Definition of Supply chain
A supply chain is a network of individuals, organizations, resources, activities, and technology
involved in the creation and sale of a product or service. It encompasses everything from the
delivery of raw materials from the supplier to the manufacturer through to its eventual delivery
to the end user. It involves the coordination and management of various activities, organizations,
people, and resources to ensure the efficient and effective movement of products or services from
the point of origin to the point of consumption.
In Bangladesh, the supply chain industry encompasses a wide range of roles and functions. Here
are ten jobs related to the supply chain sector:

1. Supply Chain Manager


 Oversees all aspects of the supply chain, from sourcing raw materials to delivering
finished products to customers.
 Develops and implements strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the
supply chain.
 Manages a team of supply chain professionals.
 Works closely with other departments, such as sales, marketing, and manufacturing, to
ensure that the supply chain is aligned with the overall business strategy.

2. Logistics Manager
 Plans and coordinates the movement of goods and materials through the supply chain.
 Selects and manages transportation carriers.
 Oversees the warehousing and storage of goods.
 Tracks and monitors the movement of goods through the supply chain.
 Resolves any logistical problems that arise.

3. Transportation Manager
 Responsible for the transportation of goods and materials by truck, rail, ship, or air.
 Selects and manages transportation carriers.
 Negotiates transportation rates.
 Tracks and monitors the movement of goods through the supply chain.
 Resolves any transportation problems that arise.
4. Materials Manager
 Responsible for the procurement, storage, and distribution of raw materials and finished
goods.
 Sources raw materials from suppliers.
 Negotiates prices with suppliers.
 Oversees the warehousing and storage of goods.
 Manages the distribution of goods to customers.

5. Inventory Manager
 Oversees the inventory of goods and materials in the supply chain.
 Tracks inventory levels and forecasts demand.
 Develops and implements inventory management strategies.
 Ensures that the right amount of inventory is available at the right time and place.

6. Procurement Manager
 Responsible for sourcing and acquiring goods and materials from suppliers.
 Develops and manages supplier relationships.
 Negotiates prices with suppliers.
 Places orders for goods and materials.
 Ensures that goods and materials are delivered on time and to specification.

7. Warehouse Manager
 Oversees the operations of a warehouse, including storage, picking, and packing.
 Manages a team of warehouse workers.
 Develops and implements warehouse management strategies.
 Ensures that goods are stored and handled safely and efficiently.

8. Demand Planner
 Forecasts demand for products and services, and develops plans to meet that demand.
 Analyzes historical sales data, market trends, and other factors to develop demand
forecasts.
 Works with other departments, such as sales and marketing, to develop demand plans.
 Monitors demand forecasts and makes adjustments as needed.
9. Logistics Coordinator
 Coordinates the movement of goods and materials with suppliers, carriers, and customers.

10. Supply Chain Analyst
