REFLECTION

My work immersion at the MDRRMO was an experience I will never forget.


Before starting, I only had a basic idea of what disaster response was, but
after spending time with the team, I realized how much effort and dedication
it takes to keep a community safe.

One of the most valuable things I learned was the importance of being
prepared. I was trained in first aid, CPR, and how to act quickly in
emergencies. It was challenging at first, but as I practiced, I gained
confidence in my ability to help others. The disaster drills felt so real, and
they taught me that in times of crisis, every second counts.

But this immersion was not just about learning skills—it also opened my eyes
to the teamwork and passion behind disaster response. The MDRRMO staff
work tirelessly to ensure people’s safety, and their commitment inspired me.
I saw firsthand how communication, coordination, and quick decision-making
9can save lives.

This experience made me more responsible and aware of the risks around us.
Now, I understand that disaster preparedness is not just for professionals—
it’s something we all need to take seriously. I am grateful for the knowledge
and skills I gained, and I hope to use them to help others and promote safety
in my community.
