Assignment # 01 Due date: Monday, 19 Feb 2024.

Question 1:
Find and sketch the domain of the following functions.

a) 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) = ln|𝑥𝑦 + 𝑥 − 𝑦 − 1|
b) 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) = cos −1 𝑥𝑦
c) 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦, 𝑧) = 1 − |𝑦| − |𝑧|
d) 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) = √4 − 𝑥 2 + √9 − 𝑦 2
ln(2−𝑥)
e) 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) = 𝟏−𝒙𝟐 −𝒚𝟐

Question 2:
Use Geoebra to graph the function using various domains. (Attach the picture)

a) 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) = 𝑥𝑦
b) 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) = 𝑥 2 − 𝑦 2
c) 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) = ln(𝑥 2 + 4𝑦 2 )
d) 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) = 𝑦 − tan−1 𝑥
𝒚
e) 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) = 𝒙𝟐 +𝒚𝟐

Also plot some of the Level curves by hands.

Question 3:
(2𝑥−𝑦)2
a) Show that lim 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) with 𝑓(𝑥, 𝑦) = does not exist.
(𝑥,𝑦)→(0,0) 𝑥−𝑦
b) Find the limit, if it exists, or show that the limit does not exist.
