3) EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report provides a summary overview of the crop
protection strategies and action implemented for sweet
potatoes. During the growing season
It includes identification of major pest, disease and weeds;
monitoring methods, measure taken and results observed.
The report concludes with recommendations aimed at
improving the crop healthy and yields

4) Introduction
Effective crop protection is essential for one have high yields
and farming practices that are suitable. This report focuses
on sweet potatoes , a staple food with high economic and
nutritional value.
This report provides assessment of sweet potato production
in details providing the pest that attacks the crop, and
recommendations for action

5) Crop details
Sweet potato (ipomeas batatas) is a crop grown both as cash
and food crop. The roots are edible and provide
carbohydrates. The crop was surveyed at flowering and
maturity stage of its life which was cultivated on an acre
piece of land

6) PEST, DISEASE AND WEED CONTROL


This crop is susceptible to some posts, disease and weed
that can cause damage. They include : aphids- creates
window on sweet potato leaves, wire worms: feeds on
germinating potato leaves , wire worms : feeds on
germinating potato leaves . The rate of severity of
infoslistation was moderate

7) Monitoring and data collection


Monitoring and data collection is essential for crop
protection
These methods include; scouting in the field on weekly basis
visual inspections and use of traps.
Data collection was done through pest counts and crop
and crop health, a large number of pests were observed and
taken down, a half of the plantation was affected the the
environmental condition was very poor net conclusive.

8) CONTROL MEASURES IMPLEMENTED


Control measure are essential I protecting the crop and
providing high yields. Cultural practices like nuthrin with
active ingredients: labda= ryhalothine which kill the pest and
are applied at the rate of 2-3 weeks time

9) RESULTS AND OBSERVATION


Crop rotation was effective was very effective as there killing
and destroying of pest and weeds cycle. That had attacked
the sweet potato
Used of pesticide was also effective since when it was
applied there was no pest again on the leaves but it was
applied there was no pest again on the leaves but it should
be used with other methods that are environment friendly
to prevent over- reliance on chemicals

10) Recommendations
From the observation it’s recommended to use the resistant
varieties to reduce the level of attack.
The use of combination of both cultures, chemical and
biological methods should be applied.
Conduction should be applied.
Conduction of regular scouting and monitoring to identify
pest and diseases
Proper soil management practices to be implemented for
high production and effective yield

In conclusion crop protection is essential for high and best
crop production .the report identifies the pest and disease
that attack the crop, proper ways, methods controlling and
preventing the parts, and diseases observed
Recommendation are also indicated in this report for future
protection
