps thinking that the hero's seat was lively, the Demon Lord sipped his
beer with satisfaction. Azur was serving here, and he was managing the place
with impressive manners.
"Azur, what do you think of the hero's reaction?"
"I will answer. Judging from the other party's reaction, I think they are satisfied
with tonight's main dish."
"Hmm, That's a bit vague. What's missing?"
"I will answer. If you are entertaining a noble person at a banquet, a course
with a meat focus is necessary."
The Demon Lord was frustrated upon hearing this. Normally, the main dish at a
banquet is meat, and a party with only seafood is rare.
However, there is no meat at all. The previous venue had an area called the
"food storage" filled with ingredients from all over the world, but there were
no areas that resembled farms or anything related to meat.
The conditions for setting up a food storage are currently unknown, and as
things stand, there seems to be no way to obtain high-quality beef, pork,
poultry, or any game meat.
"Meat, huh... Azure, do you have any idea?"
" I will answer. He's very stubborn, but apparently there is a farm in the center
of the Holy Light Kingdom where a meat master works."
"I see. Was that farm delivering meat to Donna's mansion?"
" I will answer. Apparently, my master ordered the meat master to provide
meat regularly, but he was refusing to listen."
"Oh, he seems like a man of great character. Interesting."
The Demon Lord grinned, and Azur bowed his head in silence, He thought that
the meat master would probably be lured out by any means possible.
While the party was going on, at the village hut-----
Hammer was also invited to a small party held at Sam's house. The Sam family
was originally supposed to be given a room in the casino, but they were so
blown away by the glittering golden temple-like structure that they were given
a single-story house in the village. Considering the fact that they used to sleep
in the slums, this life in a single-story house is like heaven.
"Come on, Hammer-san! Let's drink! It doesn't matter how drunk we get
today!"
"Y-yes. but we're going to the sea tomorrow."
" As for tomorrow, we can think about it tomorrow! You all, look! At these large
gold coins!"
Looking at the two large gold coins lined up, the sisters cheer. They haven't
forgotten the image of the Demon Lord scattering the gold coins like beans.
"You got it from the King-sama!? I can't believe it!"
"Dad, it's amazing! It's shiny!"
Warin and Urin each look at the coin with dazzling eyes. Illuminated by a pale
fluorescent light, it brightens the entire room and brings peace to the family's
days. Sam places both hands together as if it were a god or Buddha, and prays
with a serious expression. He then turns to Hammer, bows his head, and begins
to pray.
"Great light... no, Hammer-sama, please give me the blessings of the sea again
tomorrow!"
“S- Stop it! I don't want you to bow down to me!"
Hammer is confused, but Sam is serious. To conquer that sea, Hammer's power
is essential. Seeing this, the sisters look back and forth between the coin and
Hammer, and join in with them in their prayers.
"Hammer-san, please take care of my father! I want some new clothes! And
some shoes!"
"Hammer-sama, I want some sweets."
The sisters were taking advantage of the confusion to say whatever they
wanted, but Hammer felt like he wanted to hold his head in his hands. If he
thought about it carefully, there was no guarantee that he would be able to
catch anything tomorrow. If he still couldn't catch anything, he might be
crucified as a retaliation. Hammer, who was in anguish, heard the sound of
hands clapping and looked up to see his mother, Marin, coming out of the
kitchen in the back.
"Look, Hammer-san is in trouble. Stop saying stupid things and bring the food."
"Yes!"
The family and Hammer had a small party, but there were also some who were
in a difficult position. There were 100 fishermen from the Islands Union. As
people of the sea, they were expected to do well, but they had lost confidence
because they had not achieved any results. They were given apartments in the
same village hut, but the atmosphere was like a funeral.
"Why can't I catch anything."
"All the knowledge I've accumulated and the skills I've honed are now useless."
They had tried every possible way, but it had all been in vain. To top it off, a
land-dweller suddenly appeared and caught a mountain of fish, which was
unbearable.
To put it bluntly, their pride was in pieces. In such a heavy atmosphere in the
apartment, a savior appeared. The savior was holding dozens of fish tied with
rope, and to their surprise, the fish basket attached to her waist even contained
shrimp. Seeing this, the fishermen went quiet for a moment, but the next
moment there was a huge explosion.
"Eagle-chan, are you serious?"
"Ohhhh! Fish! Fish! There are mullets, sea bass, and even crucian carp!"
"There are shrimp in this fish basket! Eagle-chan, how did you do that!?"
Surrounded by everyone, Eagle's face was cramped, but it was no big deal.
Hawks naturally prefer to prey on fish. They also hunt anything, including
crustaceans, reptiles, and mammals. Hawks soaring through the sky have no
natural enemies, and are even called the kings of the sky.
"The fishing didn't go well, but, well as usual."
What Eagle did should be called hunting, not fishing. She was simply fully
demonstrating the abilities that hawks are naturally endowed with. She
probably won't catch a fish even if she holds a fishing rod, but "hunting" is a
different story.
"So Eagle-chan can hunt fish!"
"I can finally see the light!"
The fishermen were making a fuss as if they had found a ray of hope, but
Eagle's expression was grim. She had already reached her limit.
"No matter how hard I or that person try, we won't be able to catch enough to
fill everyone's stomachs."
The fishermen who had been making a fuss shut up at her words. No matter
how hard an individual tries, the catch is limited, and it is impossible to meet
the demand of the exploding population.
If word spreads, purchase orders will come not only from Rabi Village, but from
all over the Holy Light Kingdom. The wave will surely spread outside the
country eventually. All the seafood is set to have the best taste and quality in
the world. Once people get to know the taste, the seafood on this continent
will be divided into two categories, those from Rabi Village and those from
elsewhere.
However, at this stage, the means to obtain them are very limited. Even if Eagle
and Hammer work themselves to the bone, the amount they can obtain is only
negligible. The fishermen hold their heads and complain in vain.
"Even if you say that, there's nothing we can do."
In front of the disheartened fishermen, Eagle points to a container lying in the
corner of the room. It was an octopus pot that was familiar to them.
"Um, Eagle-chan. What's wrong with the octopus pot?"
"For example, We could all set up an octopus pot and we can have that person
collect it all."
"We set it up, and he’ll do the collection?"
This is a very straightforward idea. If we can't touch them, we can leave it to
someone who can. Eagle then points to the nets piled up in the corner of the
room.
"That person probably doesn't know about nets. But if we all set them up and
pull them together with him, maybe we can catch something with the nets."
"I see, so you set up the nets here too."
There are countless fishing methods that use nets, but none of them can be
done by an individual. Longline fishing, bottom trawling, fixed nets, purse
seine, gill nets, drift nets, whatever you do, you need a lot of manpower, and
the right knowledge and experience.
"It's worth a try."
"Y-Yeah! Now, get the pot here!”
Some of the impatient people ran out with pots in hand, while the others
looked at the pile of nets. Depending on the net you set, the target fish species
will change, and the time and manpower required will also change.
"Let's try a gill net first."
This is a fishing method in which a net is hung vertically with a float on top and
a weight attached to the bottom. Gill nets have a long history and their
structure is simple. It would be perfect to try as an experiment.
"You guys, let's go!"
“Ohh!”
The eyes of the sunken fishermen lit up like fire, and they all took off running
like beasts. And so, without Hammer's knowledge, a big commotion was
starting to happen.
Eagle, was the only one left, looking up at the night sky and she opens her
mouth apologetically.
"I think it was Hammer-san, Sorry for dragging you into this."
Hammer has been causing a lot of trouble, but maybe this is just his nature or
something. Either way, the battle at sea....the Tsuribaka Nisshi6 has only just
begun.

降臨祭(Advent Festival)
–Holy Light Country, Rabi's Village–
Something strange was happening offshore, where it had been quiet till now.
The ships that had been floating in the sea as if they were scattered here and
there were moving like one living thing. Some of them were spreading their
nets over a wide area, and some were moving in circles with two ships.
They were probably trying out a fishing method called drift net or purse seine.
Sam also dived into the sea and swam through the nets, checking for schools of
fish. They pulled up the set nets when the time was right, but this was no
longer something that could be done by one person alone. Dozens of
fishermen pulled up the nets, in sync with each other and with their faces
flushed red.
Hammer watched the series of movements with a serious expression. The
people of the Islands Union had called him at Eagle's suggestion. At first,
Hammer struggled to learn the unfamiliar teamwork, but once he got the hang
of it. His body moved as if his usual appearance on land was a lie compared to
how he behaves on sea.
Even though he's on the sea, his torso doesn't even waver, as if he's rooted in
the earth. The people of the Islands Union, who had been looking at Hammer
with suspicion, seemed surprised by this. No matter how you look at him, his
behavior is that of a man of the sea.
"What, so are you a person from our side?"
"Ou-Our Side, I don't have much experience swimming."
Men who live in the harsh sea must have a strong sense of pride. This is true
not only of the people of the Islands Union, but also of fishermen from other
regions and Sam.
"It's a waste to leave you on land. You're a person who should live here."
"U-Well... I-I'll try my best!"
"Haha! Good spirit! But it was a miss again. Next time, join us over there."
"Y-yes!"
Hammer then boarded the boat with the drift net and stared at the surface of
the sea. His eyesight must have improved abnormally, because he could clearly
see Sam swimming and drawing the schools of fish to him.
"Wow, that's amazing! How did you do that!"
"Ahh? What's wrong?"
"Sam-san, is guiding the schools of fish into the net."
"Haha! So that macho guy was actually a mermaid princess?"
Those sarcastic words caused a big roar of laughter on the boat, but when Sam
emerged from the water and stuck his thumb out, the laughter suddenly
stopped all at once. Hammer also saw this and shouted out loud, which was
unusual for him.
"Everyone, let's pull it in! There's an incredible number of fish in the net!"
Everyone looked at each other in shock at his words, but they all nodded. Since
it was these two who had caught a big catch just the other day, they felt that
they had no choice but to go along with it.
"Okay, let's pull it up! Everyone, take the net!"
"Ohhhh!"
Everyone's faces turned demonic, and they all started pulling up the net. The
weight felt completely different from all the previous attempts.
"Uh, oh... hey, what is this!?"
"What an incredible hit! There they are! Pull them up!"
Hammer kept in sync with those around him and pulled the net powerfully
while shouting out loud. His strength was truly that of a hundred men.
Normally, it's difficult to brace yourself on a rocking boat and pull the net, but
Hammer's strength was that of a seasoned fisherman. Soon, the net was pulled
up with a large catch of fish entangled in it, and a huge cheer erupted on the
boat.
"Yes, Yes! They're finally in the net!"
"Heh, heh. Finally, finally..."
The net was chock-full of migratory salmon and trout, and it looked like they
could catch more than a hundred in one pull. Everyone hugged each other and
rejoiced at the spectacular sight, but Sam regained his composure first and
said.
"Let's finish it off quickly. We'll have to drain the blood."
"Yeah, that's right!"
"This is no time to be happy! Call the others!"
As the offshore was engulfed in a battlefield-like commotion, a great
commotion was also occurring on land.
People from all over the continent were flocking to Rabi's village. Everywhere
you looked, there were people, people, people - swarms of people. To make
matters worse, some people had climbed onto the roofs and even into the
trees. It was a massive crowd.
The crowd's attention was directed towards the golden temple at the very back
of the village, in the center. The casino constantly emitted an intense, vivid light
that seemed to slice through the dry air, asserting its unique presence, but
what's more now, an archangel descended on the roof which was just too
much to handle. It was truly a once-in-a-millennium event.
Nobles and commoners from all over the Holy Light Kingdom flocked to the
event, eager to witness what would become a myth for generations to come.
To add to the excitement, even the usual partitions were ignored on this day,
and stalls were set up in every area of the village. The stalls sold not only food
and drink, but also clothes and daily necessities at low prices, and the place
was in full festival mode.
Surprisingly, on this day countless red lanterns had been set up connecting the
shops and houses. These were naturally fixtures of the hot springs inn, but
some of the nobles seemed to find the light elegant and even enthusiastic to
copy it. On the street corner, musicians are playing music and clowns are
performing. Needless to say, all of this is the work of Tahara, who is ecstatic to
see his sister. He himself is in a good mood, and is in charge of the festival.
Tahara had a mountain of work to do, such as arranging the stalls, organizing
personnel, procuring supplies, securing the roads, inviting key people, and
guarding the village, but this time, with Ren, who is skilled in practical matters,
they all went smoothly. After patrolling through all the area’s Tahara sends a
“MESSAGE” to the Demon Lord.
《Chief, I just want to ask again, are the prices of the food at the stalls really
okay? They're practically free.》
《I don't mind. This is a special occasion, Manami would be happier if there
were lots of smiling people than a row of gloomy faces.》
《Y-That's right, Yeah! Since it's come to this, I might as well be generous!》
On this day, all the goods lined up at the stalls were priced at one copper coin.
Naturally, there's no way to make a profit at that price, but the village has
agreed to cover all losses, and every shopkeeper sold their goods one after
another gladly, Yelling until their voice sounded rough and harsh, due to a sore
throat from all the shouting.
From the buyer's perspective, you can get anything you want for just one
copper coin, so a buying spree is inevitable. Expensive silk clothes and shoes
that people normally can't afford were selling like hotcakes, and many families
were buying hats and bags in bulk, so the village was overflowing with people
and goods. The children also seem to be bragging about buying toys that they
normally can't afford.
The Demon Lord, whether he knew about this scene or not, spoke calmly.
《You can always get money. Serve all the alcohol you've collected from the
neighbourhood to the people in the village hut for free. You can do whatever
you like with the food you've collected.》
《You still don't hesitate to give money, do you? I wonder how much money
you spent on behind-the-scenes operations when you were in the Great
Empire.》
《One thing remains the same from the past to the present. It's not money
from my wallet.》
《Hahaha! Of course it is!》
Tahara laughs out loud at the Demon Lord's remark In fact, there is a short
story that tells of the fierce power struggle within the great empire, in this
game of musical chairs, large sums of money were moving about for any illicit
operations, all of which was financed by public funds or illegally obtained
funds.
"Hey, you guys! Get a wagon and go scoop up all the alcohol in the area at
three times the price. Tell the store owners to pay the craftsmen extra. At this
rate, we'll run out of alcohol soon."
Serving alcohol from the casino would cost nothing, but that's not healthy
consumption. They're buying it from stores that sell alcohol, and they're also
trying to throw money around here. This will bring in a lot of cash to the stores
that sell alcohol, and the farmers and craftsmen who make the raw materials
for alcohol will also get money.
They spend the money that has come in, and someone else will get rich. It's a
very simple form, but this is the basic circulation of money. If someone
somewhere hoards money and stops using it, the circulation will stagnate and
eventually lead to bankruptcy. One of the causes of a recession is not buying
things and not spending money.
On the other hand, the Demon Lord, who has come to dominate the entirety of
the Holy Light Country, has no hesitation in spending money, perhaps due to
his natural character. This is probably because this man has no interest in
money, but in something else. Moreover, he doesn't seem to be interested in
the money he extorted from the noble's rich kids.
Following the Demon Lord's instructions, Tahara also proceeds with the
arrangements to carry alcohol to the village hut. At the same time, food is
being loaded onto a cart to be distributed, when Ren passes by with a large
number of disciplinary committee members.
"Hey, Ren. Is everything okay?"
"No problems at all. The crowed is full with voices praising the Master."
"Well, that's what happens when you hold a festival of this scale. Also, sorry,
but could you carry this to the village hut?"
There was a mountain of food and alcohol. Naturally, these were also part of
the supplies extorted from the noble’s faction. To borrow the words of the
Demon Lord, this is someone else's money, not mine.
"This is quite a lot, but it's master's…"
"Don't worry. I've got the Chief's orders to give it to the people in the village
huts."
"I see, My master's eyes are always on those who suffer in poverty."
"Oh, right? Well, I suppose so too. Anyway, make sure you tell that stubborn
guy that it’s a gesture from the Chief, alright?"
"Yes, I will preach the master's compassion and mercy to the people."
"Aha, Yeah, sorry, but I'm counting on you."
Tahara's reaction was a little shaky, but Ren did not seem to mind and
immediately headed for the village hut with the wagon. Just as Tahara had said,
she would no doubt exaggerate a little to convey Master's love and mercy to
Hero and the slum residents.
After all, the village hut's capacity was already filling up at a rapid rate. The
breakdown was about 2,000 slum residents brought from Euritheis; 400 people
who had been freed from the slave market in the Demon Realm; and 100
people from the Island Union.
At this stage, the hut was already half full, but workers who had heard rumors
of the hut were flocking in, and Ren was extremely busy making arrangements.
Soon the hut's population would reach its full capacity of 5,000-person.
To supply the amount of food and alcohol, that could reach each and every
individual living in there, was no small feat. And to do all of this calmly without
even batting an eyebrow, it is a moment when exaggeration was no longer felt
like exaggeration.
Meanwhile, in the owner's room looking down on them...
The so-called being full of love and mercy had been drinking since the morning.
The Demon Lord had set up various devices on the roof and was ready. Seeing
him drinking like crazy from morning, Aku looked longingly, while Tron looked
at him with a blank stare.
"Well, Maou-sama, aren't you drinking too much...?"
"I don't care, I don't care. How can you get through this nonsense without
drinking?"
"Maou is a hopeless drunk right now."
"Look down. Those guys have been drinking since the morning. Listen, red
lights aren't scary if we all cross together."
"Maou is talking nonsense again."
At this point, it seems like he's just desperate. From this man's point of view, he
probably thinks that he would need the help of alcohol to perform such a
ridiculous ritual like summoning an angel. In fact, this is not something he can
do without being drunk, This man is generous with the alcohol because he
thinks it would be better if the people watching are also completely drunk.
Tron must have realized that there was no point in saying anything, so she
hugged Mimi to her chest and dived onto the sofa. Aku also looks out at the
village from the balcony with a telescope in hand.
"Oh, it looks like Ren-sama is bringing food to the ancient city!"
"Yes, it's better if you scatter things like that as much as you like."
" I'm sure everyone will be very happy. After all, Maou-sama is really kind."
"What are you talking about? Finally, we're getting some fresh seafood. I don't
need the food the nobles were storing for the siege."
The Demon Lord was just replying casually, but that was his true feelings. This
man has a strong attachment to his own world and the authority that comes
with it, and has very little interest in anything else. That is why he is able to
calmly spend in a way that can sometimes seem bold to an outsider. This is not
something to be praised in general. In a fundamental sense, it is like declaring
that he has no value in the money and goods of this other world. That is
extremely self-righteous and a selfish assumption.
"I’ve had too many drinks and it is getting kind a hot here. White Squirrel, come
here."
"Mimi is resting on my chest."
"Come here and I'll give you a carrot. Here you go."
"Ah! Maou is the worst."
Seeing the carrots, Mimi climbs onto the Demon Lord's shoulders as if it were
cash. Not only snow fennecs, but all animals in this world loved carrots and
they were indispensable for breeding. Humans also seek carrots for cooking
and nutrition. Demand was skyrocketing, but only bunnies could raise them,
and the supply could not keep up, so the shortage continued. Aku shouted at
Mimi, who was excited at the sight of the carrots.
"Mimi, don't be lured by food!"
"Kyuuu..."
Perhaps Aku's scolding worked, as Mimi drooped her head and got off the
Demon Lord's shoulder. Before she knew it, a clear relationship of master and
servant had been formed.
"You're trying to betray me! I'll change the name from Cold Pita to Hot Water
Bottle!"
"Kyuuu... (scornful look)"
"Hoo, you don't seem to understand who controls the carrots in this village?"
"Mao's soul is still murky."
The owner's room was very carefree, but at the entrance to the village hut, the
atmosphere was a little tense. Kaiya, the leader of the Tri-Stars, stood before
Ren.
"I'll ask frankly. What is the intention of that fallen angel?", Needless to say, the
Tri-Stars hate women.
However, this girl called Ren has a similar aura to Hero, whom they greatly
admire, and to this day they have never been able to reject her outright.
"Master has a very wide field of vision, and someone like me cannot fathom it."
"Then let me be clear. I'm saying it's creepy!"
“What do you mean creepy?"
"What's with the pile of food and alcohol behind you?"
"This is Master's kindness. He said to distribute it to the villagers for free."
Her words didn't surprise Kaiya. Normally, this would be something to marvel
at, but he had been staying in this ancient city for several days already, and his
sense of wonder had become numb. Water gushed forth endlessly from wells
installed here and there, and in an unfamiliar kitchen, fires lit with the flick of a
switch, and ancient magical tools that could blow anyone’s minds were
everywhere.
On top of that, there's even a dreamlike facility, a public bath with beautiful
mountain and river paintings. To Kaiya, it all seems like a devilish settlement
that leads the human race astray.
"Why are you treating the poor so well? It's not just to dig up black stones, is
it?"
"What are you trying to say?"
"The purpose of that fallen angel is to absorb the poor and dominate the
continent! It must be to wipe out all light and cover everything with darkness!"
"You're misunderstanding something. The Master is the light that illuminates
the three thousand worlds, and there is no other light anywhere."
"Don't mess with me!"
Ren was just telling the truth, but to Kaiya, who was born and raised in the
Tsardom of Light, it was no laughing matter. Both Hero and the others have
been worshipping the great light since birth. There was no way he could simply
nod in agreement to something that directly denied it. But Ren had no
intention of backing down.
"If I were to borrow Master's words, what is the light you are talking about
doing right now?"
"That is…!"
"If ignoring the poverty and war that is right in front of you is what you call
light, then I declare that it is horribly powerless and incompetent."
"...!"
Kaya gritted her teeth at Ren's sharp words, he couldn't argue back , there was
nothing he could do.
"I know this is presumptuous, but why don't you change the basis of your
thinking?"
"What?"
"The existence that possesses the ability to actually achieve that, is the one
who is the light."
"Wa, wait a second...!"
"I won't wait. That person whom you respect has also travelled all over the
continent and saved the hungry people like this, hasn't he? If you don't call that
light, then what do you intend to call it?"
"Ugh... Uuuuuugh!"
When he was given the example of Hero, Kaiya groaned in a voice resembling a
death rattle. To deny now would be to deny his beloved lord. Kaiya was
agonized for a while, but made way for her with a bitter expression. Under
Ren's command, a long line of carts surged into the village hut. Cheers rang out
all around as the food and alcohol loaded on the carts were distributed.
Seeing this, Kaiya hung his head with an indescribable expression. Ultima and
Mushroom tapped on their leader on the shoulders, conveying a deep sense of
emotion.
"You lost, Leader."
"That was a spectacular defeat."
The two spoke in a very blunt manner, like warriors. For them, who believe in
always being on the battlefield, winning or losing is not a matter of spirit, but
simply a result of action.
"Hmph, you can't judge the future from just one battle."
"But losing is losing. You're a sore loser, who got your fangs removed."
"Yes. A spineless person like you has no right to serve Holy Hero-sama. Get
away!"
As an excellent general, the outcome of winning or losing was very important
to them. Moreover, it was unthinkable for them to back down when their
beloved Hero was used as an example. Kaiya drew his sword first, and the other
two silently drew theirs as well. The ugly fight between the three continued
until Hero came to stop them.
---That night---
The crowd's excitement was already reaching its peak. With the unprecedented
situation of free unlimited drinking, the tension was rising, and it already felt
like a legendary night before it even began. It was fortunate that all the items
sold at the stalls were priced at just one copper coin, which was out of this
world, so even the children from poor families in the neighbourhood were able
to stuff their stomachs full.
The seat of honor in front of the casino was also lined up with distinguished
guests. The lord of the village Luna, her servant Eagle, Then chief saint White,
Arts and Sambo had come from the north, and several military nobles who
were skeptical of the existence of fallen angels were also there.
Kid himself was there from the Kid Company, the Minister from Suneo was
there, and the Minister from Euritheis Kingdom was also sitting with a serious
look on his face. The people of the various countries would be shocked to know
that these three were sitting in the same place.
Other guests invited to the seat of honor were Aku, Tron, the nine children,
Azur, Cake, Leon, Kyon, and Momo, who were also invited to represent Bunny.
Madame and her sympathizers were looking out from the balcony of the hot
spring inn with expressions of impatience, and seemed to be looking forward
to the spectacular descent festival. Among the crowd were Hammer and the
Sam family, but there was also a strange being wearing a robe. It was ‘Walking’,
who was once their enemy as a Satanist.
"I never thought I would be witnessing the descent of an archangel."
Walking grabbed a pen and ran a sketch of the Golden Temple across the paper.
He was probably trying to dutifully deliver the summoning scene to Fuji. This
time, only Queen and Yu were absent from the main group. The former chose
to stay in the Holy Castle, while the latter prioritized collecting holy coins.
Arts, sitting in the guest seat, looked up at the huge structure known as the
Golden Temple and couldn't believe his eyes. I wondered if such magnificent
buildings and culture existed in ancient times.
"Sambo, is this the temple everyone was talking about?"
"This wasn't here when I came to this village before."
The other members of the military faction, who had never been to the village
before, were completely stunned by this other world, filled with mysterious
facilities. If this was a kind of magic or illusion, it could be said that the
customers were completely absorbed from the beginning.
Soon, the golden temple emitted a dazzling light, and the lights began to flash
one after another. The magical illuminations that lit up the night sky were a
fantastic sight, and the casino was decorated with colorful projection mapping.
From the speakers installed throughout the village, solemn hymns rang out,
and the gathered crowd froze in shock, but then broke out into a roar that blew
the sky away, along with all these mysterious hymns.
Finally--- the jet-black fallen angel descended on the rooftop of the casino,
which could be called the stage of the century. White muttered in a daze at this
scene that was reminiscent of a myth.
"Lucifer-sama, your wonderful..."
With her hands clasped together and looking up at the rooftop as if praying,
she was the very image of a girl in love. Luna next to her also spoke with a
mixture of emotions on her face.
"Hmm, hmm. He’s a little cool, isn't it..."
Eagle also seemed captivated by the mysterious image projected on the wall.
Even though she had wandered all over the continent, she had never seen
anything like this.
"I wonder if this is why he was called the Lord of the Night..."
Eagle's impression was off the mark, but no doubt many in the crowd shared
the same thought. After seeing this dazzling, magnificent spectacle, there was
probably no one who didn’t recall his infamous title.
Holy Hero and the Tri-Stars were also left speechless by the fantastic sight.
Where on this continent could there be a being capable of such a thing? If
there was, it must be a being that rules the night.
Amid the rainbow-colored illumination, the fallen angel spread his arms like a
stage actor and announced loudly from the rooftop. This was the beginning of
the century's deception.

"ADMINISTRATOR ---"
He opens the management screen to see if anything has changed, and an
unfamiliar message appears on the screen. It is a message announcing the end
of something.
Hakuto Kunai's disappearance is confirmed. The Imperial Code can now be
used only once.
"Haha, he's really disappeared."
A dry laugh escapes the Demon Lord's mouth. One of the conditions to be able
to use the Imperial Code is to defeat the final boss, Kunai. Or, to obtain various
high-level trophies. These were special privileges that would have a major
impact on the venue through an item called the Imperial Code. To put it
bluntly, it was a direct appeal to Akira Ono. If the contents were approved, new
skills, special abilities, items, areas, etc. were added, a system that was not
seen anywhere else.
"The Imperial Code, huh, I never thought it would turn out like this."
As soon as a path opened up, the ring on his finger turned to sand and
disappeared. Same as the Throne Angle.
A helpless sense of loneliness and frustration welled up in the Demon Lord's
chest.
“Ren, sorry, but I’ll head back to the village first—mugh!"
Before he knew it, Ren was covering the Demon Lord's body with her lips and
covering his mouth. The black fallen angel and the girl in the sailor uniform
were one and the same. Such a seductive entanglement was a sight that bound
and transfixed any soul who saw it.
"Y-You! What are you doing---mugh"
"There's no need for Master to worry about someone like that."
Ren holds the Demon Lord's face in both hands and their eyes meet. Her eyes
are like ice, Yet, within them, there was a faint, fleeting presence that reminded
him of cherry blossoms, making the Demon Lord's head spin with dizziness.
"I-I understand. Anyway, let go."
"I refuse."
Rabi's village was in an uproar in the face of the miracle of the Archangel's
descent, but in the hidden forest there was also in an uproar in a different
sense. On this day, another final boss descended on this continent, but at this
stage, no one knew what kind of impact she would have on this other world.

That day, a huge bonfire was lit in Rabi's village, scorching the night sky, and
there was uproar everywhere. An angel, who had long since disappeared from
this continent, had descended before their very eyes. To those who live in the
Kingdom of Holy Light, there could be no greater celebration.
Moreover, all the items on the stalls were sold for almost free, and there was
free all-you-can-drink alcohol. It would be unreasonable to ask them not to
make a fuss over something like this. However, to Manami, who was the source
of the commotion, everything was incomprehensible.
"Um, what ... is this not a dream?"
Facing the commotion of the crowd, Manami looked back and forth with wide
eyes. Though she thought it was a scene from a dream, there was no sign of
her waking up. On the contrary, all her 5 senses seemed to be sharpened, and
even his own body had become younger. Or rather,it felt like she had returned
to her childhood.
Tahara called out to White, ignoring the confused Manami. He probably
thought that he couldn't explain to his sister in this festive atmosphere.
"White-chan, sorry, but can I leave this to you for a bit?"
"Eh ... Ah, yes!"
White's cheeks were flushed in front of this unprecedented miracle, but with a
strong sense of responsibility, she tightened her face and immediately moved
to settle the situation. Next to her, Luna was spinning around in circles, having
a great time. Eagle was watching her with an indescribable expression. In fact,
no one would think of what to say at a time like this.
"Finally, the angel's wings have landed! From today, I'm a golden holy angel!"
"Saint angel, Luna, are you sure you can just accept something like that?"
"Of course it's fine! From now on, call me Princess Holy Gold Angel!"
"Luna, it's too long, everyone will think you're an idiot."
"Who's an idiot!?"
Eagle made a sharp remark, but Luna's good mood didn't change. Arts and
Sambo, who were in the guest seats, also stood up hastily, as if they had just
woken up from a dream.
"Sambo, for now, send in the soldiers you've stationed on the outskirts! I'll put
them on guard duty!"
"Understood!"
The militant faction members also tightened their expressions and moved to
strengthen security. They decided that it would be disastrous if something
happened to the archangel who had descended in the midst of the excited
crowd. Tahara also bluntly starts walking away with his hands in his pockets.
"Manami, it's too noisy here, so how about we talk these small things in my
room."
"Big brother's room? Or rather, where is this? This isn't a dream!?"
"A dream, huh. To me, that world over there was a long nightmare. Come on,
let's go."
"W-wait a minute! Big brother!"
The siblings enter the casino, and the entrance door closes with a heavy sound.
Inside, a dream-like space filled with golden light spreads out.
"N-no, it's not a dream after all. For some reason, my body has turned into that
of a child. I'm wearing a strange dress, and I even have wings on my back."
"Hmm, really? I think it suits you though."
"Big brother, you say random things even in dreams."
Manami doesn't know what her brother's expression was as he walks in front
of her. Despite how much Tahara dotes on his sister, he never shows it in front
of her, and always behaves listlessly9 and somewhat annoyed. You could call it
an unconventional tsundere. Unless if you're talking about a beautiful girl like
Luna it is fine, but a tsundere from a man over 30 is no joke.
"Well, the hotel above here is a luxury hotel. It won't affect your everyday life."
9
too tired or too little interested to want to do things (basically siscon with a touch of Tsundere what
of stuff was akira on to tahara like this )
"Hey, wait a second! I even have something like an angel halo on My head!?"
"Yeah. It suits you perfectly."
"Big brother, you're definitely making fun of me, aren't you? Idiot!"
Of course, Tahara's words are from the bottom of his heart. To him, Manami is
an angel, and nothing less. In fact, he wanted to cry and thank the Director for
summoning her in the form of an angel.
"Aha, this is my room. Let's talk calmly inside."
Tahara has also been given a room in the casino. Which doesn’t use often due
to his busy schedule, but considering that the strategies concocted in this room
can shake up various parts of the continent, it can be said that this place is the
source of unrest.
Beyond the door, where such schemes were swirling, was a miserable space
strewn with household trash. There wasn’t any place to move, papers and pens
were scattered everywhere. To top it off, instant ramen containers and
chopsticks were lying around carelessly, making it seem like a burglar's hideout.
"What, what is this filthy room?"
"What, I told you it was my room."
"The futon is still spread out, and clothes are scattered everywhere."
"Huh? You can just move that stuff around."
Tahara roughly moved aside the clothes he had thrown off in a scattered mess.
At that moment, the clothes he had thrown away hit the remaining cups of
instant ramen, and the leftover broth splattered onto the floor.
"Hey, wait a second! Ramen soup!"
"What are you making such a fuss about? This stuff will dry out if you just leave
it alone."
"You can do whatever you want, big brother!"
"Hey, Manami! What are you doing."
"Just step out into the hallway for a second! I'm going to clean up!"
She pushes Tahara out into the hallway and starts cleaning the room. As she is
set to be good at all kinds of housework, and does it very efficiently.
"Hey, Manami. Cleaning at a time like this is not important. Generally, a man's
room is more comfortable when it's a little messy."
"This garbage dump is not called a room, Wait a sec?"
After this, Manami throws the remains into a garbage bag without any thought
for it. As her desire to do something about this garbage grows stronger, her
body begins to glow faintly.
"Why am I cleaning in my dreams. What, something in my body is tingling."
"Manami, you're glowing! You're shining like a jewel!"
"Ah, I feel like I might be able to make it clean… {White Light}"
An intense light was emitted from Manami's body, and the scattered remains
disappeared one by one. Before she knew it, Tahara's room, which resembled a
garbage dump, had been purified in an instant.
"Yes! The dirt has disappeared along with the trash! (sigh of relief) "
"No way, not that! Even my cigarette butts have disappeared!"
Even the mountain of cigarette butts that had piled up in the ashtray had
disappeared completely. Looking around, even the clothes scattered around
had been cleaned as if they had been freshly washed, suggesting that the white
light that Manami had casually emitted was completely out of the ordinary.
After completing the "purification" that far surpassed cleaning, Manami looked
at her brother again. Even when they lived together, his private life was
extremely lazy, but she probably never expected to be forced to clean even in
her dreams.
“Big brother, sit up straight."
"Huh?"
"Even if it's a dream, this is terrible. I've told you many times to clean your
room regularly, haven't I?"
"Waah! What time are you talking about? When you are just a kid."
"Hurry up and sit down."
"Ah, yes."
After that, Tahara received various warnings from his sister about his lifestyle.
This man was a genius, but in his private life he was lazy and had no interest in
housework, and was incompetent to live alone.
"I know what you want to say. But more importantly, this…"
"You don't get it. You definitely don't get it, do you?"
From Tahara's perspective, the situation of being repeatedly scolded by his
little sister must have brought him to tears with joy. His cheeks have been loose
since earlier, and a mocking smile is plastered on his face.
"In fact, it seems like you're not listening at all, are you? You've been half-
laughing the whole time."
"You’re listening, you’re listening, right? Big Brother, are you listening carefully."
Tahara finally rests his hands on the pillow and gently closes his eyes. The
scene that he had only dreamed of must have brought tears to his eyes. Seeing
this, Manami further blamed her brother with a dirty look, but for these
siblings, it was a scene that was extremely familiar.
Meanwhile, the forest that was is in middle of the storm....
The Demon Lord, who had somehow managed to get out of Ren's clutches, was
standing by the edge of the pond. Forest was heavily damaged by Maria's
magic, but the pond seemed to be safe.
"It brings back memories."
"This is the pond you were talking about before, right?"
"Um, yeah"
Ren's right hand and the Demon Lord's left hand were tightly connected with a
scarf, and it was exactly like the scene he had seen somewhere before.
Considering her Vermilion Bird/ full movement, they must capture her before
she has time to escape.
“Ren, if this keeps up you won’t be able to move if something happens. Let’s
slow down a bit.”
"That person's presence has disappeared, and she has transformed into a
different kind of being."
"...... Hm."
"Please tell me more about her, Master."
Looking at the clear pond, the Demon Lord roughly scratched his hair,
wondering how to explain it. To put it bluntly, she was the final boss of an
online game he had created in the past, but no matter how he explained, it
only sounded suspicious.
To Ren, on the other hand, the dark mist that was covering Akira Ono had been
cleared, and he was a dazzling presence that was unbearable for her. Just being
close to him makes her heart pound so hard it hurts.
"In another world, she was in the same position as Kunai."
"Is that so?"
In fact, Kunai and Maria are characters who are in very similar positions, both
in their cruelty and overwhelming strength. They both possess a huge fortress,
are its master, and need powerful aides. Maria is Kunai's predecessor, and is a
‘prototype’.
Originally, 'prototype' is often used to mean a trial product. However, when it
comes to Maria and her world of The Far East City of Chaos, since it was
created by Akira Ono during his reckless youth, the chaos here is on an entirely
different level compared to the previous venue.
"Well, I'll take care of that person."
"It's dangerous for you to go alone."
"It's fine. This is probably some kind of punishment."
A slight pain runs through the Demon Lord's chest. After disregarding the
voices and wishes of many users, that world was abandoned. Now, it has
transformed into a blade, and was aimed directly at him. It's like something out
of a fairy tale.
This means, you’re not considering about the ones who are going to be left
behind, are you?
The words he had seen once before resurfaced in the Demon Lord's mind. At
that time, he had responded with a wry smile, saying, 'Isn't that a bit
exaggerated?’. Contrary to his wry smile. Now, it had actually become a big
deal.
The Demon Lord continued his empty monologue, as if to savour the irony.
"I thought that if I create a better world, everyone will be happy and smile, and
Even those who were sad or angry would turn things around and come back. I
used to think of things that simply."
The monologue was difficult for Ren to understand. Their perceptions of the
world are too different. The Demon Lord also had no intention of explaining
that it was a game that existed in the modern internet space. Even if he did say
that, it would only cause more confusion.
(This isn't the Matrix movie, and who would believe if he told them that the
world in which the Great Empire existed was a virtual video game?)
To prove this, he would have to somehow travel to modern Japan and show
that it existed there as a game. Even if he doesn’t know how to return, and
even if he could, the venue from before will no longer exists.
“So, it didn’t turn out that way?”
The Demon Lord regained consciousness at Ren's voice. Returning to modern-
day Japan at this point seemed like a fantasy or a fairy tale.
"No, it actually went just as I expected. The population, no, the number of
players, exploded, and before long, the circle spread throughout the world, and
many crazes were born."
The first world, which could be called a prototype, and a world where a great
empire existed, created based on the knowledge and experience gained from
first world. Naturally, the latter was easier to play and naturally evolved.
"But there was one person, there was one who never returned."
As he spoke, the Demon Lord's expression twisted with bitterness. That person
was extremely polite, well-spoken, and knowledgeable, and he remembered
how he had helped him countless times. Perhaps Akira Ono had a very strong
affection for this person.
"I thought that one day he would come back, and see the new world with his
own eyes. That's when I would tell him."
“What is that?”
" ’See, I was right’. But that opportunity never came."
The Demon Lord put a cigarette in his mouth and lit it. He was breathing out
white smoke as usual, but his profile, as Ren saw it, had a feeling of loneliness
about it.
"I'm here for you, Master."
"Hm..."
" 'Forever', that is."
Forever.
By my side.
Always.
He remembered that Aku had once said something similar to that. In a world
where he doesn’t even know what tomorrow will bring, the Demon Lord has
always evaded questions with vague words, but he chuckled softly, perhaps
remembering that he has been in a relationship with Ren and his aides for 15
years. Those long years reminded him more of a family than a lover.
"You always make me ---- uuuuh??"
“Master?”
《Management ×, Message ×△ has arrived ×O》
A strange message flashes through his head, and the Demon Lord hurriedly
calls up the management screen. A word with a sense of déjà vu was written
there.
《Let's play, Demon Lord. 》
《Hey, do you remember where it started? 》
The Demon Lord turned off the management screen, removed his scarf and
embraced Ren. He was probably planning to fly with all his strength.
"It seems that my enemy is bored."
"…Y-Yes."
Ren's face flushed a faint red from the stronger embrace. The Demon Lord also
clearly sensed the presence of his enemy and was overcome with joy.
"I can't sense her presence from master anymore."
"Hm? Well, I suppose so."
"We've finally been reunited in a true sense. My Akira-san"
“Ah, you see…”
Suddenly called by his real name, the Demon Lord almost lost his strength, but
he seemed to pull himself together and shouted in a spirited voice.
"Let's return to the village, Ren. We're going to start putting the facilities into
full operation."
"Yes. From today onwards, this place is mine."
(Hey, hey, hey! Are you saying something ominous??)
And thus, the political turmoil that had covered the Holy Light Kingdom truly
came to an end. Having witnessed the true miracle of the Archangel's descent,
no one in the country will be able to oppose the Demon Lord.
Moreover, there are still SPs remaining, and it looks like we will be able to
obtain a large amount of holy coins. It won't be long until all of his aides are
gathered.
(Once things calm down, I'll have to investigate this thing called ‘Naraku’ .)
With many factions and their individual intentions intertwined – the continent
was entering a turbulent era where ancient grudges were also mixed together.
接/続(connection)
Rookie City
An unusual duo was walking through the city that had been taken over by the
Demon Lord's faction through their cunning tactics. It was Tahara, the one who
took over the city, and Hammer. The former was shopping while inspecting the
place, but Hammer, unusually, asked to accompany him.
"It's really lively here. Is this also because of the new bubble?"
"I heard that a new floor was discovered in the labyrinth."
"That's it! This happened as soon as the Chief took over the city. I wonder what
he was really seeing. This is giving me a headache."
The Demon Lord could see nothing, but Tahara frowned in exasperation.
Putting aside the usual misunderstandings, the city is overflowing with
adventurers from all over, and the voices of salesmen are endless. Some people
are lining up their tools on the streets, and the number of shops selling
weapons and armor is also rapidly increasing.
Inns and restaurants were bustling from morning to night, probably because of
the increase in customers. All of this was due to the economic bubble caused
by the discovery of the new floor.
"It seems that the people the Chief ordered to investigate discovered it."
"Yes, yes. I heard that Yukikaze-sama and Mikan-sama discovered it."
"I see. So, are they famous?"
"Those two are in a class of their own. Unlike me, who was a nobody, they
were the envy of adventurers, the stars of the town."
"Oh dear, I wonder if this is also a plot by the Chief, I'm getting sick of this."
Here too, serious misunderstandings were developing, but it was no wonder
Tahara thought so. Since the recent counter-invasion, Rookie's town had been a
disaster area, so to speak. But as soon as he took over, a new area was
discovered, and an economic bubble began.
From Tahara's point of view, this was some sort of a ridiculous story. However,
as if he remembered something, his expression changed completely and he
smiled.
"Anyway, listen to me, Hama-chan! Look at Manami, eating the fish you
brought yesterday with joyfulness! She says she's never eaten such delicious
fish! Look at that archangel's smile, Even the dead would come back to life!"
"That's a great honour.”
"Not only the Chief, but even my archangel smiles, you're doing great! You and I
are now buddies! I'm counting on you from now on, Hama-chan!"
"Ouch, ouch, ouch ... stop."
Tahara slapped Hammer's back several times, then happily put him in a
headlock. He was probably showing his affection in his own way, but to
Hammer it was just a nuisance.
"Um, so, Archangel-sama, do she like things from the sea?"
Hammer asked hesitantly, and Tahara, hearing it, looked off into the distance.
His mind was drawn to their wandering days.
"We ran away from our home and left our toxic parents, when we were kids
There was a time when we hid out at the fishing port, and lived by stealing fish.
I still can't forget the taste of the fish we ate back then."
"That, that was… um, a lot of hardship."
Hearing Tahara's recollection, a number of questions came to Hammer's mind.
Because he couldn't connect the word "running away" with the race of angels.
However, legends say that fallen angels were also banished from heaven, so
Hammer somehow understood and swallowed it.
"Fishermen are crazy, so if we got caught, it's would’ve been a big problem.
After that, we ended up staying at a shrine run by a shitty old man, but
whenever something happens, I always end up thinking back to those
wandering days."
“shitty old man?”
" That old man, Okuda Sougen, was a ridiculous guy who claimed he was the
strongest in the world for just three minutes. The Chief and the higher-ups of
the Great Empire were all too careful around that old man."
Tahara was saying things that didn't make sense, and Hammer's head felt like it
was going to explode. From his point of view, he had no choice but to dismiss it
as something from a heaven. Then, a group of three bad guys appeared and
called out to Hammer. They were a group of familiar faces who had been
friends for a long time.
"I was wondering who it was, but it's that useless Hammer."
"So you've come back because you heard some good news about the
economy?"
"Don't say it like that. You'll pay me for my guidance again, right?"
Hammer trembles in fear at the sound of those voices. He's had his meager
money stolen from him since he was young, and the fear has become a trauma
for him. Tahara glances at the men and opens his mouth in dismay.
"These guys are just typical scum... What's going on with the security?"
"Huh!? What’s that, you bastard!"
"You're a friend of a total idiot? You want to pay for my guidance too?"
"Calm down... Hey Hammer! Go buy us some booze first. Like always."
Tahara silently puts a cigarette in his mouth, lights it and steps forward. The
thug-like man also steps forward, shoulders slicing through the air, and
collapses dramatically.
"Ouch! My arm's broken!"
"Hey, old man! First of all, you need some money for your medical expenses!"
Tahara put his hands in his pockets and delivered a classic middle kick. The
sound of a breaking arm echoed around the area, and Tahara next silently
crushed the man's right leg as he collapsed.
"Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
"Yep, it's broken."
In an instant, Hammer froze and couldn't move, but the remaining thug also
seemed to have sensed his opponent's extraordinary strength and sat down
limply as if they had lost their nerve. While exhaling smoke, Tahara said as if
looking down at the garbage.
"And what’s this? Who do you think you're trying to make run errands for you.
Hey, you go buy some! One for me and Hama-chan!"
"Y-yes, yes...”
The thug quickly stood up and left the place at the speed of the wind. Tahara
sat down on a nearby wooden box and exhaled smoke with relish as if nothing
had happened. Then, belatedly, the guards and their captain appeared, having
heard the commotion.
"H-Hello, General Manager! I'm sorry for bothering you! Lately, there has been
a sudden increase in these kinds of thugs."
"I'm not making you patrol to hear your excuses; you know?"
"I'm really sorry. Lately, adventurers have been pouring in from all sides, and
we haven't been able to keep an eye on them."
"Well, I guess I'm also to blame for not being able to read the Chief’s
intentions."
Tahara stood up from the wooden box while expressing his regrets, and gently
handed the captain five gold coins. This is probably Tahara's way of winning
people's hearts.
" My bad. I'll arrange for more troops, so everyone get together and have some
drinks."
"Oh, what a blessing!"
The captain nodded happily several times, picked up the thug and left the
scene. With five gold coins, he could take his subordinates and treat them to as
many lavish meals and wine as they wanted. It was more than enough to
maintain his dignity as a superior. Just as they were leaving, that thug came in
with two bottles of wine, but Tahara laughed and handed them back.
"In exchange for the condolence money, let them have those two drinks. Also,
there won't be a next time?"
"Y-yesssss! I'm so sorry!"
The thug hurriedly ran away to escape Tahara's sharp gaze. Meanwhile,
Hammer remained frozen like a stone statue.
"Hey, Hama-chan! How long are you going to sleep for?"
“Y-yes”
"Well any way, I need to arrange for more people. Let's go Hama-chan."
"Y-yes."
The two of them walked through the crowded city. One was the perfect tall,
slim, muscular man, and the other was the perfect chubby middle-aged man.
Those who knew Tahara hurriedly made way, while those who didn't were
pulled by the arms of those around them and pushed to the side of the road.
"Ahh? What are you doing?"
"You idiot, don't you know? That's the General Manager who took over this
town!"
"You've got to be kidding me. A young man like that."
Ignoring the noisy voices around him, Hammer stopped and spoke
apologetically.
"Excuse me, but there's a place I'd like to go to."
"Oh? Well, don't be shy. I'll join you."
"No way! The General Manager is so busy, why would you want to bother me
with something like this!"
"Since we're out, let's do something other than work for once."
Tahara urges the reluctant Hammer, following him leisurely from behind.
Hammer buys a water bucket on the way and heads to a rundown fishing port.
It must have once been a thriving place, with fishermen's huts scattered, but all
those have long since decayed and been eroded by the sea breeze, leaving
them in ruins.
"It's pretty decayed. Has the fishing industry died out here?"
"It was prosperous when I was a kid, but the neighbouring Euritheis Kingdom
started driving away the fishermen with warships."
"I see. So that's why it ended up like this."
Hammer crouched behind a large rock and began cleaning an altar that had
likely rotted away long ago. It was in such a dilapidated state that it was hard to
tell what had once been enshrined there. Tahara, as if seeing something
strange, called out to Hammer.
"What is that? Are you worshiping the god of this world?"
Tahara laughed as he watched him diligently cleaning, but Hammer gave a
bitter smile. He didn't know what it was either.
"I don't know why, but I feel at ease when I come here. Both she and I were
ignored by everyone and were forgotten."
Tahara couldn't see his expression as he spoke from where he was, but there
was a sense of loneliness about his back. Hammer repeatedly scooped water
from the bucket and polished the rotten altar with a towel.
"Unlike you guys, I was a man who was not needed by anyone. I may have been
selfishly comparing myself to this person to comfort myself. Haha, she will
probably scold me for this."
Tahara must have had something on his mind as he listened to Hammer's
monologue. Although in a different way, Tahara had also been separated from
his sister and spent half of his life alone, and so, the unexpected words came
out of his mouth.
"I see. In that case, you should take it back to the village."
“Eh, wait...what?!"
"Rather than staying in such a lonely place, isn't it better to come to our place
and have fun? Right?"
"N-no, but you moved the altar without permission...huh?"
"What's wrong?"
"N-no, I just heard a woman's voice in my head saying ‘I give you permission’ !"
"Hahaha! Hey, Hama-chan. You're not drunk in the morning, are you?"
"N-no way!"
Tahara laughed loudly as he tossed the altar into his spare bag.
"Well, I guess I'll go and finish up my business next. Bear with me for a bit."
"Y-yes! If you're okay with me, I can go anywhere!"
Tahara headed to the headquarters of the Adventurer's Guild. The guild is an
organization that monopolizes the loot obtained from the labyrinth, and is a
organization vested interest that refuses third parties from entering.
It crosses all borders and has strong ties with guilds scattered all over the
country, so it is very difficult for new entrants to join.
In old Japanese terms, it is similar to a "za10 " or "kabu namakama11 ".
10
refers to a traditional guild or association in old Japan, often associated with crafts or trade, where members
would control certain goods or services.
11
refers to a group of people in pre-modern Japan who banded together for business or trading purposes,
usually a kind of cooperative or closed group with shared interests.
The three receptionists, after greeting, immediately shift in their seats as if to
say, "That was a waste." Hammer also shrugged his shoulders in
embarrassment, and then Tahara arrived, to make the situation worst.
"Welcome, General Manager!"
The three of them stood up as if struck by lightning, and gave a perfect
welcome, but Tahara didn't even look at it and handed the grilled skewers to
Hammer.
"Eat this and wait a bit."
"What, even for me?! I'm so grateful."
"When we get back to the village, why don't we invite Manami over and have
some grilling? She seems so nostalgic about her wandering days, she's eating
fish with such joy."
"That's outrageous! Someone like me in a place like that!"
Seeing the friendly relationship between the two, the three girls' faces turned
pale. Their reactions from then on embodied the expression "Tables have been
turned". They immediately jumped out from behind the counter and started to
entertaining Hammer.
"Now, Hammer-sama, please come this way!"
"Huh?"
"Hammer-sama, have these are cigars from Euritheis Kingdom."
"Cigar?! Ah, I don't smoke...."
"Here is some tea from Suneo. Please make yourself at home."
"No no! You can't give such an expensive thing to someone like me...!"
While Hammer is surrounded by the three and receiving the utmost in
hospitality, on the other hand Tahara looks at his order form. What he is
looking for is the shell of a monster called a "sand snail".
When this is crushed finely and mixed with clay, it becomes a cement-like
substance. Add water, sand, crushed stone, and more to this and you get a
material similar to concrete.
It is an absolutely essential supply in Rabi's village, which is in the midst of a
construction boom. There are countless other necessary supplies, and the
copper and iron extracted from a monster called "Tin" are also highly valued.
There is also a high demand for meat from the "wild chicken". Although it is
tough and sinewy, it is inexpensive and reasonably nutritious, making it
extremely popular among the workers.
The feathers from the "raven" that appears on the lower levels of the Prison
Labyrinth are also attractive. These are mainly used for arrows, but they can
also be used to decorate clothes. Rabi's village is currently in the midst of high
growth, and there is no shortage. They are always in need of some kind of
supplies and are hungry.
They also need a lot of leather and dairy products, but they have to get them
from "Milk", a representative pasture in the north. However, there is no
diplomatic relationship between the Holy Light Kingdom and Milk, as the
distance is too far.
"Hey, nee-chan, I want more leather, but Milk is far from here, and it seems like
they’ve upset the Chief and Tunga tribe got annihilated. There is no longer
worth importing! Why the hell is my boss such a disaster?"
"Y-Yes..."
"So, could you please collect as much leather and dairy products as you can for
us?"
"I-I understand! U-um, what about the regulars?"
"Huh? Everything, everything. Gather it all up and bring it to me."
"Y-Yes!"
The receptionist nodded and gave a small fist pump. When the General
Manager came, all the goods were sold. Naturally, the employees who worked
here also received a special bonus, so it was a great benefit.
The head of the union rushed out of his office at the speed of an arrow, as soon
as he heard that the General Manager had come to visit. The other employees
also stood tall to avoid making any mistakes.
"Oh my, oh my, Tahara-sama! Welcome today!"
The head of the guild casually looks over and confirms Hammer, who is sitting
there with a tense look on his face. Looking back at his memory, he was one of
the porters who had been called useless and incompetent. However, as the
head of the guild, who is well versed in the world, changed his attitude
completely and treats Hammer.
"Oh my, Hammer-sama! Thank you for coming!"
"No, no, I, well, I just happened to be here."
"What are you talking about! We hope you will continue to support our guild!"
While Hammer breaks out in a cold sweat, Tahara continues his detailed
purchases, and the guild suddenly becomes lively. The ordered goods are all
delivered to Rabi's village, as there are many merchants who want them so
they pay immediately, as stocks are quickly selling out.
The counter-invasion hit Rookie's town hard, but now the prices of the produce
from the labyrinth have skyrocketed, and the town is booming. The Demon
Lord's full-scale activities had an unexpected impact here as well.
"Well, I'll count on you as always."
"Thank you very much! We look forward to seeing you again!"
Tahara opened the door with a bang, and Hammer bowed repeatedly as he left
the guild. The next place they both headed to was the slums.
"Oh, so there's was someone here who helped you out."
"Yes. When I was hungry, he often gave me leftovers."
"Oh, you want to repay his kindness?"
"I hope I can repay the kindness I received from back then, even if just a little."
"Oh, such a heartfelt story also would be good."
The slums they headed to were dimly lit, even though it was still daytime. Every
town has its dark side, but Rookie's town is especially so. It divides adventurers
into those who will succeed and those who won't.
The smell was thick in the air, and the residents' clothes were dirty and worn
out. This was a scene that could be seen in any area, so it wasn't particularly
strange. It was strange to see Rabi's village, where people do their laundry and
take baths every day. Glancing at them, the two finally reached the person they
were looking for. That was a woman in her 40’s pulling a food cart.
"You're, Hammer! I can't believe you're still alive."
"M-Michi-san... well, it's been a while."
"... and who is that next to you?"
"Oh, you don't have to worry about me. I’m Just a passerby."
Tahara sits down on a convenient wooden box and starts smoking with a
relaxed look on his face. He doesn't dislike these slums or rundown places at
all. In fact, he's from place like this.
"Hammer, where are you living now?"
"R-right now I'm being taken care of by the Holy Light Kingdom."
"You're making a living in a place full of nobles?"
"Th-something... so, um, I wanted to thank you for all the help you gave me."
"Ha! You're a worthless guy, so don't make me laugh by saying thank you like
that!"
Laughing at Hammer's words, the woman called Michi began preparing the
food to be served at the food stall. In truth, she wasn't expecting any thanks.
She just felt sympathy and anger at his pathetic appearance and gave him some
leftovers every now and then.
"But, Michi-san… I..."
"Stop whining and ask for something as a thank you!"
"H-h-well!!? Well then, I'll have the usual please."
Tahara can't help but laugh as Michi responds crisply. She is the epitome of a
heroine, and probably thinks of Hammer as just a big-bodied idiot.
"Give me one too. I don't know what you're bringing out though."
"You have money, don't you?"
"Phew!"
Tahara bursts out laughing at that reaction, at such a reaction. Since coming to
this world, he had never been looked at with such a suspicious gaze, as if he
were penniless.
Now that Tahara has confiscated the wealth of the nobles, he is the one who
controls the Demon Lord's camp, and is like a modern oil tycoon. When he is
treated like a NEET who is a waste of money, all he can do is laugh.
"Don't worry. Hama-chan has become quite wealthy recently. I'll have him treat
me."
"Ha-yes! With pleasure!"
Her expression changed when she saw the leather bag Hammer took out of his
pocket. As it was filled to the brim with silver coins, but far from being
surprised, Michi was furious.
"What where did you do get that much money?! You're not doing anything bad
with that guy, are you!"
"N-No, that's not true! I, well, I'm just pretending to be a fisherman right now."
" Are you an idiot? Where the fuck did find fish in that country??"
“They're swimming, you know”, Perhaps Tahara couldn't bear to listen any
longer and spoke up.
He probably thought that if things continued like this, Hammer would be
reported to the police and thrown in jail. In fact, Hammer was currently
receiving an enormous daily allowance. It was inevitable that a man who was
widely called incompetent in this town would arouse suspicion if he carried
around a large amount of money.
Perhaps Michi couldn't bear to listen to this any longer because it was so
stupid, so she started preparing the food herself. She poured oil into a pan and
threw sliced garlic into it. Suddenly, the smell of roasted garlic spread all
around, making Tahara's nose twitch.
"Oh dear, this is unbearable at lunchtime. I'm getting hungry."
Ignoring what Tahara was saying, Michi put rice into the iron pot and mixed it
with a ladle, scooping up the soup. The soup was a bouillon made by
simmering chicken bones and aromatic vegetables. While skillfully frying the
ingredients, Michi glared suspiciously at Tahara.
"So, where are the fish in that country surrounded by mountains?"
"Now in the Holy Light Kingdom, an area has been created that connects to the
sea. Hama-chan is a promising star who will fish for seafood there."
"What do you mean, promising star? You guys aren't on any dangerous drugs,
are you?"
As she spoke, Michi put a small amount of milk and cheese into the iron pot
and finished cooking quickly. Served in a wooden bowl, it was one of the dishes
she often served.
"Here, it's done. Here, six copper coins. Take them out."
"Y-yes! Thank you!"
Tahara took it and narrowed his eyes again. Not because it was something
familiar, but because of the ingredients used.
"Is this cheese risotto?"
"Risotto? What is it?"
"It's not like it's a specialty of this country, so I don't think so."
"This is my idea. It's expensive for a food stall, so it doesn't sell well."
It was made with garlic and bouillon, and the aroma was so appetizing. Looking
down into the bowl, he saw rice and cheese entangled, and his stomach started
growling. Tahara twitches his nose, makes sure it's not poisoned, and gobbles it
down in one go. When he puts it in his mouth, the hot rice and cheese melt
together in his mouth, and the taste is exquisite.
"Yeeeesss, this is delicious! Seriously!"
"Y-yes! This has always been my favorite food."
Tahara's response makes Hammer smile with delight. It was just food from a
stall in a dark alley, but to him, it was soul food. Tahara also ate the risotto and
asked him about something that had been bothering him.
"You said Michi, right? Aren't the ingredients you handle too good for slum
cooking? Especially high-quality milk and cheese, which you can't get unless
you trade with the milk guys."
"Hmph, it's the same as that Dekubo over there. A long time ago, he used to
give leftovers to a idiot who was starving and collapsed on the street.
Somehow, that idiot started a successful business back home."
"Hmph, he is same as that old boy over there. A long time ago, I used to give
my scraps to a fool who'd collapsed on the street from starvation. Somehow,
that fool became a successful businessman back in his home country."
Hammer's face also looks nostalgic as he listens to this. It seems that they were
mutual acquaintances.
"Maryo-san has really grown up, He hasn't forgotten the kindness he received
back then, and now he sends various ingredients to Michi-san."
"Hmm, that's an interesting story."
Tahara's eyes flashed blue for a moment. Right now, he was desperate for Milk
products. This was like a godsend to him.
"Can you get in touch with this Maryo?"
"Ha, even if you're a fool, you're still my customer. Who would introduce a
suspicious man like you to him?"
"Haha! A suspicious man, I have no words to say when you say that. Hey, I have
a suggestion for you. Would you like to come to Holy Light Kingdom?"
"That's ridiculous, Who would go to a country with such arrogant aristocrats?"
"But? I pretty much killed them all."
Tahara laughs and says something ridiculous. It sounded like a joke, but to
Michi, who has seen many people in this back alley, this man was a hardened
villain. The look in his eyes and the presence he gives off at times are very
similar to those of an assassin.
"Hammer! Think about who you hang out with. This guy is no good!"
"N-no, no! Michi-san, this he is...!"
"Oh, oh, you understand very well. Well, just think about it.", Saying this,
Tahara leaves the food stall.
He knows that trying to persuade this type of person will only be
counterproductive. Hammer bows repeatedly, places a large amount of silver
coins on his back, and jogs after him.
"S-sorry... Michi-san has always been a stubborn person..."
"I don't mind. If I come here a few times, she will probably get the idea."
Even though it's a food stall, it's still good food. There probably wouldn't be
many customers in a back alley like this. It's only natural for the chef to want
more people to eat her food. In that respect, if she set up a food stall in Rabi's
village, she would have no trouble finding customers.
(Maryo, huh?, I need to make a connection with him somehow.)
Tahara was thinking about this as he took Hammer and disappeared. The two
of them returned to Rabi's village in an instant, but both still had a lot of work
ahead of them.
Meanwhile, many people were gathering at the Prison Labyrinth, at the center
of the rookies. The square in front of the labyrinth was crowded with people,
and porters were seen negotiating for money, and impromptu parties were
being formed, among other things. The tool shop seemed to be thriving, as
water bags, tents, oil, ropes, small knives, hourglasses, and other items were
being sold with such force that they could be sold as soon as they were lined
up.
Some people were listening to the fortune teller's advice with serious
expressions, while others were having their hair cut in a carefree manner. The
Prison Labyrinth was originally a place where beginners called rookies
gathered, but that is no longer the case. The discovery of the new floor led to
curious adventurers beginning to visit.
What made the crowd to flock was the discovery of a monster called the ‘Noble
Badger’ on a new floor. It looks like a white badger12, but its meat is incredibly
delicious. Even in labyrinths where three and four-star adventurers normally
challenge, these monsters are rarely encountered.
It's irresistible that so many of them have been discovered. Their meat alone is
said to be worth five gold coins, and the skin is so popular that auctions are
held for them. This is because noble women like to wear the carefully
processed leather around their necks.
12
badger is a small, burrowing mammal belonging to the family Mustelidae, which also includes weasels,
otters, and minks. Badgers are typically known for their stocky bodies, short legs, and distinctive facial
markings, often with white stripes.
Other monsters that have been confirmed are called "Oboro Crystals," which
are crystals with roses trapped inside, and they drop very expensive crystal
roses, which has caused a frenzy among the people. These monsters are very
weak, and even rookies can defeat them, so many adventurers flocked to them.
Among them are many famous parties that you would never see in a rookie
town.
"I never thought Noble Badgers would appear in a labyrinth like this."
"And there seem to be quite a few of them."
"It seems like this is a floor where no one has been before. They must have
bred without being hunted."
As porters were exchanging these words, they began to stuff food into their
backpacks one after the other. Some were stuffing vegetables, dried meat,
dried fruit, salty nuts, and wine into leather bags.
Rather than diving into the labyrinth, each party was on what was more like an
expedition. They were resolved not to return home until they had collected a
certain amount of the materials they were after.
Valuable meat, leather, and crystal will plummet in price if sold in large
quantities. Each party wanted to gather as much material as they could and sell
it before that happened.
At the center of this enthusiastic group of adventurers were Yukikaze and
Mikan, the key players in this adventure. They were already well-known, but
rumors were circulating that their achievements would see them promoted to
A rank. The combination of the white fairy-like Yukikaze and the healthy tanned
Mikan stood out wherever they were. Whenever the adventurers gathered, all
they did was talk about these two.
"They make a good pair, Mikan, won't you have a drink with me?"
"I'll protect Yukikaze Tama's anus even at the cost of my life."
"You idiots, do you think I’ll waste my time with you guys?"
Ignoring the gazes of the people, Mikan looked around and spoke in
amazement. It was hard to believe that it had been a burnt wasteland until a
while ago.
"Look, Yukikaze. Just a while ago, it was like the country was ruined, but the
mountains and rivers were still standing13 ."
"The country is destroyed, but Sangaria14 is here."
"Huh!?"
Yukikaze was still being silly, but that was business as usual. Mikan seemed
uncomfortable, as she wasn’t expecting their discovery would be so important,
and above all, as the discoverer of a new level, she was very dissatisfied.
"What the hell is that name anyway? It doesn't make any sense!"
On this continent, anyone who makes a new discovery is given the right to
name it. Whether it's a mineral, plant, monster, or a new path in the labyrinth.
The two of them played rock-paper-scissors, and in the end Yukikaze won and
got right to name it.
"It's a very good name. I named it after my Oji-sama."
As a result, Yukikaze named the newly discovered path " kawaE over kawaF15 "
It was only natural that Mikan was angry.
"What do you mean by kawaE over kawaF! What's wrong with your naming
sense?"
" Oji-sama is kawaZ"
"Shut up!"
As the two of them were making such a fuss, the rumored Oji-sama appeared
before them. He had already returned to his original form, but his tall body and
jet-black long coat still drew attention. He must have come here because of the
message he saw other day.
Upon seeing him, Yukikaze ran over without a moment's hesitation and
embraced him head-on. Even the Demon Lord was perplexed by this.
13
“The country is in ruins, but the mountains and rivers remain”, which expresses the idea that even after a
disaster or collapse, nature endures.
14
Yukikaze humorously replaces "mountains and rivers" with "Sangaria," which is a well-known brand of soft
drinks in Japan. So meaning got shifted from something grandiose like nature enduring anything like mikan
intended, to something more trivial like a bottle of coke.
15
In raw its called “ kawa E koete kawa F “ – I think it’s a word play like kawai(means cute) it can be roughly
translated as “cuteE over cuteF”. (btw: kawa in literal sense means river/stream and it doesn’t make sence in
this context)
"Umm, hey!"
"I'm getting nutrients that I can only get from you, Oji-sama."
"I don’t have something like that around!"
The Demon Lord seemed surprised by the sight around him, even as he
retorted. When he had visited before, the reconstruction work was still
ongoing, but now there was no sign of that. Everywhere you look, the place is
swarming with people, and its lively energy is no less than that of Rabi's village.
"It seems pretty lively here, are you having some kind of festival?"
In response to the Demon Lord's question, Mikan leaned back as if she had
been waiting for it. They were the ones who created this bustle.
"Good question. While you were wandering around, we made the discovery of
the century."
"Oh? What did you find?"
"Discovery of genitalia16. Mikan is a HENTAI."
"You stay quiet!"
Mikan started over, sipping from the water bag to quench her thirst. After all,
they received a large gold coin from the Demon Lord, so they were probably
going to report it as an official job.
"Okay? First, we discovered a new floor. The path to the 21st floor."
"I'm sure the deepest level was the 20th floor, but below that?"
Hearing that, the doubt in the Demon Lord's mind turned into certainty.
《Let's play, Demon Lord. 》
《Hey, do you remember where we started? 》
That message was the same as the one he saw underground in the Prison
Labyrinth. Mikan, with a troubled look on her face, spoke while the Demon
Lord was lost in thought.
16
世紀の発見 ("seiki no hakken"): "Discovery of the century" and …性器の発見 ("...seiki no hakken"): "...The
discovery of the genitals." Both sound similar in Japanese
"It seems that Noble Badgers and Oboro Crystals have appeared underground.
After hearing the rumors, adventurers from all over the continent gathered
here. Now we're in full conquest mode."
"Conquest mode?"
The Demon Lord raised one eyebrow at the unfamiliar word. Usually, humans
would invade the labyrinth, but sometimes the labyrinth would produce
invaders and launch counter-invasions on human towns. The ‘conquest mode’
that Mikan was talking about was a human invading all the way to the lowest
level in multiple batches like a wave.
Adventurers are stationed inside the labyrinth, making camps on each floor,
stockpiling water and food there, and creating artificial bases. Not only
weapons and armor, but also tool shops and blacksmiths are sent, and if
necessary, they will even build a bar. Human desires are truly frightening.
This is not something that is initiated by someone calling out or leading, but
something that occurs naturally. It is a phenomenon that is often seen when a
new labyrinth or an undiscovered path is discovered. As he listened to Mikan's
explanation, the Demon Lord also remembered some similar phenomena. If
people can make money, they will naturally gather there and act in the same
way.
Once upon a time, a large amount of money was found in a bamboo grove, and
at that time, people flocked to explore the bamboo grove. If a certain product
is profitable, they will buy up all of it and resell it. The worlds are different, but
human nature is not so different.
"I see, 'conquest' is indeed a fitting term."
“Oji-sama What kind of uniform play do you like? I'll wear anything for you."
"That's not uniform!"
The Demon Lord reflexively interjected at Yukikaze's dirty joke, but his
expression changed drastically. Because Mikan handed him a strange paper.
"What is this."
"I don't know. It disappeared as soon as we found it."
The paper had strange words written on it. The moment the Demon Lord saw
what’s written, he grabbed Mikan and moved all the way to the 20th floor.
The three suddenly appeared without a sound, and the surrounding
adventurers started to stir, but Yukikaze and Mikan also looked around with
wide eyes.
"Wh-what-what! Why are we in the labyrinth!? What did you do!"
"Mikan, where is this path that leads down?"
“Ah, it's over there... Hey, wait a second, you! At least explain!"
Mikan was making a fuss about the incomprehensible phenomenon, but the
Demon Lord ignored them and headed towards a new path. The paper in his
hand was crushed with great force.
"I teleported together with the Oji-sama. Emotional."
"What do you mean by emotional? You mean scary!"
"you're being too emotional."
"Can you just be quiet now!?"
The Demon Lord started walking in the direction Mikan was pointing, but there
was no trace of his former self there. Countless lights containing magic stones
were attached to the walls as far as the eye could see, and it was so bright it
was like midday, making it hard to believe this was still the inside of a labyrinth.
Countless shops had been built using the prisons on this floor, from bars to
gambling halls and shockingly even brothels. It was truly a stopover on the way
to a new floor. However, Demon Lord ignored the murmuring adventurers and
stood in front of the stairs leading down. The moment he saw those words, the
fog that had been hanging in his head been cleared.
One person came to mind. A person he had spent many days with in modern-
day Japan, but couldn't remember their name, age, or even gender.
"XX... No, Venus..."
That was the name that person had used online. It was just a handle name, and
could not have been his real name. But that name struck a deep chord with the
current Demon Lord.
(Why did I forget about him? That's weird.)
It's definitely not something that can be forgotten. Akira Ono and Venus were
like bad friends, together without even realizing it. In the past, he would have
laughed at that name as a common handle name. But now, that nickname
holds an important meaning.
(I've done some research on fallen angels in the library of the sacred city since
then.)
Many things about Lucifer were written there. Some simply called him Satan,
while others said he was the leader of all the angels. There are so many
nicknames that it seems ridiculous to count them. Some of them are: Son of
the Dawn, Rare Rebel, Light Bearer, Morning Star, Ruler of the Night, Shining
Son of the Dawn, etc. ---And Venus---.
This is also one of the nicknames of the fallen angel Lucifer. The Demon Lord's,
no, Akira's, head spins, and memories of the past overflow from his brain.
Opening the crushed piece of paper, Akira looks at it again.
-Dear Akira-
This is probably something to say to Dear Akira.
He saw a barrier of some sort stretched out over the place, with a warning
message displayed: "No entry".
"Damn! What is this."
The Demon Lord hits it with all his might, but the barrier won’t budge. In fact, a
strange sound is heard and blood-stained letters appear on the screen.
...Let's devour everything, just like that red-stained planet...
...Let's rule everything, just like this lush, blue planet...
The strange words sent a chill down the Demon Lord's spine. The sender of the
message is saying to devour everything and rule everything. The Demon Lord
slammed into the barrier again, but all his jabs were mercilessly repelled. A
mocking, yet embracing message appeared on the screen.
---To my other Half---
---It's too early to become one!---
"What do you mean, other half, you bastard!"
The Demon Lord reflexively hurled the Fire of Sodom at the screen, smashing it
to pieces. As if in tandem, the other screens also began to display text one after
another, only for it to shatter. It was in English, Arabic, Chinese, and Hangul.
The content was nonsensical, and it seemed that those were just trying to
make fun of him. While the adventurers screamed as glass rained down on
them, the Demon Lord bragded.
"It's too early, isn't it? In that case, let's go and get everything done as you
wish."
With that, the Demon Lord turned his long coat and disappeared. With that,
the magic stone of light regained its glow, and the floor was enveloped in light.
The adventurers, relieved, shouted orders and began to move, to settle the
situation.
Behind the scenes of peaceful daily life, the "stage" was steadily being
prepared.
There are many leading actors and actresses to star on this stage.
The prelude to the world war that would shake the entire continent was quietly
progressing, with no one even sensing its signs.
あとがき(Afterword)
Thank you very much for purchasing the memorable 10th volume! I'm the
author, Kanzaki Kurone.
This volume is a very memorable one in many ways. It's been a while since the
comic and light novel was released at the same time, and by the time this hits
the bookstores, the anime should be just about to start airing.
The preparation period from when I first envisioned this story to when I
actually started writing, the awards, commercial development, and all the
other hardships are all coming back to me, but as I write this that feels like a
slideshow.
Am I going to die? (lol)
Jokes aside, I would like to briefly look back on volume 10.
In this volume, we have depicted various movements and changes after the
civil war, but it was also the volume where the middle-aged Hammer, who has
been leading the way since volume 3, finally awakened.
In this story full of eccentrics and weirdos, he was a rare ordinary person, but I
want to depict people who are not only strong, but also active in various fields.
When I was living as an honest member of society, the world was always
talking about winners and losers, but now it's evolved(?). From parent gacha,
teacher gacha, new graduate gacha, boss gacha... Shut up, gacha, gacha, gacha!
(laughs).
Having lived this long, I've come to realise that life isn't that simple, and that
it's no good to only see one side of things, like how someone is great because
they have money. What I want to say is that it's wonderful to live as you like
without worrying about the world.
I also live freely and carefree, and I don't accept control from anyone. I hope
that you, who are reading this afterword, will also live freely and as you like.
Now, I'm going to write a little about the anime from here, but I think that by
the time this volume is released, more information will be released.
Last time, I only read the script and made corrections, but this time I
participated from the script meeting and participated in the recording online
almost every time.
I'm so grateful to the production team and cast who faced this story every
week and seriously challenged it. It's been a few years since then, but I
remember a strong characters as soon as I see them.
I hope we can enjoy it together this fall.
Well then, let's meet in the next volume 11!
