Instructions:
Complete the second sentence so that it has a similar
meaning to the first sentence, using the word given. Do
not change the word given. You must use between two
and five words, including the word given.
Reading and Use of English part 4:
1) I won't organise the party unless you arrange the food.
LONG
I'll organise the party .................... arrange the food.
2) I hated driving on the left at first but now it's OK.
USED
I ....................... on the left now.
3) 'I didn't break the window,' said the boy.
DENIED
The boy .................... the window.
ANSWERS:
1) I won't organise the party unless you arrange the food.
LONG
I'll organise the party AS LONG AS YOU arrange the food.

USED

Never forget!
Read the instructions.
Read every sentence carefully and make sure you
understand it.
Do not change the word given. Use between two and
five words for every gap.
Most common topics (reported speech, conditionals,
use of gerund and infinitive, active and passive
voice).
Writing section:
Part 1
Compulsory text
Essay Structure:
Introduction: State the topic in an impersonal way, do not
include your opinion. It is agreed/believed/thought that...
Body:
Paragraph1,2,3: Present the arguments and develop every
idea with justifications and examples. Be clear, logical and
use proper tone and style (Semi formal).
Use of topic related vocabulary: Polluted, species, habitat.
High level vocabulary: overuse, banned, promote,
awareness.
Linking words:
Order: Firstly, secondly, finally, to conclude
Logic: However, as a result, in addition, not only...but also
Use of passive forms: The government should ban the use of
plastic...The use of plastic should be banned by the
government
Conclusion:
Summarise the points presented, include your opinion.
Never forget!
Read the instructions carefully.
Use at least 5 minutes to plan your text.
Once you have finished, read it again to make any final
corrections.
Respect the structure and range of words.
Your text must answer the question in a logical and
coherent way.
It is considered that one of the biggest concerns
for developed and developing countries nowadays
is pollution. However, actions taken by the
governments are not enough. So, what can be
done to solve this problem?
Firstly, using public transport should be
compulsory every other day, since this could
greatly improve the quality of the air. As a result,
cities would be less polluted and people would
become healthier.
Secondly, the rivers and seas are getting more
and more polluted every day because of the
overuse of plastic. In fact, not only is the habitat
of the animals affected, but also some species
which are part of our diet. Therefore, its use
should be completely banned by the government.
Finally, recycling should become an important
part of every country’s culture. What is more, the
government should promote this by rewarding the
citizens who contribute by creating awareness of
the importance of recycling.
To conclude, I believe that if the governments
and the citizens work together to achieve this
global objective, we will be able to preserve the
world for ourselves and our future generations.
