REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDY

This response aims to provide a comprehensive review of relevant

literature and studies that can aid in improving the knowledge of Grade 11 CSS
students at Matacon National High School on basic computer concepts. Due to the
lack of specific search results, this response will draw upon general research and
best practices in computer education and pedagogy.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE:

The study examined the significant differences in the extent of students’

computer literacy in said areas when paired according to their attitude toward
computers and the significant relationship between their academic performance
and the extent of their computer literacy in terms of the identified areas.( June
2021) Generally, the findings of the study revealed that the students needed to
enhance the extent of their computer literacy in the areas of word processing,
spreadsheet, presentation, and general computing. The results also signified that
the greater the extent of their computer literacy in said areas, the higher their
academic performance. (Melinda jr. Cabavles takenata). This implied that
classroom intervention activities are imperative to enhance the extent of the
students’ computer literacy. Thus, teachers should support them by implementing
an intervention program that improves students’ level of computer literacy in the
specific areas mentioned. (Alona medina cadic-Gabejan). The purpose of this
paper is to compare the effects of paper-based and computer-based concept
mappings on computer hardware achievement, computer anxiety and computer
attitude of the eight grade secondary school students.(Yauvz Erdagam 2009) The
students were randomly allocated to three groups and were given instruction on
computer hardware. The teaching methods used for each group were the

conventional method, paper-based concept mapping and computer-based concept

mapping. At the end of a 4-week instruction, posttests were administered to assess
computer hardware achievement, computer anxiety and computer attitude of the
students. The findings indicate that paper- based and computer-based concept
mapping strategies produce better results than the conventional method. However,
the effects of paper-band computer-based concept mapping strategies were not
significantly different. (2009)
REVIEW OF RELATED STUDY
The desire to enhance basic computer skills is a common goal for
individuals and educational institutions alike. This review examines several
studies that investigate different approaches to improving computer literacy. The
research highlights the use of self-paced tutorials, bilingual teaching, interactive
learning objects, and online learning platforms. One study evaluated the
effectiveness of self-paced tutorials for graduate students, focusing on skills like
email access, web browsing, file transfer protocols, and spreadsheet and
presentation software. The findings indicated a significant increase in self-rated
skill levels after participants completed the tutorial series. This suggests that self-
paced learning can be a valuable tool for acquiring basic computer skills. Another
study explored the benefits of bilingual teaching in a computer basic course. The
research focused on using both English and Chinese to teach computer concepts,
aiming to improve students’ professional knowledge and foreign language
proficiency simultaneously. The results showed that the bilingual teaching method
positively impacted students’ academic performance. A study focused on
developing a web-based interactive learning object (ILO) for teaching recursion in
introductory computer science. The ILO was evaluated using the Merlot standard
instrument, and the results indicated its effectiveness as a teaching tool. The study
also compared two feedback methods: immediate and delayed. The findings
revealed that immediate feedback led to higher retention rates, while delayed
feedback improved the generation of new knowledge. A multi-year study
investigated the effectiveness of an online computer literacy course for medical
university students. The course incorporated open educational resources (OER), a
book club, and an online game competition, all delivered through a learning
management system (LMS). The study showed positive results in terms of student

self-evaluation and online participation rates. Self-paced learning, bilingual

teaching, interactive learning objects, and online learning platforms can be
effective approaches to improving basic computer skills. Feedback plays a crucial
role in learning, with immediate feedback enhancing retention and delayed
feedback promoting knowledge generation. Educational interventions should
consider the learning styles and needs of diverse learners. Developing more robust
measures of computer skills and cognitive benefits. Investigating the long-term
impact of computer literacy interventions. Exploring the role of technology in
fostering computational thinking and problem-solving abilities. Developing
personalized learning environments that cater to individual needs and learning
styles.

SYNTHESIS AND RELEVANCE OF THE STUDY

In the era of technological advancement, the ubiquity of artificial

intelligence necessitates a comprehensive understanding of information intelligent
systems and knowledge bases in computer [Link] research identifies and
discusses various aspects of information intelligent systems, including their
practical applications and the interaction with knowledge bases. Key findings
include a detailed classification of knowledge bases according to their complexity
and the role of artificial intelligence in these systems.(Kundyz Maksutora 2024)
The study underscores the importance of advanced knowledge processing
technologies in computer science. The findings suggest that the effective
development and implementation of information intelligent systems and
knowledge bases are pivotal for modern education and various professional fields.
This systematic review provides a foundation for future advancements in artificial
intelligence applications, offering valuable insights for both academic and
practical applications in the realm of computer science.

Common questions

Powered by AI

Personalized learning is vital because it addresses the individual needs and learning styles of students, which is crucial for effectively fostering computer literacy. By tailoring educational experiences to individual preferences and pace, personalized learning environments can improve engagement, comprehension, and retention, leading to more effective skill acquisition.

The integration of open educational resources (OER) and online games within a learning management system (LMS) has positively influenced student participation rates and self-evaluation in computer literacy courses. These resources make learning more interactive and accessible, allowing students to evaluate their own learning progress effectively.

Studies comparing different instructional strategies found that both paper-based and computer-based concept mapping strategies produced better outcomes in enhancing computer hardware achievement and reducing computer anxiety compared to traditional teaching methods. However, there was no significant difference in the effectiveness between the two mapping strategies themselves.

Self-paced tutorials significantly enhance students' acquisition of basic computer skills by allowing them to progress at their own speed, which increases their confidence and ability to master various skills such as email access, web browsing, and software use. This approach caters to different learning paces and styles, making it an effective educational tool.

Feedback plays a crucial role in learning computer literacy concepts. Studies indicate that immediate feedback enhances retention rates, while delayed feedback is more effective for knowledge generation. This suggests that educators should carefully consider the timing of feedback to optimize learning outcomes.

Recent studies at Matacon National High School found a significant relationship between students' computer literacy and academic performance. Findings revealed that students who enhanced their computer literacy in areas such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and general computing showed improved academic performance. This suggests that computer literacy is crucial for academic success and highlights the importance of implementing classroom intervention programs to improve these skills.

Bilingual teaching, using both English and another language such as Chinese, has been shown to enhance students' computer literacy and professional knowledge. It enables students to simultaneously improve their foreign language skills and computer knowledge, resulting in an overall positive impact on academic performance and professional readiness.

Interactive Learning Objects (ILOs) have demonstrated significant educational benefits in teaching complex computer science topics like recursion. Evaluated through the Merlot standard instrument, ILOs facilitate engagement and comprehension by allowing students to interact dynamically with the content, leading to improved understanding and retention of difficult concepts.

The advancement of artificial intelligence systems and knowledge bases offers significant implications for modern education and professional fields. These systems enhance the processing and classification of knowledge, supporting more effective educational practices and opening new avenues for professional applications. They facilitate advanced knowledge processing which is essential for modern education's adaptation to quickly evolving technological landscapes.

The study of information intelligent systems contributes significantly to understanding the role of artificial intelligence in modern society by classifying knowledge bases and discussing the interaction of AI with these systems. This research aids in the comprehension of AI's practical applications and its transformative potential across various sectors, emphasizing its importance in advancing both technological and societal progress.
