Instructions for the final assessment: Research Project in Cognitive Linguistics
Your project should be an idea to implement in relation to Cognitive Linguistics. You should begin with a
tightly-focused Abstract of no more than 250 words that encapsulates the problem, literature review,
methods, and implications, followed by 3–5 Keywords. The Introduction (1000 words max) must clearly state
and situate the research problem and gap, leading to specific research questions or objectives. The
Literature Review (1500 words max) should critically synthesize up-to-date and seminal research, from a
critical stand. The Methodology section (1500 words max) must justify and describe your design,
participants, instruments, procedures, and data analysis plan, showing coherence with the research
questions and/or objectives. Finally, include your refence section of at least ten properly formatted entries
in APA style.

Contextualize the topic: present background information and situate your study within the broader
academic discourse.
Formulate and delimit the research problem clearly; explain why it matters.
Identify the gap in existing literature and show how your study addresses it.
State research questions/objectives arising from the gap.
4. Literature Review (Max. 1 500 words)
Theoretical/conceptual framework: Define the key concepts using seminal and up-to-date
literature. You should synthetize critically what has been done and what is known about your
subject of study.
5. Methodology (Max. 1 500 words)
Overview paragraph: describe your overall research design.
Participants/sample: detail inclusion/exclusion criteria, context and size.
Data collection methods: instruments and materials.
Data analysis: data collection and data analysis plans.
Ethical considerations: consent procedures, confidentiality.
6. Bibliographical References (≥ 10 sources)
Format: follow APA 7th edition guidelines.
Consult Appendix 1 for the format of the cover page of your research proposal.
Consult Appendix 2 for the structure of the document you are expected to submit and the approximate
number of pages for each subsection.
