Chapter 2 Building good social relationships
A The importance of friendship to personal development
Keywords:
1. friendship 友誼
Friendship is, in addition to kinship, an interpersonal relationship. It is a sort of
intimacy and affection evolved from various social relationships.
2. identity 身份認同
It refers to the affirmation of one's own identity, and one's sense of belonging to one
or more groups that identifies(ify) one as part of the group(s).
3. emotion 情緒
Emotion refers to the feeling that people have when being touched by some external
things. Such feelings include happiness, anger, sadness, joy, etc.
4. anxiety 焦慮
A negative emotional state ranging from slight unease to extreme fear. Slight
anxiety is common and does not affect human health. However, once anxiety reach
a critical level, such as people under a state of fear over a long period of time, it will
affect one's life and even one's health.

C Coping with peer pressure

1. peer 朋輩
Peers refer to a group of people who have a friendship with similar interests and
values. They agree with the standard of conduct of each other and have a sense of
belonging to the group they belong to.
2. conformity 從眾
It refers to the behavior of people giving up their own opinion and following the
majority under pressure and influence of groups. In teenage groups, the influence of
peers leads to the conformist behaviour, while the conformist behaviour puts
pressure on the teenagers.

Definition of peers
A group of people who have a friendship and a sense of belonging.
Influence of peers
Advantages: Teenagers may become more motivated to learn.
Disadvantages: Teenagers may become addicted to bad habits.
Peer pressure
Conformity: Some teenagers think that their relationships with their peers will be
maintained if they fulfil the requirements of their peers.
In order to obtain recognition from their peers, teenagers may lose theirselves and
violate the law.
Teenagers may be boycotted if they don't obey their peers, leading to conflicts.
Principles for coping with peer pressure
Sticking to principles: Do not give up or change our views, behaviors and
standards.
Thoughtful consideration: Do not make decisions that are known to be wrong.
Methods for coping with peer pressure
Persisting in refusing.

Chapter 3 Building a diverse and inclusive society
A Diverse and inclusive society
Keywords:
1. citizen 公民
It refers to the person who has the nationality of a country. In addition, he/she
enjoys the corresponding rights and undertakes the corresponding responsibilities in
accordance with the laws of that country.
