Probability: Lesson 10

# 𝑜𝑓 𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑐𝑎𝑛 ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑒𝑛

Probability = 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 # 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠

1. What are the chances of rolling an odd number on a six-sided die?

2. What are the chances, as a decimal, of flipping tails on a coin?

3. What is the probability that you will spin red on this wheel? Express the
probability as a decimal and a fraction.
4. What is the probability that you will draw a yellow marble from this bag?
Express the probability as a decimal and a percentage.

Word Problems:
1. Nelly is spinning a wheel. The wheel has 5 red sections, 2 green
sections, 1 blue section, and 1 yellow section. What is the probability that
Nelly will spin a primary color? Express the probability as a fraction.

2. Jeremy is playing a game with Michael. He puts different types of candy
into a paper bag. Inside the bag, Jeremy puts 10 lollipops, 2 caramels, 7
taffies, 5 gummies, and 2 pieces of chocolate. If Michael draws a lollipop,
then Jeremy wins. If Michael draws any other outcome, then Jeremy
loses. What is the probability, as a decimal, that Jeremy will win?

3. Sallie is making a pizza. The pizza is divided into 12 slices. There are 3
slices with pepperoni, 2 slices with cheese, 6 slices with mushrooms,
and 1 slice with ham. What is the probability that if Sallie were to choose
without looking, that she will pick a slice without meat? Express your
answer as a fraction, decimal, and percentage.
