The Indefinite Articles “A”, “An”

 Use the indefinite article “a” if the word starts with a consonant
sound, in singular form.
Ex: a boy; a car; a house

 Use the indefinite article “an” if the word starts with a vowel
(a,e,i,o,u) sound, in singular form.
Ex: an apple; an orange; an opera

Note:
 Use “an” before an “h” mute. Ex: an hour; an honor
 Use “a” before “u” and “eu” when they sound like like “you”.
Ex: a European; a university; a unit

The Definite Article “the”

Use the definite article “the” with:


 Specific objects or professions. Ex: the teacher; the President
 The Nature. Ex: the sun; the moon; the rain
 Unique objects. Ex: the table in the room; the wallet beside the
purse

Note: “the” can be used in singular and plural form. Ex: the stars; the
doctor; the houses…
