HIV / AIDS and U=U Health Promotion Program
PROJECT REPORT
October to November 2024
I. Brief Introduction
The Department of Health - Health Promotion Bureau (DOH-HPB), in partnership with the
American International Health Alliance (AIHA) and LoveYourself, has launched a Health Promotion
Program aimed at ensuring the implementation of the HIV / AIDS and U=U campaigns across the
Philippines. This initiative seeks to raise awareness and invigorate behavior change among Filipinos
through the development of communication materials, the conduct of demand generation activities,
and the implementation of community engagement strategies. The program officially commenced in
August 2024 with a team working together to develop technical communications materials such as
social media cards, posters, and health education presentations focused on promoting HIV / AIDS,
U=U, and Sexual and Reproductive Health in the country.
II. Specific Deliverables
A. Social Media Cards (SMCs)

U=U, debunk myths and
misconceptions, provide the roadmap
to achieving U=U, and support
stigma reduction specific to HIV and
AIDS. This initiative seeks to foster a
more informed and inclusive society
through encouraging open
discussions about U=U in the
country.
A set of nudges developed to
U=U Nudges Cards emphasize the recommended [Link]/U-UNudges
call-to-actions that must be done and
promoted relative to HIV / AIDS
screening, prevention, and treatment
interventions. These materials include
nudges on taking PrEP, HIV testing,
adherence to medical appointments,
and compliance with antiretroviral
therapy (ART).
A set of SMCs to inform the general
HIV Screening and Testing public of the different screening and [Link]
Methods testing methods that they can avail or
utilize for free, such as facility-based
screening, self-testing, and
community-based screening. This set
highlights that HIV testing is safe,
free, and confidential. Additionally,
QR codes and links to easily access
HIV services and information are
included in the cards.
HIV Prevention Strategies A set of SMCs highlighting the
various powerful tools in HIV [Link]
prevention. These tools include the
combination prevention methods such
as condoms, lubricants, PrEP,
post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), and
treatment as prevention. These
materials are designed to inform the
public about the prevention methods
while also guiding them on how to
access them at no cost.

B. Health Education Deck

status. This emphasizes the importance
of advocating for HIV literacy in
schools, which would help address the
stigma and discrimination rooted in the
lack of knowledge of individuals about
HIV and U=U.
An informative slide presentation
General Population aimed at providing a comprehensive [Link]

targeted to the general population and
workforce. This material includes
crucial and relevant information
covering the basic science of HIV and
U=U. Therefore, it can be used as a
reference for educating others about
HIV and U=U.
C. Influencer Toolkit

This toolkit contains comprehensive

Educational animated videos
HIV/AIDS and U=U co-produced by PEPFAR-USAID-EpiC

content regarding U=U, Antiretroviral

PEPFAR-USAID-EpiC) Transgender Health. These videos were
showcased during the 2024 Philippine
World AIDS Day Walk, educating and
raising the awareness of the general
public on HIV prevention, treatment,
and other available services.
A documentary video featuring the
Feature Story Documentary story of a person living with HIV [Link]
of a Person Living with HIV (PLHIV). This was co-produced by the
DOH and PEPFAR-USAID-EpiC to

Moreover, the podcast episodes provide
valuable health advice and information [Link]
from different health experts, medical
professionals, and researchers. The goal
of these podcast episodes is to raise
public awareness, alleviate stigma, and
promote safe sexual practices.
The Department of Health, together
World AIDS Day with the Philippine National AIDS [Link]
Celebration: 2024 Philippine Council, conducted the 2024 Philippine
World AIDS Day Walk World AIDS Day Walk with the theme
“Take the Rights Path”. This

those vulnerable to the epidemic. This
activity advocates for laws and policies
that foster inclusion and equality to end
stigma and discrimination, aiming to
make essential services more accessible
to everyone affected by HIV and AIDS.
In continuation of the World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day Celebration, the Department of Health, [Link]

U=U Ambassadors and the AIDS Council, conducted a formal
Influencer Toolkit event in the afternoon to highlight the
progress and achievements made during

III. Other DOH Materials
The following are the additional DOH materials and references that were approved and are
available for wide dissemination to other offices and stakeholders.

The Department of Health, in
National Conference on Family partnership with The Forum for [Link]
Planning Family Planning and Development
and the Commission on Population
and Development, conducted the
2024 National Conference for Family
Planning to identify issues that must
be addressed by all sectors in the
country. This activity calls on
everyone to innovate with courage,
collaborate with purpose, and
accelerate with unwavering
commitment to the improvement of
the overall family planning program
in the country.
